Metal Gear Solid V announced (PS360, open world)

I just realized at the beginning of the trailer, the camera seems to behave as if there was a third character being attended in the room, and this is confirmed when Kaz says after he's told Snake is in a coma: "What about him?"
Noticed that too. Oooo, this is so exciting all this theorizing. :]
You're probably right; I can't really remember the full story behind it. Big Boss was still running Foxhound in Metal Gear 1 and 2, and I figure those guys must have been a part of Foxhound by then, but perhaps it was in fact Liquid that drew them all together.

Yeah, being a "Son of Big Boss" must be a hell of a persuasion tool.

Man, I really hope Kojima connects the series back to the first two Metal Gear games. We need to see Big Boss return to the US and found FOXHOUND with the secret agenda of destroying Zero. If not in this game, then eventually. The franchise needs to come full circle. It needs to happen.

that pisses me off already, I hate it when games and movies pull idiotic shit like this, that really rubs me the wrong way and destroy any sort of suspension of disbelief I might have had

So, no PC is confirmed then? I thought Ground Zero was supposedely announced for PC as well, was that just a guess by most gaffers turning out wrong?
Le sigh, PS3 it is if so.

I know that it doesn't fit with the timeline, but i would have loved to see the events of Ground Zeroes as Metal Gear 1 together with the destruction of Outer Heaven by Solid Snake, while The Phantom Pain being the second MSX Metal Gear game in which you have to face Solid Snake as the final boss, after wakeing up from a coma resulted from the first battle. It would retell and reintroduce the first two MSX games to a new audience that never got to experience them.

On the other hand i guess that the man in the horse is Revolver Ocelot right?

Im so confused....

Anyone have a good link to a summary of the story so far? I haven't played a MG game since 2, but this seriously has my interest.

Pretty sure that's what it'll lead up to.

I thought the FOXHOUND that we see in MGS1 were all recruited by, Liquid Snake? The one Big Boss formed was with, Grey Fox, and Solid Snake among others.

Kind of interesting that Psycho Mantis as a kid, knew Big Boss. Might be one of the main reasons he decided to join FOXHOUND, under Liquid's command.

Actually, I remember in Sniper Wolf's death scene, she mentions Saladin, a.k.a. Big Boss.

Ah. From Metal Gear Wiki:

Wolf eventually met Big Boss, who saw great potential and talent within her. Big Boss brought the young Sniper Wolf to the United States. Wolf eventually came to look up to Big Boss, whom she called "Saladin."

Wolf then became a lone sniper, so she could watch and wait, and see war from the outside rather than from the inside. After the "death" of Big Boss, Sniper Wolf was later recruited into FOXHOUND, to get her revenge on the world.

I'm pretty sure she wasn't the only one.

1.) Does anyone else have a hard time buying those graphics on this gen consoles?

2.) Seriously, how many games is this thing?

3.) WHEN CAN I BUY IT/THEM? I NEED IT/THEM NOW!!!

No and no.
There's no confirmation of a PC version but there isn't a strong confirmation about a lack of it, either.
Both games so far are confirmed just for current gen consoles, but that doesn't mean much.

Other console versions could eventually be confirmed later and it's a Japanese developer we are talking about, so it's not very unusual to ignore PC entirely during the announce/reveal just to reconsider it later in development or as a late port.

Personally I still going to bet it's coming at some point, especially given how Konami is recently starting to move into Steam and considering some past statements by Kojima about how much he is interested in the PC as gaming platform.

Forgot about that scene. But isn't she the only one besides Ocelot, to specifically state that she knew Big Boss in the past, in MGS1? Regardless, it's pretty damn cool. Would love to she her in the game as well.

Wish they'd go back to that MGS3 style of theme song. Something specifically written for the game with an amazing singer.

Yeah, that is at least why the song was better than this one. It fit with the Bond-esque tone that MGS3 was playing with. It just feels tacky when you slap on some commercial song just because some lyrics obnoxiously fit in with the themes. As pretentious as the "Here's to You'' was for the previous trailer for Ground Zeroes, at least it was Morricone.

They also do the 'flatline = V-fib = shock him with the magic lifegiving paddles' thing that every medical drama ever does, none of which is correct CPR for a code nor treatment for V-fib :X oh yeah you shock v-fib, durr

What if this game is about Solidus? Mother Base is destroyed and Big Boss goes into a coma, but wakes up and walks out of the hospital a short while later. The Patriots use this opportunity to kidnap Solidus and use a young Psycho Mantis to "implant" Solidus with Big Boss's memories in an attempt to make them the same person. The whole thing goes wrong and Solidus emerges from the induced coma hating the Patriots, getting to know Ocelot (him arriving in the trailer and rescuing him on horseback could be their first meeting), and later orchestrating Shadow Moses to get back at them.

Or something. I don't know.

It's just so crazy Kojima would do it.

Would also explain why his voice actor isn't Hayter.

The trailer was impressive from a technical stand point but showed practically nothing of the game, that is what I care about. But I dont worry cause it is MGS and it will be one of the greatest games of all time.

As for the story, I thought this game would begin the retelling of MG1 but I saw a few posts up that the we would still be 10 years away from MG1, so I guess now. But it is damn time that Big Boss turns bad and we introduce a young Solid Snake.

Hey guys, remember this from over a year ago? It seems to actually fit MGSV better than it did MGR when people were speculating about that. :)

If that's the case i would really have to wonder how Sony didn't manage to secure a port of the game for the PS4 release window. It's not everyday that you have the chance of having a Metal Gear game available for a console launch, which would definitely be a system seller, even if it only has prettier graphics compared with current gen versions.

I'm happy with the trailer, it's best not to know much. It's always best to go into a metal gear solid game fresh. That's when the surprises actually mean surprises.
