Total shipments and digital sales for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater have surpassed one million units worldwide as of August 28, Konami announced.

1 million sold, but Steam's CCU peaked at just 19K—Snake's still hiding?

19k CCU would usually mean two or three hundred thousand sold on Steam, plus the majority of sales would be on PlayStation for this title so that tracks.

I know nothing about sales targets. After the initial optimization critic bombardment, people seem to recognize that the remake although safe is pretty solid.

Well deserved.

The only thing I don't get is the price….imo there isn't really anything to justify it. I paid with taxes just over $100….for the standard version. As good as the game is, it should have been less.

Just think how many it would have sold if priced correctly.
I like the game but I fully agree with this. They should not have priced it as high. Not because it's not good but because I think most people today are not willing to give that much money for such a short game.

Here's me hoping that they sell many more though. Framerate issues aside, Konami did a fantastic job on this one.

yea thats my face when i saw the sales number.

Man are you serious? The game sold 1 million copies in one day, and you are really saying Metal Gear is dead?

SIlent Hill 2 Remake which had more budget and time development sold the same after one week of sales.

This is great news. And it will sell more and more in the next few months.

Some people just like to hate for the sake of it, even when there's good news lol.

Delta came out on Aug 26th, the 1m count is reported on Aug 28th.

Those are great numbers for active franchises, fantastic for a 'dead' one like MGS.

For reference, Koji Pro or Sony haven't even revealed Death Stranding 2 sales, what we know comes from unreliable sources like Alenia analysist.

Awesome news. Game is fire. They have to be bolder and more daring with the next remakes and hopefully brand new entry eventually though

I bought it through CD keys for £50. I've played through it many times before. Performance issues aside its a great remake and it looks fantastic at times, but £40-£50 RRP would have been more reasonable, like Oblivion.

Konami are probably banking on people's nostalgia to push it through even at a high price point and it seems like their gambit paid off.

We're complaining about it here but Konami are probably happier looking at those sales/shipments.

Not sure what their expectations were but hopefully its done well enough to warrant a full blown remake of the OG Metal Gear Solid.

Lets wait few more weeks, maybe good word of mouth will bump that sales number to 2 or even 3m total, but so far for big budget AAA game(yes, its remake, but still...) it doesnt look good, i think konami predicted those kinds of sales and didnt want to put another 3-6 months of dev time/optimisation for this very reason, it would blow up budget even more :messenger_astonished:
No matter how much love i got for mgs series/this particular entry, gotta call spade a spade here, altho ofc i hope for at least 3m copies total by year's end.

Shipments...meaning these are not actually copies sold to customers, necessarily (although given that majority sales are digital these days, I would assume it has at least 700-800K sold).

Whether the number is good or not depends on the game's budget, but given its asset quality and length of development, I doubt it is anywhere near reaching profit. I hope it reaches it though, I would not mind seeing all mainline games get this treatment.

Didn't they just polish the graphics and put in 3D camera?

It's still the game Kojima made.
Now Konami has good intentions in making good games... Silent Hill 2 remake, Silent Hill f, the MGS 3 remake... We have to support them.... Because we were in a Horrible time when they only made Pachinkos and gave crappy gems like Skelattack

Fair enough.

I personally don't have much faith in them making an amazing MGS without Kojima, but who knows?

I doubt this cost more than 20mil to make, given that its literally the PS2 game and all the devs had to do was make assets, and a few QOL improvements,.

I bet the game has probably already made 40mil for Konami, maybe even more when taking into account the different versions of the game, and the ridiculous price in some regions.

Yes but that doesn't disprove your point claiming they've proven the can do MGS without Kojima. It's literally the same game with some new animations. I would much prefer they stick to remaking, it would be hard for even the best studios to make a new Metal Gear, let alone the scraps of Kojima Productions and a bunch of rookie devs.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves. They outsourced a couple of remakes and we don't know how f will shake out yet.

Silent Hill 2 remake on PC the performance is shocking.

Until they bring back Pro Evo they will remain on my naughty list.

Deluxe buyer here. Great news. Makes the MGS1 remake next far more likely.
They would have to take a lot more risks with that. Gameplay from Delta and old level design will make it way too easy. Also will be interesting to see if they keep the vision cones.

I've played about 7 hours of it, having never played the OG MGS3, and it' s been decent. However, if this was a new IP released in 2025, it'd be taken apart and it certainly wouldn't be scoring in the mid-high 80s.

It's a UE5 upgrade but the controls are clunky and still smack of PS2/PS3 era gaming. The dialogue, direction and delivery are so over-the-top and dramatic that it's pure cheese at times, but entertaining none the less.
