Meteos downloadable at WHF!!

That's pretty cool. Nintendo could do this at E3 too with their DS games, so anyone who brought a system wouldn't have to wait in line for not very long with the bigger games.

Or they could play the games while waiting in line for something else.

hmm... That's pretty neat

That's actually pretty smart, it would be easier for everyone.

And people could buy a couple of extra DS consoles, load them with demos and sell them for crazy prizes to crazy fans who can't get into E3. "Hurry before the battery runs out!"

Nintendo needs to get some sort of storage for downloaded demos and whatnot. Preferably something that uses SD cards. Having to keep the system on to play a demo should've gone the way of password-based save schemes.

While they're at it, why not give away free flash DS cards, USB link cables, and software for "backing up" your games?"

Cough.

Would be a good idea for E3, rather than lining up to play a DS unit, anyone in the vincinity of the nintendo booth could download demos directly on their DS and try them out.

Or the press conference.

"We now a have a new NDS game to show you, <insert new game>, if you turn on your NDS you will find a demo copy for your enjoyment."

And yes ladies and gents, I will be going there with a fully charged DS!

Expect VERY VERY FULL Meteos impressions from me.

I wonder if Mizuguchi will let me copy it tomorrow when i meet him.

i think the point is that Nintendo wants you to buy the full game.

Just how much information can a DS hold without a cart? Could they possibly have a rolling video stream through, or fully be downloaded for it?

That'd be neat just to see how the game looks on screen, though not playable.

Heh, imagine if Nintendo started playing a treasure hunt game in the middle of E3, and those who follow finding a special video or prize :)

i'd sooooo be up for that. unless it's your first or second E3, you tend to take it for granted. so at this point, halfway into day 2, im done checking out anything that i have any interest in.

4MB... about the size of generally the largest SNES games or roughly half the size of Mario 64. :)
Of course, at that point the system is going to have trouble finding the RAM to do anything with all that data. :)

4MB is just for main RAM, there's also .56MB of VRAM and the ARM7 and ARM9 have various RAM pools.

I bet they'll ad this feature to DS kiosks in the future so you can load up your DS with the latest demo.
Why in the future? its already there. all they need to do is install game demos that transmit date. for instance you can bring a DS to a kiosk and play mario DS multiplayer with it. there is no reason the opposite cannot happen, you would just need to make it a single player demo so you could take it with you away from the kiosk.
