Mouse or Trackpad?

I'm working out of office and my batteries just died on my wireless mouse. Now I have to use the horrible trackpad and it's taking me many seconds to do simple tasks. How does anyone like these? Controlling it is awkward in all setups, I need to go buy some more batteries.

Mouse or trackpad, Gaf? Laptops should come with a mini mouse that snaps in somewhere, the trackpad should never have existed.

I have a MacBook pro so the trackpad is damned awesome because of multitouch gestures.

So much so, that I would likely prefer a trackpad over a mouse for a desktop computer if I owned one.

What Mrkgoo said.

I hated trackpads until I got my MBP, and now it's the best thing ever. The gestures and being able to define them all makes it a truly great thing.

When I'm on my work computer, I only use the nub.

seconded on the macbook pro trackpads. large surface area + multi gesture input

as for my preferred laptop mouse you should check this out, one of the most comfortable ive ever used

WOWPEN - keeps the hand in a more natural position. The unique shape also reduces necessary mouse travel, i basically move my fingers rather than my arm to move the cursor

I never understand why people still buy those things that have to be shoved all over your desk.....
This is the ultimate for FPS! (well, for me it is)

MBP trackpad for the awesome. Keyboard is probably my main way of doing things, and I trackpad around when I need to. 2 finger scrolling is so awesome. In a perfect world I'd also have a Wacom for when I need it.

Oh, I'm on a HP laptop and I hate it. I'm sure multitouch gestures could change my mind as that sounds awesome.

It's so hard for me to do work with this, the best way to describe it is when you use scissors in the mirror and what you see is flipped so you feel awkward and uncoordinated.

I guess I should finish my work now and get off Gaf now but I don't want to...............................................

Damn I've never seen something like that, I'm gonna do some research. Just when I thought I'd finish my work, too.

I think Apple should release a trackpad add-on for desktops.

Also, isn't a glass trackpad just begging for a screen some day?

Trackpads are pretty much the worst input device ever made. Other then the Macbook multi-touch ones, they are pretty much all crap. Can not stand them.

Yeah, add me to the macbook trackpad lovers. I bought a mouse but I never use it unless I'm at a desk (never).

I don't own a mac but I feel the same way. It's like the first time I got mouse gestures in Firefox.

I love my mouse, and BTW I hate my glass trackpad with multigesture.

Why the hell should i swipe 3 fingers if I can use an awesome arrow key???? :D

That there is the one I got. You know they have something right when they still sell the same model after more then 5 years.

+1 vote for MacBook Giant Trackpad of Awesomeness.

I'm also one of those people that wish I could use multitouch gestures when using my desktop now.

I can't stand nubs or trackpads. I wish you could get a laptop with a good ol' trackball. If it's good enough for defending against missile attacks, it should be good enough for surfing pr0n.

For the same reason an arcade stick is >>>> than a d-pad.

You have much more control over precise movement when you have the muscles of your hand + forearm engaged.
