There have been a bunch of good movies in 2005, Sin City, Kung Fu Hustle and many more I can't tink of right now. Which one, to you, has been the best? I don't want a list f the top grossers of the year, I wat to see what people actually liked [I need something good to see ;)]

I haven't seen a single 2005 release.

God, that's somewhat shocking. Unfortunately, tickets are expensive, DVDs are cheap in comparison, and I can't say I enjoy dealing with the typical obnoxious movie theater patrons.

DVD's are at least 4x as much as a movie ticket, plus movie theater experience>everything else

Movie theater patrons suck. I saw 8 mile in a, uh, rather 'urban' theater. It kept getting interested by these black guys from the burbs pretending they're black, standing up in the middle of the movie and screaming "AW FUCK HE DIN'T JUST DO THAT!"

I wanted to be like, "Whoa, guys... it's eminem, and it's not REAL. He wrote the lyrics before the movie."

But the main point I'm making is there really haven't been any amazing movies this year. I didn't like Sin City to the point that everyone else does... I guess I don't orgasm that easily. Kung Fu Hustle i'm sure is good, but this friday seems to be the first must-see movie of the year with Kingdom of Heaven. Other than that, I'll be anxiously waiting Cinderella Man, War of the Worlds and the new Batman. Not much else is exciting me.

I mean, when FF7:AC cracks my top 10 for "must see movies this year", I wouldn't look and say it's a strong year for movies.

Sorry for double post, but had to hit this.

Dude, if you get a DVD the week it comes out at Best Buy or Circuit City, you can usually find it for roughly 15 bucks. You're paying at least 8 bucks for a movie ticket. So uh, 4x's the theater price is a bit off. Unless you pay $40 dollars for DVDs.

if you only buy one ticket yeah, but for families, dvd vs. movie trip is a much different cost analysis.

Also, nearly everything I love about the theater experience is trumped by other people being twats.

Fact is, I can either pay $8.50 to see a movie ONCE or wait four-six months and pay $15-20 for UNLIMITED viewing, not to mention DVDs contain a ton more content. Besides, the last several times I've been at the theater, no matter what time of day or location, it has always been disrupted by a fucking baby or cell phone or annoying teens that need to narrate the film in some stupid belief that they're comic genuises.

I might go out and see Unleashed in theaters, otherwise it'll be Revenge of the Sith.

Theatre is a lot better than a DVD. Sure, it's like $6 or whatever, and you can only watch it once, but install a 30 foot screen with insane audio quality, and im sure it'll cost more than all the $6 movies you've seen in your life.

I don't like paying for:

Crying babies
Talkative seniors and/or teenagers
Ringing cellphones
People talking on cellphones
People checking their cellphones for no reason and distracting me with that damn blue glow
People noisily eating
etc.

If people could have an ounce of fucking courtesy, I'd enjoy the theater like I used to. But when I have to deal with babies at an 11pm showing of Matrix Reloaded, or some dick's cellphone going off THREE TIMES during Sideways, it's unacceptable and it ruins the experience.

1. Sin City
2. The Upside of Anger

Beyond those two, this has been a pretty bad four months. I've been to 18 movies in the theater, and only a small handful would I consider to be even decent.

Never even heard of upside of anger. How was it, what was it about, etc.?

I'll see Batman, Star Wars, KoH, and WotW in theatres this year. I'll rent Sin City when it comes out. I'm pretty sure that's the best movie so far. I don't go to the movies often because it costs too much.

Oh fuck. I didn't even realize this had any sort of US release beyond the film festivals. Kind of pissed that there's no R3 DVD yet, because that damn crazy-expensive Japanese disc is calling to me. Want to see so badddd!

Sin City is a movie you need to see on the big screen with kick ass theater sound. Watching at home on your DVD player isn't the same experience. :)

It's really fucking excellent, as you can see by its position on my list. Highly reccomended if you can get a hold of it soon.

Suck it down, bitches!

Don't get me wrong, I still really liked Sin City, but there is plenty I didn't like about it. I can't say that about KFH.
I agree. I liked Sin City but then again, it wasn't really my type of movie. I really liked Kung Fu Hustle though.

It's Crash for me so far this year (although a case for Downfall as well). Incredible performances all around from the ensemble cast, with standouts being Matt Dillon and Don Cheadle. I never thought I'd say that, but Brendan Fraser and particularly Sandra Bullock -playing against type - are very convincing. ****1/2 out of ***** from me.

Heh! I went to the 12:55 show today to watch kung fu hustle and paid $4.50

The beggining of the movie was kind of weird, not what I was expecting. The rest of it was awesome.
