This game is the main reason I'm interested in a DS.

This game's US release date is the main reason I don't have a DS.

How can Lumines not impress? I don't understand.
I can see it's appeal. The visual and aural flash was nice but the core puzzle game play was not interesting or fun to me at all. I actually made my friend buy it as per GAF recommendations. He doesn't like it either, but he's a casual gamer and not the puzzle type.

Why do you tell somebody who isn't the puzzle type to buy Lumines?
And how long did you play? You don't really start to understand the depth until you reach a score of 50k.

ive had this game along with lumines for around the same amount of time.

i know people have mixed feelings about each, but personally i think meteos runs rings around lumines and then some.

i dont understand the japanese text in meteos tho, but lumines is good for its music but gameplay wise imo, meteos rips lumines.

definetly importing US when it comes out.

Whatever you do, don't go into Meteos expecting ANYTHING like a Lumines experience.

Not only will you be disappointed, you also won't be giving Meteos its due.

Same the other way around. But just because they are both puzzle games, gamers will still do that. I miss the days of Lolo when puzzle gaming was more than putting dropping blocks into patterns. :(

Because I wanted to play it. The guys loaded though so it's all good.

That just reminded me of another olimario quote. :P

when comparing puzzle mechanics i think Meteos is "better" because it benefits from the unique feature of the DS hardware. Lumines is more of a "total experience" for me than a puzzle game. I just unlocked the RODENT skin and i'm like a snake being controlled by a charmer, I can't stop playing that skin. I'm even trying to time my movements to the tempo of the song rather than paying full attention to the puzzle gameplay, it's like i'm playing with a micro-sized version of Fruity Loops (Music Sequencing software).....if that isn't emergent gameplay then I don't know what is.

None of my Reason-snob friends understand why, but I am a FL fan for life!

I just tried out the Wireless Single Cart Multiplayer with Meteos...And it rocks. Easily the most fun I have ever had with a puzzle game. It's speed is just right, and overall the game is a blast. I can't wait for the North America version. Definitely going to pick it up.

I've tried that Flash version a dozen times, and I still don't get how to win... I mean I'll match three to four of the same piece, and they shoot upward, but start falling again... Then what do you do?

I can't see any puzzle game replacing Lumines anytime soon in terms of addictiveness.

I will be getting Meteos, but I doubt it'll be as addictive.

Question for those that imported, is Meteos as hard/fast as Tetris Attack?

it's not really comparable to tetris attack at all - TA is more about setting up massive chains and combos, meteos is more 'clear the screen' as fast as you can as the blocks start raining down constantly pretty quickly. it's an interesting game - and i was really hyped up for its release, but after owning it since the japanese release, it hasn't really had much playtime bar the first week or so :\
