I know the fanboys have made many posts just to TRY junk the console, but to be honest I'm sure some are real. What do you think?
 
You're most probably right. Heck, If I werent such a Halo fanboy I'd probably be dissing the 360 by posting fake breakages.
 
I think that there are too many of these threads.

I also think that, considering several hundred THOUSAND people all bought a 360 at basically the same time, the amount of reported defects (even if they're fake or whatever) seems to be pretty low. It's really just paranoia, which is understandable when we're dealing with a $300-400 investment.
 
Nay! Rushed launch, forcing manufactures to pump X million units by the end of 2005, of course its going to lead to problems! Microsoft themselves admitted that it's a heat dispersion problem.

The fanboys so far have been quite. According to them the X360 games don't look next gen etc.
 
NO I WASN'T lying. Madden really did kill my xbox. It made it not read cds. Good thing I patiently waited for it to revive itself. Madden is never going in there again.

Even if they're not making it up themselves, there's definitely people exaggerating. Personally, I'd just exchange it for a new one.

Look at this forum as an example. Gotta be at least 200 of us with 360's, and how many posts about it dying? I remember one (TomStrong).
 
Personally I think they are real.

The console was rushed in many ways, meaning that it's likely there are still a few issues to iron out.

Plus, 500,000 sold in ONE DAY. You'll expect to hear a lot of problems at once. Usually that amount is sold over months, and hearing the same problems over a span of a few months makes it less obvious that there is an issue.
 
I don't think the majority are fake since they report the same symptoms and all new consoles have some issues with one thing or the other. Its true of any new product roll out, first gen cars always have more problems then the later revisions of the design. It sucks to get a lemon out of the bunch but I'm sure MS will stand behind their consoles and fix the problems as soon as they can. Early adopters always fulfill a role as last line beta testers, its their lot in life.

I've been taking support calls all week, so there's no doubt some issues cropping up. But are they as drastically widespread as some bloggers & forums would have you believe? Not in the least.

That never really passed for me. I still have 8 of them staring me in the fucking face every time I play. (which isn't often, har har!)
 
I'm sorry I just can't believe people with Sony sigs and Nintendo avatars claiming they had a bad 360 experience :)

I think most gamers are alright, but some take it too seriously.

I haven't been here much in the last week (360 gaming w00t!), but if I recall... TomStrong, EGM92(?), "friends" and iceDragon's... but his returned from the grave. :lol

It's to be expected that there would be some malfunctions by either the user (heat + carpet = duh people?!) or the manufacturer (defects), but the vast amount seem fine. Mine included.

The scare passed. If you were on message boards at the PSP launch it was all anyone was talking about. Now its not an issue.

You should have taken yours back for a replacement.

Pick up GTA and they will be pissing you off again daily. Seriously though I'm sure sony would fix an 8 dead pixel PSP.

What about all those with N fans who were bitching and complaining about the PSP? Fact is, Sony acknowledged the problem and tried to fix it. With X360, MS has also acknowledged the problem.

I really donÂ’t see how fanboys are behind this; few days prior to the launch someone posted pictures of CoD and Kameo suffering from heavy artifacting running on an X360 demo unit. The system defiantly has some heat issues.

sony will most definitely fix a psp with 8 dead pixels. i called them about four dead pixels and what appears to be a small piece of dust under my screen. they said just to ship it in and they will be glad to fix it. they also told me i have up to a year to do so. of course, i haven't gotten around to doing it yet, but i will...

I can post pictures of the error screen I get when I try to boot with my defective hard drive if you like :p
 
Nay, seems bad. I just hope to god if my system breaks they can magically get me a new system within a day. Having to wait until mid-Jan like the horror stories is really frightening so I keep checking the system's temp all the time.

I have reformed from getting banned, haven't had problem since. I was just having a laugh, which I think most people understood.


Argyle,, you don't need to prove anything, it's stupid to think this thread is inclusive of you if you have a real problem.

I expressed a similar thing toward PS2. Yes, I'm sure there are issues. And they're severe enough to be worth a mention. But they're greatly exaggerated, as anything. Some people made it sound like you need to win a lottery to get a PS2 that works for more than a year, but it's shit.

Same for 360.

:lol I never use my warranties until the eleventh hour. I've got a warranty backlog going right now. Damn my procrastination.
 
Speaking of Madden...I was in EB today and they had Madden in the kiosk and jesus it looks like ass! Major stuttering at every screen dissolve and inconsistent frame rate...WTF? If EA were a person, he'd be the rich son that lives off the accomplishment of those that preceded him and with no competition around anymore (thanks NFL), I see no future of real improvement.

Yeah, as kind of an OT it's too bad about the whole NFL license thing. Imagine if we had gotten a 60fps great looking NFL2k at launch :(
 
It's not all lies, my 360 came home the night before last with blood stains on its chrome. When I asked where it had been it just brushed me off and asked if I wanted to play geometry wars or listen to some music. Frankly I fear for my life.

the console ISN'T rushed. Any defects to the system will have been caused by logistics (ie in transport)

All consoles are tested internally for 5 hours and then has human testing for 5 minutes.

So basically if there's any on the spot problems, most of the time it isn't a mistake in manufacturing

unless we're really really lucky...

My X360 is seriously broken, why? how the fuck should I know, it seems that whenever someone looks at my avatar and sees the PSP people start saying "OMGZ HE'S A FANBOY!!!10100110! SONY TROLLZ!!!". Well no I'm not a fanboy, I buy whichever console has games I want to play ie: X360=N3, GoW, PD0 PS3=MGS4, FFXIII, etc Rev= Yet to be announced. I have 4 friends who's core packs had the same problems, luckily they purchased a warrenty from BB and they got it exchanged, one of them has his PSU hanging from the side of his desk cause in any other position he's getting 3 LEDs + text on screen (I don't even get stupid text!)

When you call into a tech support and KRISTY! the tech support says "oh not this again, have you tried to remove your harddrive?" after telling her your X360 is showing you 3 Red LEDs it's never a good sign. After she gave me my service number I waiting for the damn box to arrive, well guess what? 3DAYS later still no box (Overnight shipping), turns out stupid Kristy forgot to "CONFIRM" and process the order. So I have to wait until monday because of their stupid FUCKING mistake. Well after speaking with Jennifer she couldn't give me my new service number right away because her computer wasn't accepting any information (wtf?). So 2 hours later her friend calls back and gives me my service number... what a bullshit week this has been.

OT question, are ALL MS xbox techsupport women?!

I'm just really pissed off and been drinking a bit, too many fuck ups in one week. I won the unit, but the money I was going to use to buy it went into games so I spent 560$CAD worth of games (which 3 were stolen from my house on the 21st).
 
no problems with mine yet! then again all i've been doing is playing demo's and messing with the dashboard... and 1 or 2 BC games.

sure, i can feel the heat eminating off it, but it hasnt crashed yet! *knocks on wood*

And, other than the robbery part, I'd say you're pretty lucky. Look, you've got a 360 in the bag anyway (M$ warranty), so no matter what you'll eventually have a 360 up and running. It's more than I and alot of my fellow gamers have atm....
