That looks more advanced then the stuff in MSG1,2, and 3 and maybe 4?
REX is the best. Absolutely iconic and timeless design, and best captures the sense of Metal Gear being a walking, mobile Nuclear tank.
This new one looks a LOT like REX, until it stands upright. I guess a continuity explanation could be that REX was built from the same rough blueprints, but either walking upright was deemed impractical or they just didn't have the resources to achieve another exact duplicate.
This looking more advanced than REX is fairly easy to get around, I think.

Yes, and i'm perfectly ok with it.
Having the series constantly go back and forth in time would often put you against metal gears that are less menacing/surprising/spectacular than the last one you fought.
This is the LAST metal gear you're ever going to fight. How anti-climatic it would be if it actually looked like something from 1984.
I wouldn't want that.
Yeah, the best part of the trailer is her voice. She is cute in real life.

Shagohod was fine. You can make primitive technology just as menacing as futuristic tech. It's all about context.

It was fine in MGS3, fitting and menacing enough.
But this is Kojima's last metal gear. It needed something Majestic. Although i would have liked a different design personally

Looking more advanced than REX doesn't really mean much if it isn't actually as powerful or has the same features. We can't forget RAY was a piece of shit compared to REX.

RAY was designed specifically to trample REX clones. It's superior as an attack vehicle. REX is a nuclear launch platform with limited self-defense.

In the context of the trailers, I think the songs are fine. When I watch the trailers I don't think "Ugh, this awful music." It's the idea of listening to the songs outside of the trailer that makes me go

I've been pronouncing it sa-lan-thropus, I'm probably wrong.
Could be Dubai. My understanding is they are responsible for a lot of broken street dates and early streaming. (It's a stereotype, but maybe someone pulling up to a GameStop in a Bugatti and flashing a ton of cash is a pretty good incentive to ignore the "Don't Sell Before" sticker?)

New Metal Gear looks awesome, I'm not sure how the missing link is more advanced (at least in appearance) than it's later counter part though. Good name, If I'm correct, sahelanthropus is one of our bipedal ancestors.

This is a huge treat for myself. I indulge myself heavily with Metal Gear. I absolutely adore the series.

The Patriots suppressed a lot of the technology in that era all the way up until there information was leaked post-MGS4.
In fact we will be seeing a lot more technology that was expanded on in Rising probably.

I have no idea what Hideo Kojima will do after he leaves Konami, but where ever he goes, I will be there day 1. Yu Suzuki, Shigeru Miyamoto, Hideo Kojima - the three greatest video game auteurs on the planet IMO. I own every single Hideo Kojima game - from Penguin Adventure to SD Snatcher to Boktai and everything else in between.
