Anybody play around with the super tiny radio controlled cars?
I picked up some Zip Zaps at Radio Shack, on a whim, a few weeks back and they proved to be really fun. I got some extra body kits so I can recreate the first race from 2 Fast 2 Furious, 'cuz that's important. I got the SE version, which means I get an analog wheel to control with, and multi channels support, plus headlights.
Now, I understood these to be a knock-off of the Bit Char-G line that had been tearing up tiles kitchens in Europe and Asia. They brought the line over here, under the name of Microsizers, so I tacked them down at a local hobby shop and got a yellow Lancer.
The Bit Char-G\Microsizer was $30 for one car where the Zip Zaps are $25, and I got mine for $14. But the Bit Char-G just sucks. I seriously think that's it's broken. It has so much trouble recieving the signal, it's range is ass, and it is slow unless the "turbo" button in depressed. Plus the controls aren't analog, it's just on\off style steering.
THninking I'm going to return the Bit Char-G Lancer for another one, give it a second try, but it's obvious that the Zip Zaps are fuller featured overall. Headlights don't mean much, but analog steering and throttle do.
I'll post some pics, I think, to bump this thread tommorow, but in the mean time, does anybody else mess with these things? What do you find to be a good brand. Note that at present, normally scaled RC cars interest me nada.
