MGSV:TPP LAUNCH TRAILER

Out of all the crazy shit in Metal Gear, a whip is what sends you over the edge. Okay then.

Whip, corny sound effects (yes Rex and Ray had some mechanical groans, but they sounded awesome, this sounds like a parody of them) complete disconnect from the series technology (ala Peace Walker), and just far too many Peace Walker vibes.

For a regular game trailer this would be bad. For the very final Kojima MGS trailer though?!?! WTF? I was expecting MGS2 level e3 trailer spectacular. I thought he'd pull out all the stops and make something amazing. Instead we get a disjointed, strange and overall ugly trailer with some moments of greatness.

Yea Kojima has been working with Del Toro recently with P.T....

Not to mention that Shinkawa did a marketing poster for it:

You will never fight a rendition of this Metal Gear in Revengeance 2.

Why would snake talk while being chased by a metal gear? Too many games break the atmosphere by having guys ramble too much. Dialogue isn't always needed to add immersion. Drake's monologues and talking to himself in uncharted is great for that type of game, but for a darker game like this, dialogue isn't needed for intense scenes like that.

Agreed.

Hayter's snake may have let out a grunt or two of surprise, but that's about it. Also I thought you were talking about Drake the rapper until I read further. :D

Exactly.

I mean on other trailers we see BB working directly with SF and SF interrogating Chico 5 minutes before BB arrives at GZ.

The other insane interpretation does not make any sense.

Yup, there is no way you can pull something spoilery out of that image, we know they are not literally the same man.
It's metaphorical that they are the same as war corrupts both of them, not anything else.

This is Metal Gear, why are you applying actual logic to anything?

The fact a trailer is making you not want to buy one of the best games of the year is bizarre.

Trailer Spoiler Discussion
Personally, it's not the new metal gear stuff that I find spoilerish, it's this shot of Big Boss burned, transitionning into Skullface.

I mean, that has to be Big Boss after being burned by a lighter and spray can by Solid Snake in "MG2 Solid Snake"...

I suppose it's possible that it was made solely for impact in the trailer, but usually, when soemthing is modeled, it's because it has uses in-game. Then again, the Zombie Face Camo in MGS4 did exist after all, so who knows... Maybe it's just an unlockable skin used to great drama... But still, it would suck if Kojima spoiled the epilogue of this game in this trailer.

Oh wow, Quiet's Theme is actually performed by Stefanie Joosten (Quiet). Didn't realise she was a singer as well as an actress.

I was on the fence about this game sense hating peace walker, that single scene changed this from a 2015 purchase to a "I'll play it when ever I get around to it".

You might take trailers too seriously if a single scene from one generates enough contempt to make you drop a game before it's out. But after reading a few pages of this thread I guess it's the accepted norm to get worked up over trailers.

It's mind boggling, Kojima could just post a new screenshot of Snake's face without anything new and there would still be some guy who will tell how he lost interest in the game because of that.

I really do get annoyed when prequels have better technology than the sequels, so after they made this Metal Gear they just made Rex and Ray? Two obviously shittier Metal Gears and not to mention the technology that Big Boss is using like his map and GPS system that can see through walls. Guess everyone just forgot about those.

Anyways probably the worst trailer for this game which isn't to say it was bad, it was cool to see Kojima basically say goodbye to his series but after the epicness that was the previous trailers it just doesn't hold up. Red band and Elegia were the best.

I absolutely loved the scene where Big Boss
transitions into a demon, then ultimately to skullface
however I believe it's a metaphor as stated earlier.

The way he looks at the end of the scene transitions, the way his jaw sits - it reminds me of some shit straight outta terminator. Terrifyingly awesome. I would love if it was a playable skin/outfit.

So the spoilers are not actually spoilers some of you say? Ok, I don't mind anyways.

But the trailer was great as all Kojima trailers, it felt sad too, like an ending to the saga trailer. MGS is no more after this one :(

...unless Konami goes ahead and makes another main series entry without Kojima, but they shouldn't.

Iron Cog Rock kickstarter incoming?

We eva now.

You will never fight a rendition of this Metal Gear in Revengeance 2.

This is about putting the man into Metal Gear. By Revengeance era, its all about putting the Metal Gear into man.

Or Big Boss and crew kept them secret until someone else came up with similar concepts years later. It's not uncommon to lock up technology secrets so others can't reproduce them.

The last scene is a spoiler, it shows you a scene we never seen, probably reveal a Boss fight.

The first 3 minutes are not spoilery, there is a metaphorical image, but it's not a spoiler, don't understand how can anyone say otherwise.

So is time travel going to be a thing is this game?

Yea thats what Im talking about

Some french guy is streaming TPP on Ustream. And I heard it was on Twitch earlier. Anyone know of any stores that might break street date? Wal-mart maybe. I would love to buy it early here in the US.

Maybe this game is just a V.R. simulation happening to Solid Snake? Maybe Otacon's grandson invented time travel and sent this futuristic Metal Gear back in time? Maybe it is a psychic projection by a telepathic ghost?

However, if it's just anachronistic Metal Gear then I have to say this series is finally too silly for me to take seriously.

The Gekkos sound and shit like cows, but mecha whip-sword is too lame. Whatever floats your boat. I will give you anachronistic technology though none of that stuff makes any sense.

Should I watch it GAF, or is it worth skipping if only to keep a little bit more of the events of the game unknown to me so close to release?

Thank you for mentioning this. I will hold off on the trailer now until I beat the game.

Edit: Fuck I was too weak. Wasn't as spoilery as I thought. Right in the feels though this trailer...

It is not a spoiler, it is an overreaction and a misunderstanding of a metaphor.

It seems that way at least....

Who hurt you as a child?

How is that what pushes you over the edge?

It's already explained in the other games that The Patriots supposed technological advances.

In 2005 they have tiny micro robots that can heal you and control your emotions.

waiting until you beat the game to watch the trailer...what's the point? You've beaten the game.

This is suppose to be watched now.
