Metal Gear Solid V: Gamescom Gameplay Demo

I've been doing some thinking about the meaning of the title to the game. There must be a reason why the title opts for the Roman numeral V for the number 5 wheras every prior game used a number. It makes me think that the letter V will also be an abbreviation for a major plot point or something, hence the double meaning.

I dunno but stuff like this kills my OCD. Still not as bad as Saint's Row's titling, though.

Pacifica oceans V for victory or Paz peace sign.

I think Kojima thought it was cool so he went with it. Roman numerals are all the rage these days.

It definitely has more meaning(s) than just the roman numeral for 5.

Peace.
Victory.
Venom.
V has come to.
Vaginabomb.
Etc.

There might be additional reasons, but PW was in many ways considered to be MGS5. So I guess it's also a way to acknowledge the 5-ness of PW.

Also now that I think about it, one other reason could be that now you can turn it into Metal Gear Solid Vendetta since revenge is an important theme for MGSV.

you guys are all losers seriosuly wasting so much time fucking nerds

I am a teacher and have the entire summer off all I have been doing is reading up on Metal Gear news travel to Sicily and now lying by the pool in +30-40 weather, then when school starts first two weeks are slacked any ways and it is a "get to know you week"

Because, you see, Big Boss does bad things in this game, yeah?

So we have to be beaten over the head with the the fact that he is a "demon," you know? Because he can't just commit terrible deeds to be a bad guy, has has to grow a stupid fucking horn to visually show us that he is a DEMON! Otherwise we couldn't possibly comprehend his actions.

I'll be covering that stupid fucking horn with the bandana as soon as possible.

I saw that movie with Daniel Radcliffe. It was godawful. Maybe I've grown up a lot from when I profanely played MGS1 in college with the mini gunner who talked to a raven and the BDSM gimp who made me turn off my PS1, but at the time, I was willing to accept those story elements. Maybe narrative storytelling that MGS1 broke ground on has advanced so much that hackney ideas like horns/shrapnel are tougher to swallow in this day and age. I just don't get how a game like this that seems to nail so many other elements is still so narratively childish in nature.

I'd rather Koijima get rid of the shrapnel thing and just make Big Boss grow a legit horn when he turns evil.

Metal Gear Solid has always been about blending the outrageous elements of anime and spy movies together. It blows my mind how many people want this series to be something it isn't and has never been.

Yup 90s anime and spy movies, this is what i love about metal gear. I was worried back then about mgsv becoming like splinter cell when gz was first revealed but then when i saw the e3 2014 demo i knew that this game will dethrone peace walker as my greatest game of all time.

Garbage is my favourite pick of trailer music, because Garbage are great, and it's cool to see Kojima is a fan and it surprisingly fit the tone and presentation for the first trailer to formally combine The Phantom Pain with Ground Zeroes.

Elegia is a close second though, because New Order are great.

Not too hot on Nuclear though. Okay song, okay trailer, but doesn't really grab me.

Today's V Log is boring.

I wonder what happens when you make Boss roll around in the horse shit. You know Kojima thought of this.

So the jeep spun out because it ran over horseshit and the people in the car are knocked out from that? I have to admit that I wouldn't have tried that myself, there is some point&click adventure game logic going on in this game. I wonder what else is in the game that does things nobody expects?

It's cool, just calling it boring because it was shown before. Though, I guess all of them so far have been shown.

I think it was shown along with showing that the horse could even do that. A little weird, but not sure what else it could be used for.

Anyone wonder if the PS4 version will have some sort of Vita integration since MGS has been primarily a Playstation title or do you think MS will expect some sort of Xbone feature parity?

I think the most you can hope for on XB1 is a smart glass companion and I'm pretty sure both are getting a companion app. As for Vita I imagine it's remote play or nothing.

A 'V' is two points coming from one, which fits in with the whole 'from FOX two phantoms were born' stuff...

So uh.. From what I understand your can transfer your profile from GZ to TPP and gain new stuff, however is it factored by your completion ratio? As in if I gain 100% in GZ will it affect TPP?
