Mp1st: Starfield's PS5 Release Planned for Spring 2026

starfield-ps5-2048x1151.jpg

According to our sources, MP1st was told that Starfield won't be released in 2025, partly due to the RPG's weak sales of the first expansion, Shattered Space. Instead, Microsoft is leaning toward releasing the Starfield PS5 version in Spring 2026. For those not in the US, spring starts the middle of March and runs until mid-June.

From what we were told, Starfield's release on PS5 is planned to coincide with the game's second expansion and other quality-of-life updates. We are also not expecting any announcement about the PS5 version of the game at this August's gamescom, so don't expect it to be shadowdropped like Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered release a few months ago, which is something we reported on accurately (for anyone keeping score).

Must be some massive DLC. Can't wait. Probably has the full space stations.

I prefer waiting longer for a bigger expansion, then jumping back in for dozens of hours, rather than small updates dripped out.

what about fixing the game first
They pushed a ton of amazing updates last week

A new Starfield update is available today, with improvements to the Creations menu as well as crash and stability fixes. Looking ahead, we're continuing work on future updates and will share more about the exciting things we have planned for Starfield in the coming months.

Update Notes:

General

  • Minor improvements to format and display in Creations menus.
  • Addressed an issue that could cause that Extreme Temperature gear to appear incorrectly.
  • Minor improvements to sorting in the Missions Menu.
  • General crash and stability fixes.

Lmao after that garbage that you guys made called Oblivion Remaster, you can keep that piece of turd. I want distance from anything from them.

had lots of fun with the game but a ps5 port wont be popular round these parts :messenger_tears_of_joy:
300 hours logged, it surely had issues but I enjoyed it a lot. Been planning to jump in again but last playthrough I kinda broke the game focusing on melee (OP!) and reached the starborn space fight with weaksauce ship and couldn't finish it, bummed me out.

And lmao I understand what you mean, I don't know why MS waste money on porting it. Can't see it selling well. Too late, too hated, will probably be sold at high price as well. They need a seriously impressive expansion to get some positive noise around the unveil. Don't know what they can add that people actually want.
Planet surface flights?
More cities and villages?
Non-random loot and locations?

Kind of diasgree on Oblivion Remastered because that game's content and presentation are really good, even for 2025 standards.

It's just the performance (on all platforms) that is botched.

But, Starfield is uninspired garbage throughout. No expansions or ports can fix the base, core game.

Fallout and Elder Scrolls were put on the backburner for this pile of shit game.

Tragically bad, It felt lifeless, No soul and like Dench says sterile... felt like a remastered PS360 game.

It runs terribly even on a PS5 Pro. Frankly unacceptable.

I think it will sell well, especially since there's nothing huge planned for Q1 next year as far as I know.

I love this game and it's possibly my favorite this gen, but for sure it will not resonate with everyone. But there is so much to do once you start getting into the different systems, and there are a lot of good mods those days (mostly paid though).

Fair enough. I was just talking content. Obviously it's a valid reason to not purchase if the perf is that bad.
I played 500 hours of Oblivion back on PS3 and I still love it. But it just doesn't run well even on Pro. The stutter is obviously there, but the FPS is all over the place as well. I think this is technically the worst Pro game I have played so far.

I've zero interest in this but I'm surprised they'd let it go so close to GTA VI. They must have a bigger game planned this holiday instead. Maybe Halo?

Unless there's a drastic Starfield 2.0 overhaul coming with it, I don't see it making waves on PS5 or anywhere else, really.

Too much goodwill was lost because of Shattered Space to expect people to line up for more.

not as good as fallout but I enjoyed it. Its a very sterile game though. Feels clean and safe but can still be great fun.
It was fun at times, but it completely ruined what made Bethesda games great: wandering off the beaten path and running into a full blown questline. (Daedric quests did this so well) Starfield had none of that. I was landing on procedurally generated planets and doing generic quests.
Its easily the weakest Bethesda published game by far.

I am currently replaying Fallout 4 and I am now noticing many of the very obvious warning signs.

This game truly pissed me off, bought the super big edition, digital, on Xbox, utterly disappointed

If you're entertaining the idea of picking it up for the PS5, honestly, don't bother. It's complete shite.

And I'll play any old shite, but this game was complete pants.
