I think this is probably the highest priced single Super Soaker auction I've ever seen. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5983703977

Super Soaker CPS 2000, final bid: $370.00 + $16 Shipping
cps2000.jpg

This was the very first CPS cannon that Larami made. It was something of a test gun released late in 1996. It tops out at almost 35 inches in length and 12 pounds. Total capacity is 133 ounces with an output of 28 ounces/second over 50 feet at a 45 degree angle. Two primary variants were made. The pressure gauge extending to the length of the pump handle indicates this is what Super Soaker collectors refer to as the "Mark 1" version.

The blaster turned out to be a little bit too powerful so it was redesigned into a new model the following year with about 25% less power.

Ha I have one of those, if I shoot you in the face from a few feet away, you can NOT close your eyes to protect yourself... it forces your lids open...

But it doesn't shoot very long... Lots of pumping, too little shooting.

What's the point of 28 ounces a second? It'd be empty in about 4.5 seconds...

It shoots like a high pressure water hose, for a about a second... You only get maybe 4 full shots before the tank is empty. That'd be about 100 pumps. But each shot is very powerful.

It doesn't shoot like a normal SS. You pump up the shot, and it all goes at once. Your shot is about a second long. Then you must pump up for another shot.

With a normal SS you pump up and the gun shoots for a long time, getting weaker the whole time. ...

Yeah, it's not like other Super Soakers. It's like taking a 32 ounce Big Gulp from 7-11 and slamming it into someone as hard as you possibly can. There's a whole spectrum of capabilies in the collection. This is the opposite of the Super Soaker that can hold a constant beam for a full minute without any pumping.

I had the one with the 180 degree swivel nozzle. Every time I showed it to someone who didn't know what it could do, I'd have them stand next to the gun, then I'd point the gun straight but turn the nozzle towards them! BOY WERE THEY IN FOR A SURPRISE!

But then the freaking nozzle broke and it just dribbled out

Seriously though, does anyone remember those cheap backpack knockoffs they used to sell back in the day? They used to hold a shitload of water, the tank was yellow, and it had a really cool looking, long, flamethrower like handle? I remember we used to have so much fun with those I never even really used my old rifle-like models, they sprayed great, but since they were kinda cheap, after about 15 minutes they start leaking from the back and you'd have a ton of water dripping down the crack of your ass, good times. :lol

Oh, and remember the Super Soaker bleach scandal?

A friend of mine used to have one of them. Powerful sonofabitch, too (well, when I was 8). Never thought they'd be going for this sort of money as a collector's item.

My father deals with a lot of wholesale stuff. I used to get all the Super Soakers for free before the new ones came out on the market. Except they wouldn't be packaged and didn't have the sticker labels done yet.

I used to have it (pretty sure it was the mkI). Monstrous water gun, could knock lighter people down. Gave it away to a kid a few years ago.

Wet t-shirt contests?
Looks to me like something funny
Is going on around here
People laughin' 'n dancin' 'n payin'
Entirely too much for their beer
And they all think they are
Clean outa-site
And they're ready to party
'Cause the sign outside says it's
WET T-SHIRT NITE
'N they all crave some
Hot delight
Well the girls are excited
Because in a minute
They're gonna get wet
'N the boys are delighted
Because all the titties
Will get 'em upset
'N they all think they're
Reety-awright
'N they're ready to boogie
'Cause the sign outside says it's
WET T-SHIRT NITE
'N they all crave some
Pink delight
When the water gets on 'em
Their ninnies get rigid
'N look pretty bold
It's a common reaction
That makes an attraction
Whenever it's cold
'N all of the fellas
They wish they could bite
On the cute little nuggets
The local girls are showin' off tonite
You know I think it serves 'em right
You know I think it serves 'em right
You know I think it serves 'em right
You know I think it serves 'em right
And it's
WET T-SHIRT TIME AGAIN
I know you want someone to show you some tit!

But... why? Does it hurt? Is it like a paintball gun then?

I remember that thing from when I stocked toys at Wal-Mart. Had I known it would go for that much, I would've stocked up.

Are Super Soakers still in circulation? I haven't been to a toy store in ages, but I wonder what the new ones are like (if they still make them).

Wait...so is this thing rare or something? Because I have one and my brother has one.

Should I be selling this on eBay or something?

Well it could hurt if you got someone in the face... But it's more along the lines of all you need is one shot to completely soak someone... If you get hit, you are drenched.

If you guys need me to, I can make a vid of it shooting.

For those who care (I can't believe there are so many..LOL) This is the original CPS at work..

Mine is kinda of old so the seals are drying out... but I think you get the idea..

This is a full shot, you can see the meter on the side going from full to empty.. You get about 4 of these per tank... It will shoot about 40 feet.

That was oddly extremely cool. Looked like a parody of a military weapon demo video. "The terrorists have threatened to destroy the world's cleaning supplies" and all that.

I was going to shoot the bottle and cans, but then I thought to show the power of the soaker, I'd just knock over the table... It was misleading, but I did hit was I was aiming for...LOL

:)

I have another shot for distance if you guys want it.

I saw a commercial for what I thought was a good idea for a super soaker. It was pretty much a normal super soaker, but you can release some nozzle and it empties the whole damn tank in one big burst.

That's an excellent video. By the length of the pressure gauge, it actually looks like that's the mark 2 version, which some people would say is "weaker." I've never noticed much difference. They're both beasts.

I have that exact model in my basement right now (but my tank is red, not purple).

The red tank one is the CPS 2500, not the 2000. It has a 25% smaller pressure chamber, but it did get selectable nozzles on the front so you could tighten the stream (make it sting a little more/shoot a little further).

Yeah, they make about a dozen new Soakers and rerelease about a dozen random old ones each year. http://www.hasbro.com/supersoaker/

That's the Super Soaker Flash Flood, new for 2005.

Mine has the purple tank and the non adjustable nozzle. It looks exactly like the ebay auction. (hmmm wait a sec, the gauge is longer on ebay... ohh well) Wouldn't that only effect the duration of the shot? It is the constant pressure system..

I took the stickers off mine when I bought it but here it is...

What I like most about Super Soakers

Too bad the things were kinda pricey...I had a big shotgun type when I was a kid (the 100 model, I believe) but I had to get it from one of those overstock stores, where it ran for about ten bucks, then after I played it until the seals broke, I stuck to knock offs because they were half the price.

Oh yeah, did anyone have one of those non-Laramie battery operated squirt guns that came out around the same time? Those were awesome (until you lost the clips)

soaker2fixed.gif

that was my favorite out of all of em. I use to use that one at my friends house.. I had it hooked up straight to a water hose.... for unlimited ammo... that thing was the best... I miss it.

Yeah, I've never noticed a difference in actual power between the versions.

I'd probably just use the hose in that situation. They had a version of that Soaker with two front nozzles.. and they also had just a giant large piston you could put in a bucket that was supplied by a hose.
