Mob Psycho 100 (Main Manga from Onepunch Man writer) gets TV Anime

Shogakukan's web comic magazine Ura Sunday announced on Wednesday that a television anime adaptation of ONE's Mob Psycho 100 manga has been green-lit. The anime will air next year, and the studio BONES (Fullmetal Alchemist, Eureka Seven, Blood Blockade Battlefront) is producing.

The story revolves around "Mob," a boy who will explode if his emotional capacity reaches 100%. This boy with psychic powers earned his nickname "Mob" because he does not stand out among other people. He keeps his psychic powers bottled up so he can live normally, but if his emotional level reaches 100, something will overwhelm his entire body.

The premise slightly reminds me of Punch Line (the anime that 999/VLR's Uchikoshi wrote), though without the absurdity of underwear.

Hmmm...yeah. I don't think this artstyle work as anime nowadays unless it's adapted from a gag manga.
 
I'm thrilled, but I imagine they won't keep the artstyle. Which is sad, because it grows on you while you read the manga.

Right now I can't even imagine how Reigen would look outside of ONE's derpy drawings.

God that would be awful. I mean Ping Pong was good but Flower of Evil was terrible. There's a fine edge to using that sort of roughness as a stylistic expression but trying to pass off bad art as stylistic expression is not going to have the desired effect. Fans forgetting the fact that they loved the work in spite of the art is not going to do it favors when they want to carry it forward. The fine treatment the redraw of One-punch got was transformative to the work in making it reach so many. Trying to make Mob Psycho stand on its own is simply delusional.

Agreed with this series being better than OPM. Also yeah keep the art, makes the comedy much funnier. Don't go Murata on it.
 
Omg yes please. I actually like Mob Psycho 100 even more than One Punch Man!!
Reigen is the best character, I hope he gets a good voice actor
 
Excellent news! Hope they don't change the artstyle though, but if they do, here's hoping it'll be OPM-level.
 
With the manga finishing up at around ~100 chapters, how many episodes are we looking at?

EDIT: I actually like ONE's art style, but I could see them changing it
