I’m so excited to hunt Nerscylla again, it feels like it’s been forever since I last time we got to hunt Nerscylla.

So far I absolutely LOVING the monster selections, we have waaaaaaay more variety body type compare to World and Iceborne.

Looking forward to the octopus. That'll be a really unique fight.
Me too, I watch lot of animal documentaries and I love watching about octopus, they have such interesting bodies.

Capcom absolutely nailed the animation, its fantastic!

It's really great to see them experimenting with new skeletons after all these years. Not that an octopus has an actual skeleton....but yeah.

Yup it’s been good while since we go entirely new classification of monster….maybe in future games or even in the expansion we get more cephalopod type monsters.

I’m surprised as i usually play Lance and GS, but I’m leaning towards SnS in this game lol, just something about ally the little details in the animations, the clashes, the mounts, it feels nice to play, ect.

Still very disappointed with Lance, I know they say it will change in the final release, but unless there’s a major overhaul I fear the weapon is ruined for me. Which sucks.

For me nothing beat LS, especially for solo player like me its best weapon to play.

They ruined/nerfed Dual Blades by locking Demon Flight behind Focus Weak Points. So that sucks. Gunlance without Blast Dash is just no bueno. Mind you Gunlance is probably the most fun. It's really looking like a GL and HBG kind of game.

Switch Axe and Charge Blade just feels wrong. I'm a Squall ZSD Leonhart guy. Renzokukening the monster is my jam and it just doesn't feel as good anymore?

Nothing beats Long Sword because it's just busted.

What I liked about Sunrise and you could switch(ha) the switch skills to massively change how you played your weapon which had little to do with wirebugs at all. Example for DB being Demon Flight versus Demon Flurry Rush.

From what we've seen thus far in Wilds you are restricted to a single style of play and are heavily leaning into focus mode system.

I agree with basically everything here.

Also they ruined IG too lol, but supposedly it will be “fixed” in the real game.
What drives me crazy is that IG was the only weapon that focused on aerial attacks, and they basically took that away so we just have yet another grounded weapon.

But ya, LS is super fun even if people hate on it. It’s a super satisfying weapon to use.

You see...they really could have let us play with the weapon changes in this 2nd and 3rd run of the beta. If the beta is about feedback then they should of let the players give more feedback if they needed to finetune stuff.

Glaive in the beta has problems and it isn't just about being grounded but also issues with popping wounds for buffs and in team play that'll be awful since to get the buff you have to pop it.

Not to mention the top DPS is spamming Spiral Slash over and over and over.

Which I think a fine point on Focus mode is going into settings and making focus mode iinto a toggle instead of holding the button is going to be mandatory because a lot of weapons just want you to run focus mode.

i’ve played almost 40 hours of the beta. i’m going to easily put 1k hours into the full game and the inevitable expansion. my game of the gen by far. time to quit and wait the long 12 days for launch
i had to work every day of both beta weekends... so i only have 37 hrs. lol game of forever.

I played a bit of each of the hunts in the beta, but I don't wanna get too burnt out prior to release. It's not like anything will be carried over beside the character design and bonus rewards. There will be plenty of grinding to do in a couple weeks.

I tried this again on PC, but unless there are big improvements in the final version regarding image quality and performance im going with the PS5 Pro version. I tried it at 1440p DLSS quality high settings and it looks terrible. Muddy image quality, all over the place performance, terrible textures. Also this has the longest shader compilation shit i've ever seen.

Well then you'll be pleased to see that it looks like this youtuber is going to be doing documentary style videos featuring the various fauna of Wilds. English subtitles are available.

It's incredible to see the sheer amount of detail the that's always going on. I can't wait to see more videos like this. I never would have expected a full biological life cycle simulation to be happening in the background while I'm getting my face caved in by monsters.

is that good? I'm thinking in buying it. i'm a noob en MH do you recommend for a first time player or i try an older game? Just for reference, do you liked DD2?

That 40 fps mode on the Pro might be pretty decent, since Wilds has a 120 fps mode... which is essentially just an unlocked framerate (wish all console devs would do this as well, to future proof these games somewhat). Anyway that 40fps mode is probably a good mix of balanced settings and with the framerate actually unlocked, maybe VRR can make it a viable option. I've been playing the beta on fidelity with an unlocked framerate... it kinda runs like shit tbh but sometimes the frames are passable, and it doesn't look putrid.

Guess we'll see soon enough. It's pretty dumb to call it 120 mode... but glad it's there tbh. Has made the graphics mode somewhat playable.

Never played any Dragons Dogma games. I played MH freedom unite years ago, thought it was kinda cool. Then i picked up MH World and really got me hooked. I like great combat in games and really good blocking and counter systems. My top games are stuff like Sekiro and Bloodborne as well now as Monster Hunter. If you like deep combat systems that are somewhat easy to pick up but pretty hard to master, this game has it in droves. Plus 14 weapons... thats alot of depth. Picking up each weapon makes you learn an entire new "class" so to speak.

Is the beta over again? I didn’t know it was this weekend.
Ends tonight at 7pm PST / 10pm EST

I LOVE this stuff soooooooo much! This makes even more excited for Wilds.

i feel like greatsword damage is pretty shit compared to other weapons that hit just as hard or harder without requiring so much commitment as GS attacks. not feeling it this time.

idk man Greatsword is pretty overloaded. It can do slashing damage and KO damage, it can perfect block, offset counter, and hyperarmor through attacks, and charged slashes can now be freely aimed in focus mode.

They've also already said they're increasing the damage on True Charged Slash.

It's a fantastic time to become a GS main.

i'm pretty awful with the weapon so i wouldn't argue, but i wasn't commenting so much on the whole kit as I was just disappointed in the damage numbers after landing fully charged attacks. seemed a bit anticlimactic is all. especially compared to dps of other weapons that don't require the commitment to attacks.

will try again in the final game, see how it feels. focus mode definitely a game changer though lol.

after defeating Arkveld on base PS5 i can say one thing, this game is a fucking disgrace on console atm

Resolution mode ? too unstable, framerate drops everywhere during the fight

Performance mode ? i can barely see what is happening on this 360p image with lots of blur and effects on an unstable ??fps

i dont know who at Capcom had this great ideia to run second beta on this old build, why not use the current one ?

The beta ended right after I killed the first monster. Had to wait til my toddler was asleep. I was getting around 120fps on my 4090. Didn’t spend time tweaking settings.

Seems like it will be a good game, but I really don't get why it's so unoptimized.
It looks like a last gen game yet still can't manage to perform well on current hardware.
Is RE Engine really just that badly suited to open worlds, or what?

If you like animal ecosystems, rdr2 had the whole animal ecosystem in the background in 2018, far cry primal even before that.
Rainworld if you want something extremely complex and dynamic in a way that traditional AAA videogame can only dream of.

It’s not same especially the fact creatures MH games have very creative creature designs while they still put lot of effort to make them believable.

And more importantly MH games are actually fun to play I can’t say the same about games like RDR2.

Ok and that's your opinion, million of people love rdr2 and the dude i quoted was surprised to have an animal ecosystem so i told him to check other games with good animal ecosystem (in the case of rain world, the best ecosystem by far) so he can check them.

It's ok to enjoy other games with an animal ecosystem dude, even if you don't personally like them, i'm a sucker for this shit so i'm all ears if people know other games with complex animal ecosystems.

can't say much, can't enjoy a game that produces abomination textures on a 8 GB card at 1080p/dlss quality. I hope it gets fixed at launch. or no buy from me

the reason I'm more angry than I should be is because settings preview gaslights you into thinking high textures are fine
