It's sitting at 87 on Metacritic. Can't blame people for buying it, it's the highest rated GT since GT4 in 2005.
The biggest problem here is that there's an enjoyable game here. But always online, the mtx push, and bad AI with rolling start events is holding it back.
Exactly! Nobody 'needs'. Has absolutely no impact on me when I play SoT. I do not feel compelled to buy anything because I do not feel like I'm missing out or disadvantaged in any way.
But it's the same with the cars here it's just a collectathon just like SoT.

I'm beginning to think that critic reviews are mostly bogus. They all get free codes. And if they give the game a bad score, they will likely quit getting codes from that publisher. Its all so shady.

I've played it after launch but not after the patch. Isn't it more important that critics play the patched game if it has already changed two times since they played it?
Stevivor didn't get a review code from Sony. It's even mentioned in his review.
Unless you talk about receiving patches, playing multiplayer or using subscription services then most games don't have an online requirement, you might miss out on cloud saves though.
People keep saying this but it's like bro the game has like nine cars I actually want. The P1 is coincidentally one of them, but that's the only car I "need" that isn't priced pretty normal.
thats the thing, the areas that were patched have nothing to do with the game's progression. in fact, you only unlock the ranch race at the end of the book menu, i think 37 or so, and its a separate tournament.
A lot of modern racing sims don't even require you to unlock stuff. You can buy the most complete edition of assetto corsa for 40$ (and for less than 10$ during sales) and get immediate access to all of its 178 cars + a vast sea of modded cars.

No im talking about buying a digital game which means it has DRM so Steam/Xbox/Playstation/Switch digital games all have DRM unless you buy games from GOG but even then some games on there still have DRM so basically all digital and now even some singleplayer only game on a disc has DRM to we cannot escape from DRM to be honest
It's not comparable at all, you can play digital purchases offline, in Steam you just switch to offline mode, not sure what you have to do on Xbox/PS/Switch, I can check tonight.
MVG is talking about another form of DRM protection where you cannot play offline but im talking bout the definition of a DRM
