The Dodgers' decision to drop their pants and bend over would be a lot less maddening if the Cardinals weren't doing everything in their power to give away their wild card spot.

People are actually suggesting Votto is "killing the vibe in the clubhouse", so the team isn't playing well. Haha Jesus Christ.

It makes me really angry that if we hadn't bent over for the fucking loser Padres, we'd be in a wild card position right now.

St. Louis is begging anyone else to take their wild card spot, but the Dodgers just can't do it. The Dodgers with this wild card spot = Combine with a drunk girl sitting on his couch.

Just read about McCarthy. How does that kind of thing not happen more often? I only read about beanballs, not about pitchers getting hit.

But then again, I'm probably just not following baseball closely enough.

Jayson Stark on a massive tie scenario:

Is it possible that, if there's a three-way tie, a team could have to play five games in five days in five different cities? We're afraid it is. Not likely, but it is.
Let's say the Yankees, Rays and Orioles all finish with the same record. Their first order of business would be to decide the AL East champ. That would take two days.

If nothing significant changes in the next few weeks, the Rays (who have the best head-to-head record against the other two teams) would get to decide whether they want to play two home games to break that tie or let the other two teams play and face the winner on the road.

Once the division is decided, if the AL East "losers" were tied for the second wild-card spot, they would have to play again to break that tie. So it's possible the Orioles, for instance, might have to play Wednesday in Tampa Bay, Thursday in New York, Friday in Baltimore, Saturday in Oakland/Detroit/Anaheim/Chicago and (depending on game times and logistics) Sunday in Baltimore.

I hope you realize that at least I'm being sarcastic. It's just two rough innings by two pitchers that cost the Reds that game. Votto has been on base nearly every AB so far.

It was a fun year with Strasburg. Finally... a year of Strasburg is in the books. He was nasty. Can't wait to see him again.

He threw 120 more innings than last year, he's coming off Tommy John, and he's been struggling for a while. Smart move to shut him down now, but they really should think about bringing him back for the playoffs.

Braves announce Andrelton Simmons will rejoin the team for the series against the Brewers on Monday. Also, Ben Sheets will throw a simulated game while the Braves are in Milwaukee. Sheets is eligible to be activated from the DL on September 10.

I like the Nationals, but their management can DIAF. The perfect ending to this story would be for the Nats to flame out in the playoffs, miss them the next few years, and Strasburg LOL CYA-ing to a team that doesn't make him turn his head and cough after every start.

sounds like a lost season for the Dodgers. They should just focus on reloading for next year, getting all their high priced bats to actually hit. They weren't going far with Kershaw and scrubs for a pitching lineup anyway.

As awful as the Pirates are playing, the Dodgers and Cardinals are comparatively awful... If we could just go on a mediocre streak and go .400-.500 the rest of the season... we just might nab that 2nd wild card spot!

The perfect ending to this story would be the Nats winning the WS for the next 6 years while Strasburg wins CY Young every year and sets a 27 strikeout perfect game. Twice.
