Mp1st: Starfield's PS5 Release Planned for Spring 2026

I managed to enjoy it for what it is, but it was still a big letdown.

What I wanted: Bethesda RPG taken to the next level. This generation's Skyrim that people will be playing and talking about for a decade +

What I got: basically a mid-tier Bethesda game set in space, with some "Modern Audiences" sensibilities and soulless copy/paste environments

I guess worth playing if the price is reasonable, but keep your expectations tempered.

Also I'll say the UC Vanguard faction quest line (which you unlock pretty early) was really fucking cool, and gave me some unrealistic expectations for the rest of the game.

I remember how low my expectations were for this game and it still ended up disappointing me. Not only Bethesda kept a lot of the archaic mechanics intact, but they also made some elements worse than before. I never felt so much copy-pasting when playing their TES or Fallout games and the exploration aspect was very underwhelming since there was a big incentive to just fast travel everywhere. So yeah, my advice is expect the worst if you didn't play it yet.

While the game missed the mark in the worst way possible, for all the reasons you missed.

I have no hesitation in saying that the faction quest lines were the best that Bethesda has done for any game.

For those not in the US, spring starts the middle of March and runs until mid-June.

I am a grown man, and this is the first time in my entire life that I have considered that the four seasons could potentially be different for other countries. It obviously makes sense, but it has never once crossed my mind that Spring would be anything other than mid-March to mid-June for anyone.

With all these flaws it's still a solid 9,5/10

That's a strange way of saying 6/10:

They're ALL clueless!!! Can't spot gold, if it drops on their faces.

ps: lol steam reviews. Have you ever read any of them?

Whether you like it or not, when there's a high volume of steam reviews they give you a pretty accurate consensus on whether or not people at large have taken to/enjoyed a game.

P. S. You should try sorting the reviews by "all time" instead of scraping the barrel to suit your agenda. This is the "most helpful" review on the platform:

This game truly pissed me off, bought the super big edition, digital, on Xbox, utterly disappointed

If you're entertaining the idea of picking it up for the PS5, honestly, don't bother. It's complete shite.

And I'll play any old shite, but this game was complete pants.

Same here. I treated Starfield like a national holiday, took time off work, warned the family, made a whole ceremony out of it. Kids gathered around like it was Christmas morning. I'm sitting there going, "OHHHH SHIIII, LOOK AT THAT SPACESHIP DESCENDING!" Fought some NPCs I didn't even care about, just wanted them out of the fucking way so I could touch the shiny spaceship. Sit through a coma-inducing dialogue tree, finally get to the ship and… loading screen. I'm like, "Alright, fine, load to board, I get it." Then boom, another loading screen to leave the planet. My son was laughing directly into my ear loud AF at that point.

"Plans could change" "based on information At this moment" "lots of moving parts". Another attention seeking "insider."
Yep, clearly we're just attention seeking and the numerous leaks, rumors and reports we ran that were spot-on have nothing to do with it.

Horizon remaster leaked literally more than a year before it was announced (https://mp1st.com/news/report-horiz...r-ps5-horizon-multiplayer-game-in-development)

Resident Evil 9 announcement confirmed at SGF (https://mp1st.com/news/report-resident-evil-9-to-be-revealed-this-week)

Persona 4 Remake leak (https://mp1st.com/news/persona-4-remake-xbox-games-showcase)

Oblivion Remastered shadowdrop report that was true (https://mp1st.com/news/the-elder-scrolls-iv-oblivion-remastered-reveal-shadowdropping-same-day) - We also were the first ones that outed the existence of AC4 Black Flag remake, Oblivion remake/remaster

We (I) also reported that Star Wars Battlefront 2 microtransactions were being removed before EA announced it (https://mp1st.com/news/star-wars-ba...y-all-gear-to-be-unlocked-through-progression).

There's a lot more like that, but yeah, you're right. We clearly are BSing and just attention seeking. /s

Not sure why I read all that like...

I had a lot of fun with the game. The story, side missions, gameplay, and shipbuilding were all very well done. Only the base building felt kind of pointless, and the planets aside from the ones with large cities were pretty boring.

