I loved the movie, and so did my gf. My only gripe with the movie was the ending. I wanted more, and it just ended abruptly.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith 2 is almost obvious after an 18.3 million pull on the first day.
I really don't see a sequel to this working, to be honest. Some movies just aren't made for franchises.

Well my feeling on the ending goes two ways.

1) HUGE plot hole, bad editing, "durrrrrr"

2) they are hoping for a hit for a sequel (which is what they are getting)

Haha, the almighty dollar will vanquish that train of thought.

I don't know, depends what they do with it. It's obvious they can't just reheat the plot from this one, which hinged on them not knowing what the other did. Maybe it was just a plothole,
but not much was said about why the two of them being married was a problem, afterall neither of them was realising until the joint operation made them discover that they were both assassins. Also, maybe I was the only who thought this, and I don't know if it'll bear up under further watching but I got the feeling that the boss of the two agencies was the same person. Also I don't think it was ever explained who Seth Cohen was working for, Brad's agency, Angelina's or a third one?

:lol

Just thought it was funny you referred to Adam Brody as Seth Cohen :p

It was something my friend said, because he was basically playing exactly the same character, which fair enough may have been why he was hired in the first place, not saying anything about his range as an actor.

Yeah, it was funny cause he seemed like the exact way he did in The O.C.

In the beginning of the movie when he was called out on a hit and referred to as the "Tank," I was like "WTF, Seth Cohen as a villain?" How wrong I was :lol

The agencies didn't know that though...while they (mr and mrs) may have been playing dumb about who their spouses where to their agencies, for all their employers knew, they were fully aware of it, and eventually that could compromise an assignment or whatever

Saw it last night! Great movie! Good action, funny dialogue, halfway decent storyline! Good stuff! I'll be picking this up on dvd!

If I'd only ever seen the teaser trailer for this one there's no way I'd ever have considered watching it, but I caught the longer trailer when I went to watch Sin City the other week, and it's a damn good thing I did, because this is actually the best no-brainer action flick I've seen in a long while. Plenty of good action, plenty of good one-liners, very little dead-time in the whole thing. Better than it has any right to be, in fact.

so everyone agrees the ending was shit. i mean, how do they have time to continue going to a marriage counselor when they're apparently on the run? so many things just don't add up.

You're analyzing it way too much.

I'm sorry, this is a story about
a hitman and a female assassin working for a group of entirely female assassins run by someone called 'Father', who end up marrying each other (and getting a secret base built under the toolshed and a high-tech weapons storage facility fitted into the oven) without either of them noticing what the other is up to because they met by chance in Bogota
, and you feel that the story doesn't hold together because they have time to visit a marriage councillor at the end of the film?

Please, be more consistent with your willing suspension of disbelief, or just acknowledge that this isn't the sort of film for you.

[Edit: Spoilered for anyone who hasn't even watched the fricking trailer]

No, I liked the film. It was just that the ending felt rushed. They didn't really flesh it out. And you reminded me of something else I didn't like. Jane worked for an all-women assassin firm. I hated that shit. Reminded me of Charlie's Angels, and damn if that didn't suck.

I liked that bit.
Its clearly a Butch Cassidy moment, with the troops gathering around the shed, so you are meant to expect the same. Its a nice turnaround.

Saw it today with the wife.

Fun movie and I agree the chemistry between the two was excellent. No wonder Pitt and Anniston are divorced. :lol

I also agree Vince Vaughn's role was pretty weak. He definitely seemed out of his element. He didn't really elicit too many laughs in the theater I was at.

Overall though, this is an awesome couples movie.

I went to see this film on Saturday at the Odeon in Newcastle (I had been planning to go see The Cat Returns at the Tyneside Cinema but the 3.45pm showing was cancelled for some reason so I quickly formulated a Plan B). I thought it wasn't bad, and I definitely liked the bit with
Angelina Jolie in bondage gear... mmmmmm....
:D

I agree with Iapetus that its a good solid popcorn movie. There are very few good ones for me these days.

I think the Pitt/Jolie chemistry helps. It has some of the fun feeling of Ocean's Eleven - not taking itself too seriously.

After watching it I realised I have too few 'fun' movies in my collection, so ordered Con Air, Crimson Tide, and the two Bournes.

I had the chance to watch it last night with a friend. I loved every second of it except for the final shootout scene. I kind of expected something more clever from them rather than just using brute force (which was ridiculous) :lol
