Michael Mann's 'Heat' released 30 years ago today

Well, I guess I know now what I was doing Friday night 30 years ago :P

Saw this in a theater by myself, so definitely was between girlfriends at the time :P

Top 5 of all time. I was the only kid at summer camp that brought the soundtrack CD with me to listen in my CD player at the rifle range. We were only firing .22's but with that "New Dawn Fades" in the background I was Chris Shiherlis.

The movie had a profoundly massive influence on the way I looked at shot placement, story and character construction and the power of a proper soundtrack. And I was 12 when it released.

And frequently, have I played "Last Nite" in the background while making some cocktails and serving a date at my place :pie_smirking:

A classic at the time. I mean instantly a 90s top drawer movie

And a legend of crime cinema that has only aged like a fine wine, with every passing year

Still not sure of the sequel. But even if it fails. It won't tarnish heat

An essential watch. At least a couple of times a year 😎❤️

Easily, easily one of the best movies of all time. It is incredible. I absolutely love it and I watch it at least three times every year.

This gif encapsulates the movie perfectly:

Two guys at the opposite ends of the spectrum who not only deeply respect each other but are way more similar to one another than either of them would ever care to admit.

And the bank heist, good lord. Still second to none after all this time.

Love this movie.

Heat lovers should check out Triple 9: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1712261/

I think it's a better Heat-like than The Town. Granted, I also had a bad experience with The Town as my first viewing was the Director's Cut where Affleck added a ton of love-story to an already fairly love-story tilted film.

I pity the folks that will watch this film and not realize that the actors themselves, at least Pacino, DeNiro, and Kilmer, brought so much of their previous filmography into the roles and just to have a scene with Pacino and Deniro sitting in a diner was just a woooooooooooooooooow moment. If you aren't aware of those actors and what they had done before the film, I think, hits a bit differently.

Then again, I'm sure a bunch of the youngin's watch it now and wonder why that grumpy guy from the Fokkers seems to mean to everyone :P

First time I saw it I wanted Neil McCauley's house and 30 years later, I still do.

An epic film.

I just wish they'd fleshed out Vincent a bit more with his alleged coke addiction making him how he is throughout the film.

One of my top 5 favorite movies of all time

Same here it's so damn good, first time I watched HEAT as an adult when it ended and the Moby song comes on I just sat there in awe knowing I just watched one of the GOATs.

"I had to get it on, man. He was making a move! I had to get it o-"

Haha I frequently use this gif when someone posts something I disagree with or when McCauley executes Waingro 😆

Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember one of the big hypes around this movie at the time was about seeing two absolute titans of acting sharing screen time together, aka DeNiro & Pacino sitting at that table having a conversation, for me it was the biggest draw for this movie

How has this not been posted yet. This is one of the funniest scenes of any movie to me. Pacino was PERFECT.

"Empathy was yesterday. Today, you're wasting my motherfucking time."

Watching it in the cinema for the first time I always loved how the music kicks in as the Regency logo comes up on screen and that first guitar chord in the Kronos Quartet tune always gives me the feels.
