I just have a stock Yamaha V-Star 950. It does the job for me to have fun.
I couldn’t help it... Rode the bike in 47 degree weather. Snow still on the ground... Worth it! My penis is now a small chunk of ice.
Awesome bike to ride. I had a 'garage metal' finish as well, I loved how it looks until I couldn't stand it anymore. But I love the engine so I swapped it for a MT09 sp after a while. I'm interested to see what they are going to do for the XSR with the updated chassis of the 2021 MT09.
Don’t know why image keeps flipping but here is the bike...
Cool thing about the XSR is you can just take off the tank cover and replace it with a color scheme you like. Personally I like the blacked out with brushed steel look. More than the Blue/White, Red/White, Yellow/Black. I really just need a full exhaust system and im good I think. Acro or Yosh here I come. Gonna be spittin flames this summer boys!!!!Awesome bike to ride. I had a 'garage metal' finish as well, I loved how it looks until I couldn't stand it anymore. yeah I do want that top speed unlocked too.and an ECU flash
Installed some heated grips this winter. Best thing I ever did.

Corbin do break in, had on on an old R6. But I’d depends on if you like how you fit in the seat. Some people like a former seat so they can slip into leans easier. But on a scout I would look for the dark brown leather ones, they look so nice. Two questions for anybody who knows:
Are Corbin seats comfortable? I heard they're hard, but any seats eventually breaks in.
Anyone have experience with a Rekluse clutch? Or Barnett even? I'm convinced the one on the Scout just can't take the power of the engine, or the cable is stretching and causing slippage.
Why ya'll gotta be so fuckin loud? This is what you look like.
Stay out of my territory.

Can't go wrong with Yamahas or Hondas for that matter. The XSR900 gets a lot of praise and it is a very nice looking bike indeed.
I saw a shootout video between the Ducati Monster 1200S, the Indian FTR 1200S and the XSR900 and the yammie held its own quite well, not to mention being a lot easier on the wallet.
Now...
Did y'all see the muthfuckin new 2022 Indian Chief????
COTTTTT DAYUM
I've never wanted a motorcycle but holy hell is that thing gorgeous.
It's so nice. I was looking at a Star Bolt before throwing myself at the Scout, and this is like that but on steroids, not to mention prettier.I've never wanted a motorcycle but holy hell is that thing gorgeous.

Like HellforLeather said, Indian/Polaris has HD beat in terms of looks and performance in the American cruiser.
Now if only I could figure out why/how I'm burning through clutches...
It goes: clutch in, downshift, blip, release
...?
Or is it: clutch, blip, downshift, release?
Lol
Shift, blip, release.
Probably not burning up the clutch on downshifts though. Have you taken it to a shop? Could be bad springs or your cable isnt adjusted properly and the clutch isnt fully releasing when you let go of it.
If you've already had it replaced then I would imagine a shop would check those things but you never know.
Yeah that was exactly the first reaction these guys had. The dealer who I bought it from apparently didn't do a proper PDI and the cable was super tight, so I made sure to check it with a vernier before taking it out last week (last time it had started giving me that strange rattle in the pegs and grips) and it had play within spec, and when it burned out the lever/cable was fully taut.
The shop seems just as curious to find out what's going wrong with it cause they already replaced it, so I assume they're being thorough.
And, yes, that's how I'm shifting. I've been questioning my riding. Such a weird experience. Hopefully no more trouble this season.
Well hopefully they sort it out. Theres really only a few reasons why it should toast the clutch unless they put the plates in wrong or something. Do you rest your fingers on the clutch?
EDIT TO ANSWER YOUR EDIT: Sport bikes and Sport Touring bikes
My bike list is:
'99 Ducati 748
'07 Ducati 1098
Current stable:
'16 Versys 1000
'20 Triumph Street Triple RS
No, never ride the clutch. I do like to ride hard. I'm not banging out shifts but I like to open the throttle here and there.
From what I've read that shouldn't toast a clutch completely in 500kms or so. My friggin Honda learner had slippage in 6th gear and it lasted longer, it's still going lol.
How is Triumph for reliability in your experience? I've been in love with the Speedy, the Scrambler and the Rocket ever since I first saw that scene in Metal Gear Solid 4 with all the bikes, also Mission Impossible 2: Shampoo Commercial.
That new 2021 Speed Triple RS seems absolutely beastly. I'm afraid if I go test ride one I'll either kill myself or walk out with a new loan.
So far so good but I havent had much time to put many miles on the Triumph this year. Literally less than 2k. Its a really fun little bike though, good suspension bits and is plenty quick for the twisties.
Would you recommend using a trail/adv bike to learn proper balance, tire grip and cornering on loose surface before jumping onto superbikes?
I feel like it'd be a more fun learning journey than being all stiff and scared around turns with fast and expensive bike.
I've always felt like I'd outgrow a small street/race bike, whereas a trail bike will never not be fun, personally.
Yes sir. They are brilliant.Oxfords? I never knew I needed heated grips until I installed a pair on my Versys.
Awesome. I'm definitely trying out dirtbiking this summer. It probably wouldnt hurt. I grew up on dirt bikes and Im sure that contributes to my comfort riding street bikes to some degree but they are very different animals that require pretty different mindsets/skills.
Pretty much all bikes now have TC so its a bit more forgiving then when I started riding street but I would still recommend a lower HP sport bike to learn on. More than stats, you want a bike that will forgive your mistakes and not pitch you into a bush or guardrail. I learned on my 748 which was a fantastic bike (I still miss it at times). Not enough power to get you in to too much trouble but handled like a dream and was very forgiving. Fantastic bike to learn some of the nuances of bike handling at speed. (AT THE TRACK!)
My 1098 was the complete opposite. No ABS, No TC, No electronic suspension. That bike did not suffer fools and I ran afoul of it a couple times. It was also a crazy good bike but would not hesitate to try and murder you for not paying attention to what you were doing. When you got it right though......
The most rewarding motorcycle I've ever ridden fast. Chasis feedback was amazing and despite not having TC, you can really explore the limits of traction on that bike with no upsetting surprises (again, ON THE TRACK!)
Cornering on a dirtbike is very different to cornering on a street bike.Awesome. I'm definitely trying out dirtbiking this summer.

