Winter 2006.... :(

Good god I hope that date was just a mistake.

Probably means Jan-March, nothing TOO major but sad it's missing Christmas for bonus sales :(

Oh, man, and wtf at the US boxart for Subsistence. The JPN boxart is one thousand million trillion times better.

not as good as the japanese subsistence cover. but much better than the preposterous "face in the burning tree" us mgs3 cover.

This is what the original cover should've been...not good enough, Konami! And I have to wait until 2006? BLEH.

$49.99 is a bit steep for a rerelease. but i won't mind if they include the movie disc.

of course i'll buy it even if they don't include the movie disc :(

FU Konami for pricing this at $49.99. Should be $29.99 TOPS. Grrrr.

Then don't buy it until it hits $30.

Some day I will try to understand why companies need to change covers...

Test marketing--they test market ads and covers quite a bit, and go with what tests best.

I'm hoping for the 3rd disc cause if not I'm seriously considering importing either from Japan or Europe (Europe tends to get extras, they might get the 3rd disc). It's perfect for my sister who enjoys the series but is too weaksauce of a gamer to go through all of it, she loves the storylines though.

hah, same here. i have a sister who totally digs the MGS plot but never got the chance to see me go through MGS3. the 3rd disc would be perfect for this

If it's anything like MGS2:S, you might not find it on storeshelves long enough for it to hit the $30 pricepoint.

Well damn, I'm not going to take any chances. I want a new copy of Substance since my copy got scatched to hell and back, which pisses me off so bad considering how much I baby my games, but finding new copies MGS2:S is impossible.

I don't get it, Konami has been holding a bunch of tournaments for the online portion in Japan and Kojima recently said that the game is basically done. Why the delay?

BTW, we better get that third disc now or heads will roll.

By then, it'll be out of print and no longer available (i.e. MGS2: Substance all over again). Konami = Atlus on rereleases.

Hahaha you're full of it...MGS2:S PS2 and Xbox are both easy to find. :lol

I know it seems otherwise thanks to tradition and holidays, but winter starts in late-December and extends to late-March.

i dont think people were thinking Winter 2006 = December 2006

people are pissed cause everyone thought it would be released in November

also, MGS2:S PS2 easy to find? uhh, what

used copies of the ps2 version in horrendous condition are easy to find: blockbuster stocked lots of them for rent. copies in good condition -- let alone sealed copies -- are still moderately expensive on ebay, and difficult to find elsewhere.

There's two at EB and one at gamecrazy, and they're not Blockbuster cases (the rough texture of BB cases is unmistakeable)...Hrm.

Both Document of MGS2 and MGS2:S are readily available at both game specialty stores near me. And I'm not really in gamesville, so to speak.
Maybe that's EXACTLY why there still there :0

Matlock backs up his data on floppy disks, if that tells you anything.

WELL THEN, shows how much I know.

I haven't finished my MGS3 game yet, and with the other games coming out in Oct/Nov... I wouldn't mind it coming out later. :/

What the hell, someone said in the MGS4 thread that was old cover art. I hadn't seen it before, but how would they know what the art is gonna look like when Konami itself still shows the Japanese art on both the English and Japanese Subsistence sites.

I'm certainly hoping this isn't accurate. I've seen no actual announcement for North American packaging, special editions, features or release dates.

Last I checked (less than a week ago), there were two sealed copies of MGS2:S PS2 on Half.com, and both were going for over a hundred dollars. If you can find it easily, you either a) have found used copies in shitty condition (as drohne said), or b) are lucky and have a chance to make a profit. Off of me. Because I don't have it but want it.

Is substance realy that hard to find? I feel bad for buying a perfect used copy for less than $20 like 8 months ago and never putting it in my PS2 once :lol

It's strange that Konami US uses an MGS3:SE artwork for MGS3:S, but it's not bad though.
But the JP cover is > US imo.
Bigger version of the US box art.

Winter 2006??!!! Well, looks like I may as well just pick up the regular game for $19.99 now instead. Too many games to buy and play this month - aarrgh!!!!!

I think Wario's "announcement" that this is the US Subsistence boxart has been slightly premature. I see no indication of this image anywhere on Kojima Productions' or Subsistence's webite. Further, the image is no longer shown on Konami's small page for the game, which I assume was the original source.

Again, I've seen no US specific announcements regarding this game yet -- much to my disappointment.
