Midnight Club 3 Rox!

While i was banned i decided to actually play games.

Man MC3(got xbox version) is unbelievable. I hated MC2 because of the unforgiving diffculty and the bland city. MC3 is just blowing me away the amount of carnage on screen plus the great track design make this the most exciting racer i have played including BO3.

There is something about 8 choppers and racing through a ton of cars on the freeway that gives me a huge rush. The amount of traffic and pedestrians on screen as you race through the city coupled with the sense of speed is truly aweinspiring....atleast for me.

The frame rate does dip a bit during heavy rain but does not effect the gameplay at all.

The online racing is really fun but if you have not put atleast an hour in the career mode dont even bother trying to come online or else you will get blown away.

9.5/10

MC2 was fun as hell online, was... ok in Career mode(AI wasn't random enough in it's path taking IMO), how is MC3's career mode? Is it just a means to unlocking better vehicles to have more fun online?

CAreer mode is much improved over MC2. Its more fun than online The AI is better and completely random at times. The unlocking and customization of cars is fun and simple enough that a GT4 and forza hater such as my self can get into as well.

The career mode is suppose to take 20 hours the track design is much improved and it makes a hell of a difference in the races.

I'm actually kind of surprised at how little love MC3 seems to be getting on GAF. I picked up Midnight Club 3 (Xbox) along with Jade Empire, and popped it in to check it out before I started my adventure. Instead, I ended up playing it for the last two nights running, while JE sits here in the shrinkwrap. The game's just that awesome. Between the free-roaming cities, licensed vehicles, tons of customization and upgrade options, and arcade-y physics (this definitely isn't a sim racer), it's pretty much everything I've been looking for in a racing game. If you like arcade-style racers, you owe it to yourself to check this one out.

Darien: Career mode is the meat of the game this time around. No traffic from in online races really takes away from the experiance IMO. But still fun online.

The career mode is addicting.

Rockstar must not have shipped many copies, it took me three trips to finally get one. I haven't played it yet, hopefully get cranking on few games tomorrow...

funny, I enjoyed MC2 more for some reason. Then again I played the PC version which looked 100x better than the console versions, and had custom soundtrack option.

PS2. when I was at the store it's the only version that was in, and I couldn't wait. maybe I'll trade it back in for the Xbox version, especially for custom soundtrack

Absolutely LOVE the game, but...

- Special moves seem kinda worthless. (Bullet-time, Jedi force-push thing)
- LA had -way- more crazy jumps, shortcut and airtime opportunities in MC2 compared to SD in MC3. (Haven't seen Atlanta/Detroit yet)
- Framerate in the rain is kind of a bummer, but still highly playable.
- Stupid personal nitpick: I miss the rival banter during the races of MC2. You race a bunch of unknown's in MC3 that never speak. MC2 had more flava in it's campaign...even if it was a bunch of goofy stereotype caricatures you race, it was at least something.

+ Despite all the licensing and 'street cred' this game exhibits, it -never- inundates you like a typical EA game, you don't feel the game is "speaking" to the lowest common denominator. Rockstar pretty has this balance down to a science, it shows really well here, they treat their content and the player with utmost respect, and it's hard not to appreciate the game more for it.
+ Tuning is AWESOME! I bought the game for the racing thrills and traffic swerving, but end up addicted to pimping my ride.
+ Wider streets, shorter races, seemingly less traffic. The game is much easier than MC2...so far. Earning golds happens most on a single attempt. Might get brutal later?
+ Still has instant pause-restarts! Awesome!

Amazing racer. Sell your Burnout 3's!

I agree as well.. I kept trying to add a few posts every few hours to keep the other post from dying... The game is the best racer I have ever played. Period

Good to know since I too didn't care for MC2 due to the unforgiving trial and error nature of the races.

I'll be picking it up this weekend.

Holy smokes this is golden. Rockstar has nailed the "just one more race" crackpipe feeling perfectly! Hilarious AI, the cops go after everyone, not just me, and drifting in my souped up ride just feels right every time. A lot more forgiving this time around, and whipping around listening to Don Johnson's "Heartbeat" beats that licensed nonsense hands down. You see EA - you provide the OPTION and let us decide for ourselves what music we want to listen to.

Between this and Ridge Racer PSP, arcade racing is experiencing a long overdue revival. :D

Just wanted to co-sign what everyone has been saying about this game. Just a really awesome game. I tell you honestly that I have so much fun with this game, and since my time is very limited during the day, I still find time to squeeze in a few races. I was a huge fan of mc2 and even though I was not happy about the 30fps of mc3, I believe mc3 is much improved over mc2. Just a flat out fun game, nothing more nothing less. Buy it. 1ne.

I dont really have the time to get this now (completely hooked on MLB for PSP), but this is surprising and nice to hear. I'll give the Xbox version a spin (double pun, woo!) sometime down the line.

Any other component users experience the game switching to black screen momentarily during gameplay? it's happened to me twice now.

I want that Midnight Club 3 cardboard stand they have in all the game stores... the one with some Atlanta skyscrapers in the background... how do you go about getting one of those cardboard stands anyways?

Just ask your local store(s)' manager. Once they're done with the promotional period, it probably goes into recycling anyways.

I started playing this last night and was up until 2. Spent a good 4 hours with it.
This game is so freakin sweet. I'm lovin the cars and the fact that no matter how badly you screw up in a race there is always a chance to you can still get back in it and win. Slipstream boost > all.

I couldn't get it to work with HDloader though. Game runs fine but the music in-game doesnt' seem to work at all.

I like the powerups as well. It kinda makes this game feel like a mature mario kart in a way. Does the competion utilize the powerups other then slipstream and nitrous? I like being able to send out a shockwave of 'Roar' right as a driver is rounding a corner. It makes them screw up so bad and cause big pileups in crashes.

This game must have more high speed thrills than any racing game in recent memory.

I especially like launching off platforms and jumps ala SF Rush, barely maintaining control of your vehicle as you try to position yourself for the upcoming turn.

I like the game a bit. Like every 3rd party title, I bought the Xbox version. I played it, though couldn't help but notice how frigin' jaggy and poorly anti-aliased the cars were. My cousin picked up the PS2 version and I saw him playing it later that night and while the game didn't look as crisp/sharp as the Xbox version, the cars were a lot smoother looking. Needless to say, I exchanged the Xbox version for the PS2 version -- first and only time it's ever happened with a multiplatform title.

I am surprised this game is not getting much recognition around here. It has made my copy of Jade Empire stay locked up in it box until I finished MC 100%. I am having almost as much fun with MC as I did with Burnout 3 last year.

Midnight Club 3 does kick some serious fucking ass... and I HATED MC2 with a passion. It's a really great arcade racer and its racing aspect IS better than Burnout 3's but it not's necessarily more fun.

i am playing the ps2 version and it is in my opinion only good, but not awesome and not better than need for speed underground or the fabolous burnout 3!

- framerate sucks ballz
- bad controls during boost
- to much luck needed for races
- AI is dumber than dumb
- music is only average to bad (just like mc2)
- many courses, you have to play more than one time, because you make one mistake and lose
- that mexican from the tuning shop

+ good tuning aspect
+ perfect car selection
+ bikes
+ citys look awesome and lively
+ better motivation then nfs2: underground
+ many gameplaymodes

Hilarious AI, the cops go after everyone, not just me, and drifting in my souped up ride just feels right every time.

agree, they chase after me, but not the after the AI >:O
