MGS3:Subsistence on Xbox?

In the newest issue of Play, there is a new preview for MGS3:S. In the Fast Facts box near the bottom of the page, it says that Play asked Konami if it would go to the Xbox. Konami would neither confirm nor deny the possibility of it showing up on the Xbox.

Play successfully announced the Sonic Gems collection for the Cube a few months before the announcement was made. Xbox fans, you have some hope.

xbox 360, I guess is his reasoning. But since xbox for the most part is dead already, makes little difference.

I don't think the Xbox is automatically dead once the 360 ships. There will be tons of Xbox owners who don't own a 360 and should be a decent amount of games shipping for it for a while I would think.

This isn't the Gamecube we are talking about here, now that's dead IMO.

i can't even think of 1 single Xbox game (that isn't multi-platform) worth getting after November

So? Who said that everyone owns a PS2?

And thats where the Xbox shines. Is the multiplatform games anyway. That unit usually gets the best version from a technological standpoint at least.

I'll go ahead and say that. Every gamer this generation should at least have a PS2 for at least 5 of its greatest games. It just comes down to either being biased or not. I call bullshit on not being able to afford other consoles after all these years. And it's a weak excuse to say that you don't like having more than one console.

I have had all 3. I still have my Cube and Xbox.

Quite frankly, I think your line of thinking is idiotic. People all have differing opinions, and they don't "have to have" anything. It's their choice and their money.

So not owning a PS2 = biased.

Call all the bullshit you want, but going bankrupt, not having a steady job, struggling to put food on the table, living below the poverty line = not being able to afford other consoles.

Not everyone is as well off as you seem to be.

Luckily, I have access to a PS2 and Xbox from my cousin, but I can't afford to go out and buy one. I've been selling off games and systems, just to put food on the table. The only games I picked up this year, through trades mind you, are Zelda: Minish and RE4 on Cube. Everything else I just borrow from my cousins. They're rich.

Glad you chimed in.

It's amazing what some people think isn't it? Hell, if I couldn't afford to feed my family, the first thing to go would be the video games. I don't need those to live and neither does my son or wife.

this thread should never have been made.

have some common sense, topic starter.

Why not?

I saw this little tidbit in Play, and I thought that I'd share it for people who don't get/read the magazine.

They were right about Sonic Gems Collection, among other things. Just wanted to give Xbox MG fans some hope. I guess I forgot where I was...

huh? this is what you base this whole thread on.

"Konami would neither confirm nor deny the possibility of it showing up on the Xbox"

so what are you going on about? What are they claiming here..

i dont see hope anywhere in a "no comment."

They asked them if the game would come out on Xbox. They didn't say no.

What's the point of releasing it on Xbox? By the time it comes out, MGS4 will be almost near completion. The main reason for releasing MGS3S is basically testing new things like online play and the new camera system to see if the fans like it or not

So you're broke but you're going to buy the $50 enhanced version of a game that is available for $19.99 now? huh?

What's the point of them releasing the new Castlevania on the Xbox?

Isn't MGS a more interesting prospect for the Xbox than the new Castlevania?

i wish they would put it on xbox. ps2 online gaming fucking sucks nuts for the most part, and i don't exactly have high hopes in this case.

oh well, i can live without it i suppose!

Honestly, if you can't find a couple of games on the PS2 that are worth buying the console for, then your gaming tastes are pretty peculiar, to say the least.

Um, who's buying anything? I don't even like MGS. Even still, I have no $$$ for food/clothes/bills. Do you really think I'll be buying a game?

As I said, I just posted it to show that maybe it's being considered for the Xbox. They are putting Castlevania on there after all.

Honestly, why is this seen as a bad thing?

Kojima said he liked xbox live and wanted to put MGS3S on Xbox but at the same time he said the R&D costs would be too high and it will take too long to port the game to the system.

MGS3S is all about getting it out there and collecting feedback from the fans so they can make further improvements to MGS4.

You seem to care enough to be making threads about it. :lol

I'm sure that they said that for subsistence a xbox port was considered because the online play, but they didn't have time to develop it because MGS4.

I think is shens :P

Why do people post the EGM rumours section? Why are scans from Japanese gaming mags posted?

Because they either have an interest in the games that the rumors pertain to, or want to see screenshots of a game they'll either import or buy when it comes out in the US. They don't start threads about games they're not interested in just to get into arguments with people who actually like the product.

What I said could be interpreted as a little ignorant, but it's not as ridiculous as using that pitiful excuse of being a pity hungy poor kid that can only afford a single console. If you just recently got into gaming, then that's understandable. Being a gamer, I play games, not consoles. I had put a lttle on the side every now and then to save up for each system, but you might not be old enough to hold a real job. Like I said, if you're young, it's excusable, but buying games that are a third the price of a PS2 or xbox and then spiffing the idea that you're below the poverty line is just trash.

"Get a job."

What is my annual income? What are my monthly expenses? No clue? OK then, so you're not qualified to make the above statement.

Even if the Xbox were selling at record numbers and had another year, I would seriously doubt it.

Kojima clearly has some sort of bias against the platform and its sequel, or at least a prefernence for Sony hardware at the expense of others.

Where did you get that idea from? He's said he thinks the 360 is a good system and he's really interested in the Revolution.

Speevy is angry that he won't get MGS4 on the 360. Can't say I blame him - I wouldn't want to miss it, but I'm not locked into MS either.

What has his team done for xbox bar a lame port ?

Botched Xbox port, no Gamecube development, mention of PS3 domination in the trailer for MGS4 (even if just a joke)

He clearly likes the Xbox 360 about as much as Itagaki likes the PS3.

Personally, I think that applies to the GC as well, as far as kids are concerned. I've met many kids (8 and under) who don't like PS2 at all.

At least XBots got a lame port, Itagaki hates Sony for some reason. That's okay though, his games with the exception of Ninja Gaiden are crap anyways IMO.

NG would have sold well on the PS2, if he actually wanted to make some money.

Heh, I'm old enough to be your old man, most likely.

When you have mouths to feed, a roof that needs to be kept over their head, bills to pay, as well as supplying the necessities of life like clothing, school supplies, and the like, gaming takes a back seat.

One day you'll realize that.

I had all the systems, but I had to start selling things off once I went through my savings. What was the first thing to go? My videogames. Why? Because games, in the greater scheme of things, are not a necessity. They're just a diversion.

So, before you go spouting off about how "real" gamers need to "save for each system", you should really ask yourself why they should need to own every system to be considered a "gamer". Just because someone doesn't have the time/inclination/money to own every system released, doesn't make him/her less of a "gamer" than you or me.

Actually, I have greater respect for those people who can limit themselves to one or two consoles, because they will most likely help decide the future of the industry. The ONE CONSOLE FUTURE!!

I read in one interview with Kojima that he contemplated making MGS3:S for Xbox, but decided against it as he estimated that despite it being online and thus a nice fit for Xbox live, it would be too much work for something that's essentially a side project. Thus only the PS2 version. That interview might have been couple of months old, around E3 probably, but that's basically exactly what he said.
