i'm a big monster hunter fan, but i've come to the realisation that i don't want to plough another 200+ hours back into a game i've already played to death.

200+ hours? Since I have yet to play it, it's a big plus for me. I think I'll purchase MHP for the PSP and the PS2 sequel later.

You will ;).

Besides that, if Mrs. Charlie gets PSP Monster Hunter going... you are dooooomed as well :D.

:P.

Now that MH PSP is officially announced for US release this means that MH2 will definitely be released as well.

The graphics for MH Freedom are phenominal and shows just how close the PSP is to the PS2.

I think the people who made this and GTALCS got the "special" PSP dev kits

Lol, so you think that most dev kits have this special -OSlowCode optimization option for GCC set by default ;) ?

WHATTT ? You insulted Sony/SCE ? You get the VFPU disabled!!!!!

"Cautiously hopeful they really can optimize this for single player play."

the controls will be the difficult thing - Mrs C played it at TGS, i watched. It looks absolutely amazing, but she wasn't feeling the controls for the gunner. The PS2 controls are odd (using the two sticks) , but once you get used to them, it feels natural.

As you say, they need to change how the PSP version plays to make it work as a single player game. Might sound odd- but perhaps they need to make the big bosses easier to take down? some of those fights would go right up to the 30-40 minute limits - in a handheld, that might have some issues (?) . Anyways, the online mode is what made the PS2 version so good. In single player, it was just a long grind. With a lot more variety, it could work. Wireless will be fun of course.

Pana : Yeah, i'm sure me and Mrs C could club through the game again, but i dunno. I guess i could play as the dual short sword wielder, but i enjoyed playing with the heavy sword. We shall see. She made me buy Dobutsu no Mori DS yesterday... ARGGHHH , game is like fecking work....

Monster Hunter for PS2 did not cater well for gunners playing through single player :-(
I hope this changes.
