Is there any news regarding a US release for this game at all? I figured it would have been announced by now... Was it mentioned at the Capcom Las Vegas Press Event? And has anyone toyed around with the import (DCharlie perhaps)? I need answers! :)

let me know.

yeah, if we could get a decent group of people together, i'd play too. seems like PSO-style goodness.

Thanks for making things clear now. And to think I was looking in some Famitsu PS Magazine trying to analyze the screenshots :lol Guess it pays to read some Japanese first

And yes, if guys here are willing to play and get a group together, I'm all for it. I just restarted the game with a new character because a friend of mine just recently picked up the game, so I wouldn't mind making a good run at it. I know there are some guilds running around, so I know there is a little community for the game at least. Hit me up if anyone is interested

Question: is this like PSO, where each copy is locked to the first system that its played on, or can i pick up a used copy?

I'd play it again, but it's not very much like PSO outside of the basic elements of a co-op RPG. It's really a hunting/gathering game focused on difficult, teamwork intensive boss fights and item synthesis. It's progression is based entirely on quests with a ranking system too.

I stopped at HR14 awhile back, but I wouldn't mind making a new character. The only thing you have to keep in mind when playing MH at first is to keep an open mind, because it will feel clunky and awkward at first. Once it clicks that all goes away and everything feels great.

I like it a lot more than PSO, or even Diablo 2 really, mostly because of how challenging and rewarding it can be.

I should have it by wednesday or thursday of next week. I'll blow through some of the earlier missions just to get the hang of it, then i'll revive this topic and see if anyone wants to play.

This game made me start playing PSO again. Felt like a bad headache had lifted when I no longer had to deal with MH's godawful positioning and camera in battle. I really wanted to like it :/

It's not like PSO didn't have the worst targeting system known to man.

I might b up for it if you guys are playing. The only thing bad about mh is Its hard to organize a group with a common goal in mind. Everyone's got theyre own agenda

A friend and I had been thinking about this as well, since we were both heavily into PSO. I'll see if my Kmart's got any copies left.

When you are familiar with it it becomes second nature and really, really good. Something like OoT becomes horrible in comparison. To each his own, I guess. Not something I'm interested in discussing. My point was about positioning and camera in MH.

Seeing that Monster Hunter G is basically just a tweaked out version of the US Monster Hunter (there are a few differences though from what I picked up from Message Boards about G...mainly a few new monsters and weapons to select from). What are the chances that Capcom will be tweaking and adding some more content to a 2nd iteration of Monster Hunter for the US?

You know they will be working on new content for Japan with the popularity of the game there, so I'm just curious if the cycle will repeat itself one more time. Guess we'll see by E3 if this is the case or not (I'll definitely query at the Capcom booth the first day to satisfy my curiousity)

BTW I found this Korean blog with some interesting weapon pics for Monster Hunter G here The first 5 pages are screenshots of the game in action, then on Page 7 and on, there are screenshots of some of the new weapons (some of them didn't look familar with me at least from the US Monster Hunter)

Gah, i lost the auction.

I'll pick it up from Amazon with my gift certificates, but it'll be next week before i get it. Boo.

This one is my favorite....Looks uber!

The camera system in MH is never truly great, simply due to the nature of the game and the fact that it can't have a lock on system. But after it clicks you'll rarely have any big problems with it, at least that's how it was for me. It will be the first thing you struggle with however. Especially if you pick a large melee weapon type.

It really can't be stressed enough that you're going to need to give MH time to click at the start, heh. I was pretty dissapointed for the first hour or two I think until all the pieces come together and you get the hang of things.

PSO's camera I was fine with too, there's not a lot of tension or threat in PSO so taking a few blind blows was never a big deal. I hope the lock on is souped up in PSU though into it's own thing.

What PSO really needed was a faster way to cycle through targets. With rangers, i was always shooting boxes while my teammates were getting torn to pieces.

Has anyone progressed in the game enough to play online? I just started a new character about 2 weeks ago and have been playing offline (just to get through the Level 1 & 2 Quests) but I'm interested in getting some parties together for hunting and item gathering (because what would this game be like without it)

Just hit me up on PM and we'll see what we can come up with :)
