Sweet Billy Pilgrim, it's like, music, man.
I don't think publishers will like being told to lower the price of their games. I think they want to sell them at full price no matter what.MS can spin this whole thing if games come out to be cheaper. More legitimate sales could lower the prices of games faster, then publishers could pass that on to consumers. Thats the story I would run with.
they better never have a Simcity level issue
I can't imagine the crazy backlash coming
to be fair my Wii U is always online but I can't imagine not being able to play MonHun because Miiverse is down
I despise the Playstation controller. I have much preferred my 360 this generation. I still love Gears of War. I could deal with Kinect if the technology improved. I actually like XBox Live and don't mind paying for it.
Yet I shall be pre-ordering a Playstation 4 the minute that always-online XBox is confirmed... Unless the announcement is when the shops aren't open, but you GET MY DRIFT.
On a positive note, at least the console war won't be as ferocious. With 360 vs PS3 both had their advantages, but now.........
PS4ever.
You and I need to get away from this thread alreadyReplace GoW for Halo and it's the same for me.
What happened? I just got here.
edit: oh shit, 66 pages?! Even more curious now.

It's funny how Microsoft has not made any next gen announcements, and we don't even know what the ps4 console physically looks like (or final specs), yet folks are choosing sides....
Okay, from what I've read of only the first page and the last few pages:
1. MS developer says some douchey things defending the always online thing.
2. Random reddit user claims he worked with said developer and that he was in fact, a douche.
3. Wonderful gaffer finds post confirming part of random reddit user's testimony.
Is that it, or did I miss anything else?
I'm not sure where that poster who does thread recaps is -- but I'll try my best..
- NeoGAF user Shinobi screen caps the tweets of Adam Orth, Creative Director at MSFT Studios.
- These tweets contain the fallacious analogies you see in OP -- in defense of an always-online console box.
- In conjunction with the Kotaku thread about the always-online rumors, this thread blows up.
- The story is picked up by popular gaming sites including CVG, Verge, Kotaku, and others.
- David Jaffe attempts to defend the character of Adam -- but particularly his comments regarding rural towns in the US and their online infrastructure.
- Adam attempts to excuse the tweets as jokes and locks his twitter account.
- Detective-GAF then finds an alleged dev on a separate forum claiming one should keep up with their ISP bills (implying some truth to the rumor).
- Detective-GAF then confirms that alleged dev to be an actual developer working on next-gen games.
- The story continues to blow up on reddit, reaching the front page with thousands of comments.
- A user in the reddit thread claims Adam is an ass in person and he insists on being called 'sweet billy.'
- Detective-GAF then confirms Adam's is in fact, sweet billy, here on GAF.

sorry if that's already been mentioned
So if always online is so great, why did MS restrict online behind a pay wall all this time?
You missed this:
I moved house recently, and i don't know how it works in the good ol' US of A, but here in the UK its customary to lose internet for 3-5 weeks when you move.
Steam worked in offline mode for a week, then insisted on being reconnected again before letting me play my own games. The homicidal, impotent, game-denied rage i felt during this time is not something i want to experience again.
The priceless part for me is that his one GAF post features him apologizing for his IM comments potentially reflecting on Sony in a negative light.[*]Detective-GAF then confirms Adam's is in fact, user sweet billy, here on GAF.
I honestly can't think of a scenario where Adam DOESN'T get fired.
Poor guy. Should've kept his mouth shut.
