Metro 2033 Sells 1.5 million copies

I wouldn't go as far as to say they did very well, I wouldn't be surprised if most copies sold were at $10 or less. Even Mirror's Edge failed to turn a profit at 2 million sold and it was sub $20 soon after launch just like Metro.

The game cost less than 5 million to make.

Not every game has a massive budget, dudes.

I bought it on launch on a whim. I really enjoyed it, but it definitely had flaws. Good to see that sort of game sell well, at the very least.

They had Metro 2033 as a free pre-order bonus on several THQ games on Steam. Which is actually pretty smart because the more people that played it, the more people will play the sequel.

Awesome.

Unique FPS with amazing graphics and a low budget and selling well.

"But NEXT GEN games will be 1 billion dollours!!!?"

I didn't realize this was on Xbox 360. Maybe I should dust that wasted purchase off and play this some time. Haven't touched it since Alan Wake.

The game cost less than 5 million to make.

To put this in perspective, EA spent 150 Million on ADVERTISING alone for BF3. Not even counting development of the game and Frostbite 2.

Next gen games will look ridiculous, and there will not be any (substantial) increase in dev costs. Devs can pay for a couple less NBA commercials and more than cover the added cost.

Also, Last Light looks freaking amazing. Can't wait to see what they do with that.

I too own Metro 2033 on two platforms 8)

2033 is a great game & I'm stoked Last Light is due for release soon.

Aside from carrying around children on your back, and radioactive spore orb enemies swarming you for the last 40 minutes, it was a fantastic game.

I have to assume a lot of those were for $5 on Steam and Amazon, though. Let's not go crazy here.

Good game. I really liked and hope they keep to an offline theme.

I played it on pc, asked my 360 friends if they liked it.

They asked me if the online was any good.

sigh..................

That was very short part of the game. But spore orbs where annoying. . . But this game is amazing. I wanted to play it long ago and finally found it at a game stop and just wow amazing game.

I think multiplayer should just be a fun experience after an amazing story, but then you get all these games that sell big and mainly online then better companies try to go as low. . . Yeah I'm looking at you Assassin's Creed!

glad to hear this, looking forward to 2034.

also I heard that 4A Games are in negotiations with some major pubs inlcuding Zenimax.
