Last year, we shared information earlier in the season and we aim to continue that going forward. With that said, see below for a sneak peek at a few of our areas of focus for MLB The Show 26:

Gameplay

Gameplay continues to focus on delivering the most authentic on-field baseball experience. We're focusing on advanced logic and new data metrics… redefining ratings, pitch effects and bat ball physics.

Diamond Dynasty

Now and Later Packs are just the beginning. We will continue delivering engaging content for players to live their MLB fantasy as well as new ways to play and use your squads.

Road To The Show

Experience the ultimate player's path; building off '25, MLB The Show 26 takes Road To The Show further than ever before, with a suite of new colleges and a focus on the mid-to-late career.

Franchise

Continue evolving the front office experience by building deeper, more immersive, and challenging systems shaped by community feedback.

Storylines The Negro Leagues Season 4

Celebrate the rich history of baseball with the continuation of Storylines: The Negro Leagues, the award-winning mode that invites fans to take the field and play in the moments that shaped the careers of some of the sport's most talented, yet often overlooked legends.

This is just the start — stay tuned for more as we head into 2026. Want to stay in the loop and help us improve? Sign up for MLB The Show's The Scouting Report for exclusive surveys to share your feedback, get updates, and more.

I wonder if this one is coming to Switch 2 and PC. Actually, I wonder more if it's still coming to Switch 1, given that the last entry did while also skipping PS4 and Xbox One.

For Switch 2 is almost 100% guaranteed… Is an MLB decision not Sony.

Put Yamamoto on the cover, you cowards!!

Put me down for a Switch 2 copy as well. The vast majority of MLB The Show 25 that I played was on my Portal. I'd rather play native portable.

I don't know if specific platforms are forced rather than just making them support Nintendo as a whole. It could still come to Switch 1 and not Switch 2, even if it seems unlikely.

Wow. Still no focus on next gen graphics. Laziest developer out there. Their sixth game this Gen. Fucking shameful.

Even EA and take2 added next gen features in year 1 and year 2. Professional baseball spirits came out last year and looks phenomenal. I'm not going to blame Sony for this when konami, ea and other greedy money hungry publishers have devs who have managed to give their games next gen features. This is on The devs. Garbage.

These developers are everything that's wrong with modern developers. They sit all day at home jerking off to god knows what instead of working. Sixth game this Gen. SIXTH. Replace them all with AI.

Genuinely surprised it hasn't been announced yet. Something like this you'd think they'd want to cast as wide a net as possible.

It probably had to do with MLB not forcing them to support PC and Sony not having publishing rights for anything other than PlayStation platforms. Their contracts are very likely to be for 5 years, so the next one could be different from the 21-25 one.

I think that MLB forced Sony to launch the games on othets consoles, not PC. But is weird that Sony with the new strategy is not launching the game on PC yet.

No mention of graphical improvements, much less improvements to the graphics engine... The same goes for all sports games that only think about ways to squeeze every last penny out of users at the lowest possible cost.

Very sad.

Probably has more to do with finding solutions for PC modding and their Diamond Dynasty.

They are not a very large team compared to EA and are on only on 9.5-10 month development cycles as well.

This series used to push the bar and be one of the best, too.

As a diehard baseball fan, it's very disappointing.

As much as I have Dodgers fatigue, that wouldn't bother me. I also wouldn't object to Freddie Freeman or Mookie Betts. Both of them have storied careers beyond the current Dodgers that warrant being a cover athlete.

I mean, I guess they had careers before the Dodgers, lol.

On a more serious note, did they say if there is going to be a PC release? Or is this still console only?
Probably console only.

I'd do a lot of bad things for a PC version but they need to push the graphics on this, the game looks quite pedestrian and some of the player models look woeful. Graphically its way behind madden, FC, 2k etc.

Anyways, let's go Blue Jays! Pumped for next season. Only 100+ days away from spring training :messenger_tears_of_joy:

San Diego Studio is Sony's Game Freak.

Unfortunately San Diego stopped in time, they did huge steps on the PS3 era.... But PS4/5 era is so lacking.....

Also gameplay wise they did baby steps the last years....
They peaked with 20, but still after all those years MVP 2005 is so, so , so good...damn what a game.

Also not even mention Pro Yakyu Spirits, that franchise is freaking miles away of anything else that come out, they are in another level......

That's the announcement ? MLB the show is winning because there isn't any competition, who buys these games yearly?

Even though the graphics have stayed pretty much the same for like six years, The Show is the only sports game that doesn't feel like they're trying to rape you for all your cash to enjoy their game modes.

I love the Dodgers and wouldn't be against any of them, but the last few years they've gone smaller market. My guess would be the Big Dumper himself, Cal Raleigh.
