[MS-Conf] The Halo 4 E3 Campaign Reveal

In a way, this is the perfect time for Halo to go in this direction. It plays well into the idea of a genuinely new trilogy that makes a clean break from the Bungie line.

It's also how... Halo 1 felt? You know... Before metroid prime came out?

Anyways... The sound design is incredible. Keep having eargasms while watching the footage

Not really. The environments were diverse but it didn't really feel lively, bustling with life, and atmospheric. Part of this has to do with the limited capabilities of the Xbox console compared to GC but Halo 4 is a big departure from the original trilogy still.

I'm sure everyone agrees this is definitely the best looking game on the 360, bar none though.

I'm astounded at what 343 is pulling off here with 7-8 year old hardware.

Sorry but nope.

Go play 343 Guilty Spark, AotCR, Two Betrayals

VVVVVVV Get out

Hey Xbox is more powerful then GC. Metroid prime just had a completely different direction back then from Halo. Metroid Prime was focusing on atmosphere, the sense of being alone on an alien planet, when halo was not.

Far Cry 3 was the only shooter I really gave a damn about this year, as I guess I just found it difficult to get excited for a non-Bungie Halo. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the footage. It looks like it's still Halo, but it also looks like it has been sharply updated just enough to make it stand out. Very impressive indeed.

So... This somehow doesn't feel like the level 343 guilty spark... how?

I never played Metroid so I don't care about the similarities. I don't care what it resembles as long as its bad ass.

At this point in the game you are bound to draw similarities to some type of shooter when using a certain color-pallette, I guess orange in this case.

Next time someone comes out with a shooter where the main character wears green armor everyone is going to scream "master chief ripoff"

1 level doesn't equal the entire game. I'm not saying the game is lacking in any atmospheric environments. However, the direction that Halo and MP went for are completely different. You get more of a MP vibe from Halo 4 than 1 is what I'm trying to say. Everyone riding my ass about my comment needs to calm down.

I think it's official that Cortana has flipped her wig.

Likeliness we see her start her descent... So she likely wasn't talking to anyone good

Her rampancy will likely go full flight in halo 5... She may eventually become the main baddy in reclaimer trilogy too

That short 7 minute clip was far more impressive than anything Bungie had done with halo.

I might actually dust off my 360 to play this.

What was Cortana screaming at the end of the trailer?

Hopefully at Master Chief. but really, probably the unknown enemie speaking right at the very end who hasn't been revealed yet. and ill bet Cortana's rampancy will get cured by forerunner technology.

Sounded to me she might be yelling at the Chief because he it trying to leave to stop some threat, but she needs him to stay to fix her rampancy via a technology on the forerunner world.

I was concerned AI might take a hit for the visuals, but now I'm wondering if the big open spaces/battles will get the chop too...

Wouldn't be the end if the world, but still.

Visually though, this game shits on anything I've seen on console so far. Although I'd need a hands on to see if it really tops Rage or Crysis 2.

edit: wait... something is stuck, will fix soon.

This is the best.

Yeah, i don't think having Cortona shouting at you like a mad derange women throughout the game would make for a compelling gaming experience. And even if that were the case, Master Chief would most likely just plug her out lol.

Halo 1 and Metroid Prime always felt very similar to me, actually. Both games had a great sense of atmosphere, making you experience the feel of being isolated on an alien planet; so, in a sense, it is just returning to its roots. That being said, those new enemies and the visor are undoubtedly reminiscent of Metroid Prime, but it's understandable I guess, after all, some ex-Retro guys are working on the design of Halo 4.

There's way more to it than that. The enemy design, the UI, the atmosphere, the way the combat with these new enemies seem to work - it all seems similar to Metroid Prime.

Metroid Prime influence can only be a good thing, but

I see very little of it compared to you guys. The game looks great, and I see a resemblance in the new enemy designs and the visor, but it's still very clearly Halo. Combat looks right out of any of the other Halo games, narrow FoV and oversized weapons intact.
