wait what? we dont get the movie disc??? wtf??

I'm not saying we won't for sure, just saying its not looking good.

Now for the big bonus set to be included in the first run edition. This special version will include a third disk called Existence. For this disk, Hideo Kojima and crew have created a three and a half hour cut of Metal Gear Solid 3's cinema scenes featuring remastered sound. The story on this disk is split into eight chapters and is meant for those who want to know the Snake Eater storyline but were unable to finish the game.

There's no reason for it not to be released here. But to be safe thats why I said send some emails to Konami to let them know we want it. It's not coming out till next year in the US so they've got plenty of time to put together a US version of the disk. Even if its just a small run of it.

was it delayed? most places still have it set for this year.

I'm not sure, i'm just going by Konami's website. They list it as Winter 2006 for the US. Could be that they just haven't updated their release dates.

Well, I'll be in Japan when this releases so I might as well buy this version. Already own the US release, so I wouldn't mind hearing the Japanese voice recording as well.

I'm thinking doing that, too, but can I play against NA players with a JP MGO? Can I even play against Japanese players when I'm playing from Canada?

Oh damn, didn't even think of that. :\

It would be wonderful if they could make the multiplayer international or something, but I highly doubt that.

I was thinking about buying Substance and replaying it, but someone mentioned that MGS2S was hard to find. Anyone know for sure?

I'd rather buy a new copy (and give my money to Kojima) than buy a used copy, but I might have to dig through the used bins.

I still have my original (non GH) version of MGS1 and with a copy of MGS2S and eventually MGS3S, I'll be able to play all 4 Solid games on one machine :)

what i dont get is why japan always get the bonus items (3rd disc, premium package etc).. i'm under the impression metal gear solid is more popular in north america / europe? someone knows?

Wow, I guess the cinemas will have Dolby Digital 5.1 audio then. I was quite surprised MGS2 had DD5.1 for some of the cinemas while MGS3 did not...

They should do something like the bonus 3rd disc for MGS2 as well. I'm intrigued by the storyline in it but I really dislike the control in it. After two attempts (one on PS2 and one on Xbox with Substance), I finally gave up. Since MGS4 is supposedly going to be include references to 2, it would nice to be able to catch up on the story without having to play the game...or read gamefaqs summaries.

The PS2 version of Substance is pretty hard to track down, even used. The only way you're gonna get a new copy is to pay through the nose on ebay. You're better off making a day out of searching all over for a complete used copy.

I wasn't going to pick up Subsistence at $50, but if it comes with all 3 discs here, I'm all about that.

I see the "It's Japanese, it must be good!" mentality has struck GAF again. The damn text is disappearing into the image ffs.

you're right due. the only reason i like it is because it's japanese. what was i thinking.

Yah it has nothing to do with it being good art, or it capturing one of the greatest scenes in any game. Nothing to do with that at all.

What the. I thought it was coming out NEXT MONTH.

BTW, hot boxart.

No, not really. It's awesome (in a matter of opinion of course) Shinkawa art of the most memorable scene in the game.

Terrible reasoning...

As SSX said, it is good artwork that captures one of the greatest moments in the game. It has significance to the product and looks great.

I don't think the logo blends in very well, but the actual art itself looks fantastic. Are you trying to say that people enjoy Shinkawa's art simply because he is Japanese? I'd say you're the one with the problem, if you really feel that way...

well here's my message :lol

you better release that third disc in europe, konami! please, please pretty please! we got the document of mgs2 with substance so please includ it! i beg of you! i love you guys

but it is as you say though, you better write something super serious to make them really get it.

so, is the 3rd disc a normal dvd or will it only play on a ps2? also, what are the odds we'll get english and japanese dubs on the "metal gear solid 3: the movie"?

I would rather they added a 60hz option to the game, Team Kojima do pretty shitty PAL conversions. Playing the US MGS3 and then the PAL version later on made this even more pronounced. Im sure I read ZOE 2 was meant to have one ages ago so you can imagine my dissapointment upon seeing shitty borders again.

I'm probably going to get a PS2 later this year- especially if it drops in price when the 360 comes out. Would MGS3 still be worth getting with this coming out? It'd be sweet to play through it once then play through Subsistence again on the hardest difficulty, with all of the added shit...

So we have a checklist of things that need to happen for the state side release now?

Must include Japanese cover art?
Must include 3rd disc of content?
*BONUS* Released this year? (come on, we all know we want this to win GAFs 2005 Game of the Year)

Seriously that cover art is awesome, and I'm not one to get all gaga over those things. It's perfect for the game.

I'd also like $19.99, while we're making wishes

Well for three discs I don't think thats very likely, especially since MGS3 still hasn't officially hit that price. I'd be happy with $20 or $30. (although, *shhhh*, don't tell Konami but I'll still pick it up at $50, and hell if they include the 3rd disc, I might pay $60.)

I don't believe that'll be the final boxart anywhere...

It doesn't look finished, especially with the logo and art blending like that.