I don't think I've ever ridden anything with TC. My old Honda locked the rear tire during a panic downshift entering a highway on ramp and i stiffened up and went wide. Scary shit. A few feet further into the turn and i would have smashed into the guard rail. I decided to nut up and go do it again, and i should've just maintained speed and leaned, trust the grip.
Aaand I'm still waiting to hear from the dealer. I have a feeling Polaris is trying to fight them over the second clutch. That or they found some other awful thing wrong with it.
It's already so nice out
Him and Yami noob are really good.Btw anyone here watches FortNine on YouTube? Some of the best produced motorcycle content out there. In a sea of vlogs and the standard gs adventure porn, his videos are very fresh.

I like the looks of early 2000’s bikes. I had an 06 R6 and loved it so much. Till some bitch turned left on a green infront of me.It's almost freezing today and it snowed earlier but now the sun is out, so I took the oppertunity to drag my bike out of the shed.
Suzuki SV650S (2002 model)
mods:
Zero Gravity bubble windscreen
Ermax undertail painted in the bikes color
Delkevic 350mm Oval slipon exhaust
It's my first bike. Have had it for 3 years now. I would like a newer bike but I'm not made of money
Finally getting warm. Battery almost certainly dead by now tho.
Thinking of jumpstarting my bike by rolling down the driveway and starting in-gear towards the end; anyone have experience with something like that?
Yeah a tender would be good but I don't have power in my garage (separate from the house). I normally just ride every few weeks despite the cold but I pussied out this yearI used to bump start my dirt bike like that when I was being lazy (or totally worn out from riding). Just be careful because cold tires + cold road could lead to the back tire just locking up and sliding. I would put the bike in 2nd if you are going to do it.
Why not just get a battery tender to keep the battery good all year?

Hey I feel like a noob asking about this but have either of you ever shifted into a "neutral between gears"?
It's happened to me twice. I'm going quickly from 5th to 6th and maybe I didn't kick the shifter up hard enough, but the instrument still says 5th and the throttle just revs like in neutral. I pull in the clutch, click up properly and I'm good, but it's strange.
Somewhat related:
I've had instances when the shifter vibrates, as if I mistimed the clutch release and the plates didn't engage properly and there's a brief "brrrrr" rattle in the shifter. :/
False neutral. From my experience some bikes are just more prone to this than others. My street triple has hit a couple false neutrals even with the quick shifter. Its more of an annoyance than anything.
Your shifter sounds a little more concerning if it happens all the time though.
Going from 5 to 6 you slip into neutral? I don’t think I have ever done that. All my bikes are 1N23456 so the only time I ever accidentally slip into neutral is when I tap too lightly coming out of first.HellforLeather TrainedRage

When this does happen however I notice it more when I’m not wearing my riding boots.
Kinda random but have you changed the oil recently? That could help.
Yeah, both oil and filter.
I think you're right it's the boots. The way the controls are set up on the scout my foot has to travel more if I don't have a proper boot.
I've shifted into neutral from 1st to 2nd lol it's so embarrassing, especially with a loud ass exhaust.
