MH World is having a massive Player resurgence

JokerMM

Gay porn is where it's at.
at least on steam, this game is having 100k player counts a day at peak
does anyone know wtf is going on?

Game went on sale and lots of people are experiencing it for the first time! I'm one of them.

Also just released for GeForce Now! So it opens up for a lot more people!! (Where I play it)

The game had it's lowest discount yet (8,89€) to celebrate TGA reveal of Wilds. Game already had a pretty healthy 30k peak concurrent.

All mission events are open for now (including some events related to movies and game colabs), plus 67% sale discount on steam.

Wish Monster Hunter games could hold my attention. They always feel so clunky and unengaging to me.

Yeah, I've tried Tri, Worlds, and Rise and at this point its clear the series just isn't what I'm looking for. It sounds cool on paper, I'm just not a fan of the gameplay itself.

Have you tried Rise? It's more nervous than World , no unskippable cut scenes and all around more fun than any other MH in my opinion. The difficulty is just enough and also less grind than previous games. I really recommend!

Do what I did and either wait for a fun spinoff game...

...or play another game from Capcom where you can hunt and climb on monsters...

...or give a competitor a shot...

If I could skip the boring Main Quest and get into the HR quests straight away I'd jump back into the PC version

I've jumped back in myself. Started fresh. Been trying some new weapons. Lance. Charge blade. They were fine. But holy crap coming back to insect glaive… it just feels so right. I will say though, as my first time really putting time into CB, god damn I didn't know the powered up axe state could put out that much damage.

Rise was disappointing and most of the times didn't really even feel like an MH game. And with the Wilds trailer, people got excited again to play MH. So they went to World, which is the best in the series.

Pretty sure it'd be seeing a resurgence in players across all available platforms. Dunno why the article only specifies Steam; gonna guess it's because player counts are publicly visible.

A move that I feel the consoles should do as well, TBH. I don't get the reason behind not publicly listing player counts...well I might can understand to a degree with Microsoft 🥴. Sony and Nintendo less so.

Worlds is the most entry level and accessible I've ever seen the series, unless the next one literally plays the game for you like some FF XII Gambit system I can't see any it getting any easier.

World has proven to be much more popular than Rise.
I don't know if it's because of the better graphics, the more grounded combat, the multiplayer mechanics, the more universal setting or the bigger audience on consoles.

I think it's all of the above.

It's not the difficultly that's the issue. It's engagement and fun factor.

I'm trying to convince some friends to give this one a try.

How does it play with 3 players?

I can't go back to it after playing Rise. It looks pretty but there's a reason why Rise streamlined a lot of the mechanics and it has the perfect gameplay balance.

I imagine Wilds will be a improvement on that while giving the series a graphical facelift.

Make the console versions have free online and I'll get back in it. Otherwise lol scam.
Agreed. I enjoyed the PS4 version so much. So many hours put into it. I did everything there was to do. What an amazing game. I retired shortly before the Ice expansion.

I'd enjoy getting back into it, but not at the cost of PlayStation Plus (now over $100 CAD after tax in Canada).
