MGS Delta surpasses one million at launch

1 mil....multiplatform.

MGS is dead.
Did the game stop selling? 1M in 1 week for an IP that has been dormant for a decade with a PC and PS5 only release, in a time single player games are dying is great.

edit: actually 1M was sold JUST on the day it released, not a wek. That's even more amazing. For a game people say its too damn expensive sounds quite great.

Yes but that doesn't disprove your point claiming they've proven the can do MGS without Kojima. It's literally the same game with some new animations. I would much prefer they stick to remaking, it would be hard for even the best studios to make a new Metal Gear, let alone the scraps of Kojima Productions and a bunch of rookie devs.
The only game left they can remake without substantially changing it would be MGS4. For both MGS1+2 a Remake like 3 won't do the trick as they have to update the level design - and with the updated level design they have to change the sequences and writing to some extent as well. It's gonna be interesting to see where they with the series now - if they go anywhere with it that is.

It accomplished something I didn't think it could do.
I feel I am playing the exact same game that I played originally, which is all I wanted.
Oblivion was the same way.
I say, keep them coming.

1 million sold, but Steam's CCU peaked at just 19K—Snake's still hiding?

I think Konami has proven that they can make a game without Kojima... They just need to have confidence and give their all... Let them make the NES Remake.
Honestly? The only thing i want from Metal Gear is remakes from all games and maybe actually have some story for MGS5 and that's it. Remake Metal Gear 1 and Metal Gear 2 (their true challenge). Do Peace Walker with MGS5 gameplay as well.

MGS 5 barely had much of a story amidst the barren waste-land that you wandered...it'll be difficult for Konami to revive the series or make a spin-off akin to Portable Ops...(though obviously a game that meets today's expectations..)

PS5 only? Let me check my Xbox

*As of 28 August 2025, according to our research

*Total of physical unit shipments and digital download sales
Shipped. Two days on sale.
Edit: Wait when did it release? Wiki (on Google) says 26th, other places say 28th.
It's just release day.

i want to say this as well, but i know there will be fans of him will bash more.
i want to play it, but i haven't got much time lately : /
I can only play on pc, but again, UE stutter fest bugs me

Nope, the only thing we know is via Alienia's estimates.

MG Delta released in early access on the 26th, general release was on the 28th and on the release date it already passed 1M shipments+digital sales.
Ok, that explains why I couldn't find anything. Yeah, not looking good for DS2 at all.

Wewh! I was really worried this thing didn't even hit 1M.

Hope this has legs this holiday and they patch it so we can get a green light for MGS1 and 2 remakes. I want those far more than 3.

Nice, I hope this gives them the green light and funds to do a more ambitious remake. Like metal gear 1/2. Or at least I hope they skip peace walker.

I'm bombarded with good games but I'm getting this as soon as there is an open spot. It's getting priority in the backlog.

Loved the OG MSG3 and it is one of my personal favorite games so I'm definitely the target for this.

They would have to take a lot more risks with that. Gameplay from Delta and old level design will make it way too easy. Also will be interesting to see if they keep the vision cones.
Not all games are supposed to be hard. They could just add extreme and European extreme difficulties.

It would be even more easy than The Twin Snakes. Do you think they should leave the vision cones or make it like 3? I think changing that might be too big of a change. I haven't played the games in higher difficulties.

Konami is going to try and make MGS6.

WAR HAS CHANGED
They are literally making an army of Kojima's to do that, which is basically a premise for a plot in a MGS game. Just add a character that meows and some mechs and they're good to go.

Should be interesting to see how it turns out.

Yea I hope they do MGS1 next. Reckon if they remove the soliton radar there could still be some challenge with Delta's gameplay.

I'm probably one of the biggest MGS fans here but I couldn't get myself to pull the trigger on this one just yet. I'd honestly say just wait until a few patches and price drops and you'll have the best experience at the best price.

Now Konami has good intentions in making good games... Silent Hill 2 remake, Silent Hill f, the MGS 3 remake... We have to support them.... Because we were in a Horrible time when they only made Pachinkos and gave crappy gems like Skelattack
You mean outsourcing their games to third party studios, right?

SH2 Remake was made by Blooper and SHF is being made by Neobards, with the story being written by Ryukishi07.

Even in MGS Delta, which is just MGS 3 with current gen graphics, Konami had to hire Virtuous studios to help them make....

Current Konami sucks at making games, but the good thing is that they probably realized that, hence the outsourcing.

I hope the game continues to sell well.

I'd love to see them remake the NES Metal Gear games. Those games need a full on remake more then any other entires in the series.

I just finished the fight with The End, and have just gone up the song ladder section. It's been years since I played this game and had the boss order all out of order in my head. This is one of those kinds of games you play over and over again, so there is some great value to it if you are up for it. I did the CD Keys thing and got it for like $54, and at that price I think it's worth it.
