Hey All,

Have a quick question for people who might know about Cel phones, and or if you know a website for phone news and rumors.

Does anyone know if the Moto RAZR:

Will ever be introduced to users of Verizon Wireless Service? I have VZW and I really love the design of the RAZR and was curious to know if would come out for VZW, or if it is an exclusive to Cingular.

afaik the phone can't run on verizon w/o serious changes as the networks are completely different (cingular/at&t/t-mobile vs. verizon) and would require a complete hardware overhaul.

I'm pretty sure the phone is a GSM phone (Cingular and T-Mobile are GSM networks), not compatible with the Verizon cell phone service. So they'd have to rework the entire internal circuitry of the phone to get it to work, more or less.

ohhh ok.

I was asking because I had thought the RAZR was CDMA/GSM compatible.

So does anyone have cingular, and live in NYC, or the 5 boroghs, and can tell me how good the service is....

cingular is great for me, and i regularly travel to the city and brooklyn from queens. the only spotty coverage i've encoutered is in central park between columbus circle and the mid 60s when i go jogging.

besides, you can't beat the rollover minutes.

yeah my only problem is that I have that stupid ass contract with VZW, and I if I break it, I have to pay some dumb ass fee. This August, would be 1yr with my current contract, and then I have 1yr remaining. I wonder how much it would be to get out of my contract with them, and look at Cingular....

Also, if I were to switch over to cingular, u can bring your current cel number with you right?

It's GSM only right now, but a CDMA version was shown earlier this year in Korea with an improved 1MP phone. Some whispers of it coming out late this year here, but it could just as easily be sometime next year instead.

Yeah, there's no firm release date for the CDMA RAZR at the moment. And given Verizon's rather...heh...strict testing protocols, a phone's announcement and when Verizon finally decides to sell it are two wildly different dates.

Also, the CDMA RAZR is slightly larger than the GSM version.

Anyone know what the cancelation fee's are for Verizon?

If you have a 2yr agreement, and one year would be up in August?

The exact number is somewhere in your contract's fine print, but you can probably expect to pay about $175-$200.
