Metal Gear Solid V announced (PS360, open world)

You can tell it's a Japanese current gen game because of the fucking dithering.

Problem is his voice acting has gone down the drain after MGS1. His delivery has been monotonous in the last few games.

He was GREAT in MGS1, but I agree with others that his other works weren't up to par.

yeah he peaked with MGS1. MGS2 he was okay and it just kinda down hill from there. fans love him, but i can't really take him seriously anymore.

Still has the best beard.

Weird time to start then, he should have started in MGS 2. It actually mattered for story purposes back then, seeing as Raiden isn't supposed to sound completely different from Snake.

Speaking of which the VA director that let/made Quinton Flynn use his Jack The Ripper voice should be fired. He was good enough as normal Raiden.

MGS1 and a really badly optimised port of MGS2 Substance

The fact that Downpour didn't have a PC version worries me a bit.
Konami doesn't seem interested in the PC platform like Capcom and Square-Enix (on their Eidos part, at least) are, which is a shame, since it's growing fast with the digital side of things.

Then again Konami doesn't seem interested in anything at all, so i wouldn't know.

ATTENTION MOD: The YouTube link in th OP for the full presentation only shows 43 minutes. The upload was corrupted. Heres the full version in best available quality.

I need a Mod to delete my previous link for the GDC Panel in the original post and add this one instead. They were both added by me. Thanks

But he voiced Big Boss in MGS 3. That's why people are "confused". Either you go with one VA or you don't, don't change shit up whenever you feel like it.
You can't voice a character in MGS 3 and then not voice it in MGS 4 just because the character is older. It makes no fucking sense. If that's a reason to change voice actors, Hayter shouldn't be voicing Snake in 4 either.

not just in MGS3. He voiced him also in Portable Ops and Peace Walker.

they also say V has come to at the end of the trailer. so that is def big boss in that scene since he is also V boss? wow, im confused.

I'm sorry to insist, but why does the OP mention Snake being in a 9-year coma, when others say it's Big Boss? Am I missing something obvious here, for only having played MGS1 and 2?

It is Big Boss and a doctor tells him this in the trailer in before he wakes up.In MGS3
Before he was Big Boss is codename was Naked Snake
Edit: Beaten like a snake.

You really should either play MGS3 or watch the cutscenes in movie form on YouTube. Make it top priority.

Thanks, I'm getting confused with all those "_____ Snake"s being shortened to just "Snake".

It's next once I'm done with Tomb Raider, thanks for the advice :)

V could also mean 5 as in the Roman number. That last part is really cryptic. I have no idea what it might mean.

No matter how many times I watch the gameplay footage, I can't work out if Big Boss is also voiced by Keifer putting on a different pitch of gruffness, or Richard Doyle putting on a slightly younger voice than his MGS4 one. I just can't decide, and it's killing me. What's the consensus here?

yeah it definitely means 5 but i was just wondering why it's set up like that where big boss rides away on the motorcycle and then they mention that V(vic boss) has come to.

Its not Big Boss, that gotta be the catch
That's the only way it would make sense to me.

Or he meets Snake later on (maybe in an epilogue) and they didn't want that one person voices two characters.

Would be interesting to know who was cast for the japanese version

V has come to. :

1. the term "has come to" in this case means "to come back", or "to recover consciousness" (he was in a coma)

2. V because of Vic Voss/ Big Boss (obviously)

I'm bored at work..

I don't think that we get to play as big boss in this game.
My guess is that we play as the third guy who is with Kaz and Snake at the beginning of the new trailer.
While he's in coma, he undergoes plastic surgery to make him look like Big Boss.
Then he gets "hypnotized" to think he is Big Boss.
And he become's Big Boss Phantom ...

Bah, Whatever.. :)

The problem is that with the content that Kojima could be producing either with MGSV or a future product the chances of Big Boss and Solid Snake being featured in the same game are becoming increasingly more likely.

Whether it's a Metal Gear remake in the future or something else, we'll be needing a new full time voice actor for Big Boss.

Welcome to the "no Cam Clarke as Oceliquid in MGS4" club :) We're currently accepting all "no David Hayter as Big Boss in MGS5" applications, if you could just take a number and be seated we'll right with you.

Maybe Kojima is actually giving a shit about the English voices this time around?

Sons of Liberty was really the only game in the series with a bad translation. But even then it was still good thanks to the actors themselves like Zimmerman, Clarke, Hale, Cygan, and even UPS Guy. Snake Eater had better dialogue but the acting wasn't as good.

It was odd when he asks "how's he doing" while gesturing and staring at the camera.

No PC version.
No antialiasing.
Dithering.

What is it with Japanese devs?

It's a next gen engine running on ancient 6 year old technology...what did you expect brah? They will have to make cuts to get it to run on PS360. I am guessing, 30 FPS and lower, sub 720p resolution, no AA, dithering and host of other problems.

Lyrics from "not your kind of people" are quite strange.

You dropped by,
as I was sleeping,
You came by to see,
the whole commotion.
And when I woke,
I started laughing.
The jokes on me,
for not believing.

Ishmael?
