REGINA - Some unhappy football fans took their anger out on the home of Saskatchewan Roughrider Paul McCallum in Regina Sunday night.

The Rider kicker missed two field goals in Sunday's CFL West Division Final against the B.C. Lions in Vancouver, including an 18-yard attempt in overtime.

The Riders lost 27-25, sending the Lions to the Grey Cup game against the Toronto Argonauts in Ottawa next weekend.

Staff Sgt. Ron Buddecke of the Regina Police Service says McCallum's wife called police after an excessive number of cars drove by their Regina home.

The house was later pelted with eggs and a load of manure was dumped off, along with notes directed at McCallum. Buddecke says other threats were also made against McCallum.

He says police know at least one of the individuals involved, and charges will be laid.

If this is OK, I think that FSU kickers should be informed of the free lawn care they will be receiving for the rest of their life when they sign the agreement to play for the school. ;)

Why it will always suck to be the place kicker. You aren't considered a real football player, and you are more likely to take the blame then anyone for a close loss.

I was going to post this last night, but I couldn't find a news story on it.

Saskatchewan really doesn't have much else besides the CFL. Kinda sad.

Sure, but he missed an 18-yard kick. That's unbelievable. He even said himself that the loss was entirely his fault. He wouldn't even go into the locker room, saying he couldn't face the team.

And you think that's acceptable behaviour? Because he missed a field goal in a fucking football game, his family should be threatened?

If that's my house and I ever found those jackasses, they'd be spitting blood out of their throat.

According to the radio DJs this morning (I live in Regina), the poop dumpers missed his house and dumped it in his neighbour's yard. :lol

And he may be blaming himself, but the defence shouldn't have let it get to OT to begin with. BC was 2nd and 18 (CFL is 3 downs, remember) and converted a 40 yard pass to get in FG range. Come on.

Also, he shouldn't have missed, but the uprights are at the front of the endzone in the CFL, and when kicking from one of the hashes, it's a tough angle to hit that close.

Oh well, it's just a game. The people who did this are assfucks.

If I fall under the "you people", then you misunderstood the context of my reply. Because otherwise, there's just one person that condoned what happened.

No, your post wasn't filled with stupidity. And missing an 18 yard kick is pretty unbelievable, though it was from a very sharp angle (as someone pointed out, the goal posts are at the front of the endzone instead of the back like the NFL).

Just to add to what you said, it's the equivalent of posts 3/4 the distance apart or something, so it's more difficult than it looks. But they usually split it down the middle from that distance, regardless.
