its wierd as child I loved the stuff but I cant even take a sip anymore without wanting to throw up.

but the thing is I can have milk in tea/cornflakes etc... and I feel fine.

Im starting to think this hate for milk might just be something in my head. maybe I drank gone off milk as a child or something and just surpressed it.

Well we aren't actually supposed to drink milk when we get to a certain age because it's unnatural. You don't see animals sucking milk out of other random animals then processing it do you? Err.. where was I going with this? .. to the tap, to get some WATER. (what)

Wow....just...

Wow.

Anyway, I've had the same problem for my entire life. I've found that skim or 1% doesn't make me ill, give that a try.

Welcome to lactose intolerance... I have similar issues... some milk products are ok.. some... well thinks don't work real well.

I've generally found that if I eat a milk product I think is going to cause me problems if I have a glass of water afterwards I'm usually ok. Sounds goofy but works for me.

yeah - i find that too (the glass of water trick)

apparently full fat milk doesnt have as harsh an effect (is what i meant to say pre-edit) due to the fat slowing the absorption of lactose (or something)... who knows, im not willing to try it :D but my lactose intolerance prevents me from eatin most cheeses, ice cream etc.. sucks.. which, coupled with being vegetarian, almost makes me an involuntary vegan :p

I can digest processed foods which contain milk (cheese, ice cream, etc) but not drinking it straight. I can't stand it anyways, I stick with soy. SOY FOR LIFE BABY!

Only azn playboyz drink ricer milk! *runz*

I kid, but I used to be severly averse to milk when I was born, but now I can drink it with the best of them. Life without milk would be no life at all. Of course there is rice and soy milk so everything is still good in the world.

The Mrs. is lactose intolarant, but she can drink this milk all day long and not get sick. I started drinking it and I won't go back to normal milk. Their 1% is like "normal" 2%. This is some damn good milk, and it's better for you. :)

It's been years since I drank straight milk from a glass, or ate a bowl of cereal. Soy and rice milk seem to spoil my stomach as well. I need to order some Lactaid pills.

Milk is vile.

Any drink that allows me to chew it has to be disgusting. There's nothing more disgusting than that sticky feeling a little bit of milk gives you in your mouth.

I used 2% in my cereal for a while, but I don't even eat cereal anymore.

It's beyond me how anyone could possibly enjoy drinking milk straight.

My mother says I was lactose intolerant as a child and drank soy milk instead of milk. Do people outgrow that problem? Because if I eat too much cheese I have bad stomach problems.

Milk might be more to your liking if you payed attention to expiration dates.

Milk is meant solely for infants. And the milk you drink isn't even meant for humans. http://notmilk.com

Two very flawed arguments when you consider that given that logic, nothing is "meant" for humans to consume. It's the food chain, man. We're at the top, and when we're tossed into the ground, we turn into dirt and it all starts over again.

Also, it's not like your bones stop needing calcium at 18. Sure, there are other ways to get it, but milk's arguably the cheapest, easiest, and most "natural" way to get your daily dose. Protein, too.

By this logic, we should not even wear cloths, cook food, play video games, take a shower, shave, and so many other things. But We do. It's human way.

I've always been like that. I could never drink a glass of straight milk, but I'm fine if its in my cereal.

What the fuck kind of argument is that? We're at the top of the food chain, so we might as well consume anything that slides down our throats? No creature on the planet is meant to consume milk after infancy. Neither is the human body, and that's why most cultures in the world are lactose intolerant (aside from those that have relied on dairy for some time and have somehow developed a tolerance, despite what milk can do to you). You can get more than sufficient amounts of calcium from other sources, and there have been many studies that show numerous health drawbacks.

Milk the "most natural" way to consume calcium? Where the hell did you get that idea...aside from the dairy industry? There is nothing natural about a human drinking the milk of a cow, meant only for baby cows. And there is a reason why people and animals become lactose intolerant after infancy. It's no coincidence.

And yes, you can consume too much calcium. So keep chuggin down those pints of milk, buddy.

By this logic, we should not even wear cloths, cook food, play video games, take a shower, shave, and so many other things. But We do. It's human way.
Again, laughably flawed argument. It's "natural" for humans to do anything that benefit's their survival and health. But when you filter out the shit that the dairy industry (who else?) has been pumping out for decades, you'll find a lot of evidence from studies that show milk is not good for you in many ways. By your logic, we should eat sulfur because hey, we're humans and it's not unnatural for use to do ANYTHING! WHOOOOOOOO HUMANS, REPRASENNNNT!

And please, enough of the "you need milk for calcium" argument. Scroll to the bottom: http://notmilk.com/deb/092098.html

And if you want to argue that milk is an essential part of the human diet, explain to me how cultures that don't drink milk survive so well.

And by the way, I'd been drinking milk all my life up until a year ago. I suddently stopped because I finally read up on the truth about consuming milk, and I've felt better and healthier ever since, with far fewer runs to the toilet.

That site is pretty interesting. Didn't realize there was highly addictive casomorphin in milk chocolate. The article also talks about the slavery involved in the cocoa farming process.

I don't think I could boycott all dairy products, because I happen to be a fan of the cheese. Particularly that on pizza.

You can consume too much of anything, even water. I never advocated otherwise. I admittedly had clumsy wording in that reply, I was hoping you'd look past it (too lazy to edit, quite frankly). But what I simply meant was that as far as my knowledge on the subject goes, calcium isn't much without vitamin D, and milk comes with plenty of that as well. It's the easiest way to integrate calcium, and the other minerals and vitamins into your diet in one shot.

But if you'd like to justify how we're not supposed to drink milk based on anything other than "it comes out of a cow," I'm all ears. I hope not everything you've based this idea on came from sites like notmilk.com.

I mean, shit. There are sites out there that claim meat causes cancer. Not any kind of meat in particular - because the argument probably falls apart without broad generalizations - just "meat." Should we avoid that now as well because a few people have a theory with nothing solid to back it up other than their own research, which could be just as selective in its reasoning as the lobby that says "Beef will turn you into a God?"

Anyway, it's not like it comes with a label saying who should drink it and who shouldn't. There are certain "natural" things we should avoid at all costs, like - for example - poisoned mushrooms or Nightshade. But judging by the size of the dairy industry, I'd like to know how you arrive at the conclusion that people become lactose intolerant after infancy, because the implication is there that we should all be avoiding milk and products based on it like the plague, and the entire state of Wisconsin would have the messy toilets to prove it.

You're basically ruling out almost all "dairy" products that don't come out of soy beans or rice, which is a pretty excessive thing to do unless you're a vegan or have a rather delicate constitution where even looking at a slice of Kraft American fucks you up. If that's your bag, that's fine.