Dont buy it guys, no matter how much you love bethesda. Games core systems and design is inherently fucked. Its bad bad bad and no matter what they change with dlc, will in any way change that core loop and systems

Good review, extremely hard to find these on steam. Just like on metacritic users leave '1 reviews' out of spite for other platform, you have similarly useless on steam.
My main issue with steam reviews is negative means = 1/10, positive = 10/10. Not that I would read any reviews on it anyway, but it's silly.

Game's a very solid 9,3/10 Could it be better, yes. I wish we could control ships like in Star citizen for example, but it's not a flight sim. You have awesome ship building, base building, great story with a nice twist etc, etc, etc, etc ,etc.

Unbelievably bad game because it has all the pretence of an epic galaxy-sized RPG while utterly failing to deliver on even the most basic of premises. A total failure.

I still can't believe how hard Bethesda dropped the ball with this one.

I had sky high expectations and from that perspective I was disappointed.

But I still enjoyed it, as a No Man's Sky fan it fit me well. Felt less overwhelming and more compact. Building spaceships was awesome! Base building was interesting too but not as rewarding, and the faction quests were mostly great, main quest up til the big reveal was cool too.

Pretty sure that those who downright hated the game never played it or stopped before leaving the first planet.

I never understood the appeal of going over the finish line though. There was hype over that but I was just wuuuuut?? I mean seriously what's even up with that??
Can't do a 100 hour roguelike! So much work only to start over and see some story tweaks. I had the same issues with No Man's Sky. I do NOT want to lose all my creations if I've spent 50+ hours building them! So dumb. At least leave my base as an abandoned place I can reclaim and have my ships flying somewhere in the universe. They should add THAT in an update. Don't just erase my stuff !
And I actually tried to plow through it to see some story variations but it's too much work. Heard people going through it like 5-10 times or whatever. What's the playtime for that? 500-800 hours?

I know this game is painted as the worst game ever made since Big Rigs Off the Road Racing, but I played it for 50 hours or so. Beat it actually, which is rare for me in massive rpg's.

I had a good time. Was it No Man's Sky level of exploration and space flight, but with Skyrim mechanics? Nope. But I enjoyed it. This was not the killer app they had planned, but none the less it was a fun time for me.

You know the score! :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I hadn't felt that deflated since Hitman Absolution

And that hit hard!

Ok if you want to go in that direction then what do you make of these?:

Or does it not apply in both directions?

And let's not forget this episode (you're displaying exactly the same behaviour/energy here as well by the way, but I digress...):

X4 are certainly not for sony gamers who thinks nms is an ok game. Are you maybe joking?

I'm not joking and neither was f~N_CH_1:3:3:3_SushiBoat f~N_CH_1:3:3:3_SushiBoat , but that's not stopped you getting your panties in a twist.

Lots of people game on multiple systems here, if they happen to have access to playing those games mentioned then yes, they would be better off playing them instead of Starfield.

That makes sense (the release window, I mean). I would probably pick it up for $30, if it ever drops that low. I can't see paying full price for it.

If Veilguard wasn't awoke satain, the game itself, from the core, would've been better than Starfield. And no, i don't consider Veilguard as good, decent or even acceptable. It's trash.

Crazy to think that Starfield is actually the game they tried to launch their third franchise that could be milked for decades to come. This lazy, outdated mess of a game is what they green lit. Insane, and really out of touch.

I'd like to thank all of the beta testers who paid so much and worked so hard to provide so much valuable feedback. Can't wait to see V 1.0 next spring.

Top5 game this gen. Despite its various flaws it is made for people who have fantasized about a future where humanity found a way to traverse the stars and that it would probably be a messy, fragile endevour. It's also wonderfully weird, populated by eccentric characters, encounters that can be both scary and totally hilarious, because why would normal people ever go to space in tin cans that can fall apart any second to reach planets that will probably kill you as soon as you step outside. I'm not joking, it is a monumental achievement and haters just don't get it.

I might get into it 🤔 there HAS to be something neat about it.

Does it still run like shit for no reason?

Yes. It have big dips on certain effects (some quests like that one with pilgrimage will tax the PS5 like crazy) and constantly stutters from my last experience. The only thing I'm not certain because I didn't test was the hard drops when you play the game for long periods(the one DF showed).

I played it for about 2 hours on GP PC, it was average as fuck. Performance was "eh" but I don't think I got to any of the tankie hubs.
