By the time you get it nobody will play it anymore.

That is how the online world goes sans Halo 2.

No lag I could notice.

The only lag is when you're searching for opponents, with the server woes today it can take five minutes or longer.

I have no idea where Johnny Nightrain is but I played him in a few races and it was fine for me. No different to playing other people in Australia.

I had two really laggy games tonight. Opponent was jumping all over the track. The rest of the evening it's been nothing but error codes and getting disconnected from WFC. :'(

Its a racer so lag isnt really a big issue. The games i played were laggy (opponent bouncing around) but it didnt effect anything.

Whereby lag in most games looks like a player disappearing and reappearing in another spot,
Mario Kart corrects the player's position by actually steering the kart sharply in the proper direction. In this way, its sometimes tough to distinguish a player's lag from a really fast turn.

I'm not sure if that was clear or not.

No lag yet!

Oh wait, that's just single player

:(
I'm with your brother but hopefully for not much longer. At least we'll race with the unlockable characters. :)

so could the opponenet be in fron of you, but he's actually not? what if you fired an item on him/her

probably.

I think what it does is minimize the appearance of lag, but obviously not the lag itself. So yes, something like that can and does happen.

But seriously though, there's really very little lag. Especially if you play regional games.

I played a few rounds around 1:00 PM today, before the system got bombarded and didn't notice any lag at all. No disconnects either. Some prick kept picking Yoshi Falls though.

There was definitely lag in the 4 player matches but since the majority of items are homing it doesn't effect too much. I mean if you're aiming a green turtle shell or trying to drop a banana it might effect you but otherwise...

58-12 and i have yet to experience a match with lag..
No wait i take that back.. i went agst a guy in japan and he was mr hoppy all over.. but lost and it didnt affect me much.

Can you play online with players from the US/JP/EU regardless of which version you get, or is it (stupidly) regionally closed?

Wonder if Nintendo's frantically getting more servers up, ala an MMO launch?

Seriously, this easy/safe/free slogan is worthless if the fourth buzzword is "broken." The 10% of gamers who already play will be all Nintendo has left if the ones who are averse to it walk away with a bad first impression.
