So i'm giving another chance to skyrim (on pc this time, last time was on base console), i bought the anniversary edition from steam and i wanted to install some mods but the mods that you can install from inside the game are very few and crappy (not even basic stuff like remove weight limit) so i need to use nexusmod to have more choice, do you have some unmissable one?

I'm pretty noob with mods, i have the nexusmod app and i usually use that to install the mods, so please don't start with complicated stuff to install, multy-layered shit or stuff that is not certified and break the game, also nothing super heavy like fake rtx etc., i have a 2070 super\8600k and i kinda want to play this old ass game at 4k60 if possible, 1800p60 at worse.

Maybe something that improve gore, ragdoll, something to make the combat more punchy\weighty and less slidey, some QoL and maybe some texture pack that is not gonna tank my performances too much.

The game doens't recognize my gpu on first boot but i guess that if i'm sustaining 4k60 with almost all at max details for now it means that the message was bullshit right? (good start )

The fun part is spending hours browsing through the nexus page and installing all the different visual and gameplay mods just for you to play two hours of Skyrim and already getting bored with the core gameplay.

It helps if you play completely new content though. If something like Enderal Forgotten Stories is a step too far and you really want Skyrim at least install New Beginnings so you can totally change the games introduction sequence.

I've spent hours on the nexus trying mods and selecting the right ones, best reference point i use to use is Gopher the mod man, either his mod reviews, tutorials or using the mods he uses, his videos helped me the most over the years.

Yeah i ended up installing only the remove weight limit and the improved ragdoll one, all the gore ones require some complicated shit to do and the texture pack are probably all too heavy to sustain 4k60 with my system.

Now my only question is, after i downloaded all the free objects from the creation club, do i find this stuff around the world during exploration or is it like in some locker room waiting for me? Hopefully the first one...

Thanks very much for this, and thanks to OP for the thread. The wife and I have been talking about starting a new Skyrim game for a while now and I decided recently to just go ahead and do it, but we've been tormenting over which mods to utilize, this will be a big help.

Is there a consensus of some sort on what the best leveled zone mods are for improving the game design? I want kind of a Witcher 3 or Yakuza Like a Dragon type thing where some zones are simply more dangerous than others and enemies don't level scale. Gives leveling up and getting stronger a real purpose ya know? Thanks again.

Just yesterday I installed Skyrim SE (again) and followed ESOs tutorials. I only did the micro pack as 4k everything would annihilate my computer. But it still looks fantastic.

This I am unsure of. I mostly used mods for inventory management and textures. Nexus Mods does allow sorting by Unique Downloads or Endorsements though. I used that searching for Zone, and this was the most popular thing I saw that sounds like what you're looking for:

Leveled list and Encounter Zone Overhaul focused on decentralizing the player from the world.

This mod is a complete loot and Encounter Zone overhaul. This will make the game's economy and enemy levels more difficult and static. The idea is that if you go into a dungeon, nothing in it is dependent on you. The levels of the enemy will not scale with you. The potential loot is independent of your level but completely dependent on the enemy levels. So if you are in a dungeon with tough creatures, the loot you could gain at the end will be worth it.

Check out a mod author called Enai Siaion, his overhaul mods change up the entire game. His Ordinator perk mod make every single skill a viable way of playing the game, even lockpicking as a way to hack into Dwemer automatons to turn a Centurion into a companion.

Fucking everything need that skyrim ui thing or something called skse to work but i want to keep the game as clean as possible, it is already a bugfest ready to crash at any given moment even without heavy modding and i'm ok with the current ui, i don't need an enhanced one and whatever that skse is...

SKSE is a staple for most mods because it is expanded the scripting capabilities which gives additional functionality to the game. It is extremely easy to install, and it greatly expands the scripting options in the game.

You need to go to their website and download the Current Anniversary Edition build 2.1.5 which is a 7zip file. The website is here:

Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE)

Then you open that file and open your Skyrim Special Edition folder in File Explorer:

The left side is the file you download from the SKSE website. The right is the game folder in File Explorer. Then drag the selected contents in the above screenshot from the left side to the right side, replacing the existing contents. You can drag everything in the left folder over to you Skyrim folder, but the src folder in the SKSE zip just contains the unused source files, and you don't need the text files for anything. Dragging those would just be a waste of space.

That's it. You've installed SKSE.

If you don't want to install SKSE then you will just have to pick and choose mods that don't require it, but a ton of mods require it and I have always used it. Part of the mod pack that I listed includes mods that actually fix a ton of bugs that vanilla Skyrim has.

I completely understand. I still think it's worth installing the slightly more complex SKSE, but even in the list I showed you there are mods for Bug Fixes that don't require SKSE. At a minimum I would get those mods. Skyrim is an exterminator's wet dream of you understand my meaning. Any ability you have to (easily) decrease the amount of bugs should be jumped on.

SKSE is priority number one with any modded Skyrim build. Huge toast to those boys who develop it. It is basically a manditory mod and they do it gratis.
