Mindhunter (Netflix) could get closure with 3 films from David Fincher

"Mindhunter" star Holt McCallany recently revealed to Cbr that he has spoken with David Fincher about the potential return of the acclaimed Netflix serial killer drama, which ran for two seasons in 2017 and 2020. The show centered on FBI agents in the late 1970s as they launch a task force to interview serial killers as a way of understanding their pathology. If "Mindhunter" does return, however, it won't be as a series.

"I had a meeting with David Fincher in his office a few months ago, and he said to me that there is a chance that it may come back as three two-hour movies, but I think it's just a chance," McCallany revealed. "I know there are writers that are working, but you know, David has to be happy with scripts."

"Mindhunter" was more or less canceled in January 2020 after Netflix released cast members from their Season 3 contracts.

Fingers crossed.

I've still to watch this but it's one I've wanted to get around to for a while. I really liked Holt McCallany in The Iron Claw, he was a great choice for Fritz Von Erich.

3 films? yea this is not happening
It just being described as "a chance" does strike me as being the kind of things that Fincher might do at some point as part of his Netflix deal. But it not being actively worked on does make it seem unlikely it will go beyond that.

It's been a while since I watched Mindhunters, but what DEI stuff was inserted in Season 2?

At some point show forgot what it was about (minds of serial killers) and focused good chunk of the story on problems of black American communities. What the fuck? This was 100% inserted by Netflix politics at the time, same shit happened to umbrella academy season 2.
