MS aims for 360. 10 million...

I can see them shifting 6 million in NA with Madden 06 alone...

It's all gonna depend on price.

If the price is right then they're going to fly of shelves. If not then they'll still be sitting there when PS3 launches.

I really can't wait to see the pricing in the UK.

WW or NA only ?

worldwide goal according to Moore. That's pretty reasonable because it doesn't mean 10 million before PS3 hits; just 10 million after the next holiday season.

Faf they might have aimed for it, but they didn't get near it. I assume Moore is saying we need these numbers with the launch advantage they have. As for the launch price its either going to be ÂŁ250 or ÂŁ299 as will the PS3 although I suspect this will ÂŁ299. I'm pretty sure by the way that Sony are desperate to get PS3 by April, May 06, they defineatly do not want to give MS a bigger lead time.

One thing is for sure, there is no way PS3 will be out in Europe by Spring '06.

And if XBox 360 is $299, there is no way it's going to be ÂŁ299. The days of that kind of thing are over... hopefully.

You haters are gonna be disappoinnted soon :D

Aren't we past the "you guys are in for a real surprise" and "you'll see" kind of posts yet? I mean E3 is over. How many units they sell isn't going to be a factor of any pretend secret news you might have. It'll be a factor of how many units they can ship during launch and how good of consumer acceptance they get after that.

That being said, 10M in 12-16 months is 2 holiday seasons in 3 regions. They damn well better get 10M shipped or they're in serious trouble. I'd expect that they'll make 15M in that time frame.

Sorry, i just was just highlightinng faffy's overt bias, selective memory and MS hate :)

Most rational humans would expect 360 to be wildly successful worldwide compared to xbox.

I think the price of the games is gonna more of a factor, if $60 is the standard price it might slow down the adoption rate

For reference it looks like after Xbox's 16th month (February 2003) the NPD numbers have it right around 5 million. It has also been the case that NA numbers have been more than half of the worldwide total, but perhaps that would not so much be the case with NA not having one holiday season Europe and Japan miss out on.

How many units has Microsoft sold in North America? 15-20 million?
About 13 thus far.

So, they sell 20 million xboxs WW in its life time and they expect to sell half of that in one year? O....k
What sonycowboy says about holiday seasons is a good point, since such a huge percentage of sales comes from that time. If we count North America and Europe as the only places that have REALLY mattered for MS this gen, thus far they've had 4 holiday seasons in one, and 3 in another. With 16 months they get 2 holiday seasons in both territories, and nearly bookend with the huge months of November and December. Considering that, and that Xbox has done better each year, these figures are in the realm of possibilty.

Actually, it's about 12.5M ;) (up through April NPD with May coming out on Thursday)

Well, that's what happens when you build a good fanbase. Look at sales of Halo over 3 years compared to Halo 2 in the first week.

At that pace I don't see how they are going to get over a billion users.

That was their stated target for what they feel the industry can do, not 360. Ug, this is gonna be the longest running misquote of all time around here.

I think it's in the next critical update for XP.

Probably some Media Player 10 X360 compatibility thing.
That way MS can say "A Billion Users"

Just like when they "Shipped" all those millions of Xbox's at launch.
Shipping isn't the same as selling. I bet most of them were sitting in a warehouse somewhere owned by MS.
