Live look at microsoft after people find out about this.

The 2:1 change happened in 2024 from what I can tell when googling for cheap stacking deals.

About that, what's currently the cheapest way to stack up on Gamepass without having to work for it with MS rewards?
I only have it prepaid til year end.

I thought this back in 2024 but that was when you didn't let it lapse and renewed. Now though even if you do it's the lower conversion rate. There is no way to get a better conversion rate now.

Before COD launched. There was outrage.

But you probably forgot to read why you were outraged??
What are you talking about? This wasn't announced before CoD launched. There was a price hike before CoD launched, I don't remember any conversion change announcement or outrage. Post a link or some proof at least because you are going against a recent article saying it just happened.

My 5+ years of GPU done via a mix of conversion back in 2019 and several keys from Turkey in the past (about £32 a year) expired a few days ago. I searched for "cheap" methods and really couldn't find anything. Some people use account sharing but screw that.

Ended up getting a 3 month PC game pass for £22 and MS offered an extra month for enabling automatic renewal. I guess moving forward I'll renew it when there are games I want to play (currently Clair Obscure and Doom)

The cheap days of Game Pass are over

Haven't looked into the details but they mention a 2:1 rate change in September 2024 here

Soon I'll just start using regular PC Gamepass, I've retired the console anyway so Ultimate seems unnecessary. What's the current normal monthly cost on PC? $12

This was known for a while.

It gets even worse of a conversion rate, if you are a sub already and the 2:1 is only for new or unsubbed accounts, meaning to get the full stack of 36 months of GPU , you have to first convert the first 36 months of gold into 1.5 years of GPU, and then the remaining 18 months must be of the new lower conversion rate. The new lower conversion rate for active subs, is 1:3.

This wasn't "stealthily" done. They were open about it. Announced it a few months before taking effect. Changes went live last September I think.

Yeah as said above PC Gamepass might be the convenient way forward. I don't do account sharing and no plans to fiddle with ms rewards besides the 10 points per day or whatever for playing something or starting the app.

Rewards has progressively gotten worse as well. They've tinkered with their AI that monitors searches such that you are likely to get hit with cooldowns if you search too quickly will limit you to four searches every fifteen minutes. Once the rewards price increases are fully in place, you will barely be able to earn enough points in a month for a one month subscription, conversion trickery aside. It was great while it lasted, but once I hit my 999 badge/cash out my points on one last $100 Amazon GC, I think I'm going to bail out. It's just too cumbersome.

Yeah I quickly realized that I don't have time for any of that. Simply talking here instead of cleaning the kitchen table infront of me right now is pushing it tbh. Soon 50 and I've still not got used to being an adult. It's just work work work and maybe play a little then work work work rinse and repeat 😞

It used to be something that could be knocked out in 10-15 minutes a day and the points earned were generous enough to pay for GPU and get a $100 Amazon GC about every six months so it was easy to recommend. It was fun while it lasted though.

What are you talking about Saturdays? Warring is a 24/7 job.
You'll are out of your minds. I saw this in my google/chrome new tab feed:

Searched and found an earlier May 5 article/source which got to the point and posted it here. The fact that twistedvoxel and comicbook seem to believe they literally "just made" this change means it was a pretty lowkey/stealthy change that people were not made aware of if it was in effect much earlier. There is no hate. I barely even post any threads ffs.

Oh, 10-15 minutes is alright, I guess. But idk unless it can be done automatically while I do something else it's still not for me. My priorities already suck. I've cleaned the kitchen table between these posts though! ✌️

It was telegraphed long time before changes were made and people had the option to keep the old price as long as they stay subbed.

You just good some bad info from those sites.

Maybe instead of arguing about who's wasting their Saturday or trashing the OP, someone should just post where this was announced?

Seems people are too busy being offended. The article T Three posted is only five days old. Here's another from comicbook.com that was published yesterday. If this is old news then why are two outlets reporting this just now?

Article:
This is still a method you can use if you want to upgrade to a higher tier of Xbox Game Pass (or if you've found cheap Core codes that can be used to get the best deal), but as of today, the conversion rate has changed. Now, Xbox Game Pass Core converts into Ultimate at a 2:1 ratio - meaning 90 days of Core equals 45 days of Ultimate.

September, can we all stop arguing now?

Good find. So why are these sites just now reporting this? Bizarre.

Probably the first one didn't do any research and the other one picked up the story assuming that the first one was accurate. The absolute state of web journalism these days.

This change was made last year, there was a GAF topic about it then too.

Strangely in that thread somebody was saying it isn't new either and that they had done it 6 months before 😄
