Lunar Lake is certainly not ‘in between’ now and Strix point.

Zotac Zone has 8Gb less RAM than the Ally X, > 40% smaller battery, native portrait screen (which can pose some issues with some games), no VRR and is even bigger than the Deck. I’m not sure how that translates to ‘much better’ than the Ally X.
i stand corrected. I read the specs wrong it seems.

as far as lunar lake.. yeah i am still out. Strix Point is the next big thing.

as for as 24 ram vs 16. this is really not very usefull unless in very super rare extreme cases where your 16 gb is not enough. even if its shared. even if you give windows 6gb. you end up 10 gb which is more than enough for full hd gaming.

as matter of fact you are APU limited more than Ram limited at this point.

There are way too many handheld threads so I just picked one..

I now firmly believe that we are there and these things will finally make sense from a performance point of view:

3DMARK Time Spy Graphics score

LNL: 17W (+Mem) ~3400, 30W (+Mem)~4100
STX: 15W ~3500, 54W~4000

meh - I will wait for the steam deck 2. Def not touching the ASUS one since a) Asus is a piece of shit company and b) the first version had massive hardware issue. I remember my local best buy had a huge stack of open boxed one from returns lol.

MSI - see how this plays out - their first outing was meh.

Lenovo - actually came with something decent

But as I have a deck already seems like the next logical step for me personally would be the deck 2 in a year or so.

However - I am glad there is competition. This is what pushes advancements in tech.

The form factor and aesthetics aren’t that important for me, it’s the fact that they haven’t had a good opinion as far the chipset is concerned and AMD are about to change that.

Feels like the market already decided on this with the first one.

Didn't it barely sell and get laughed at by most people?

New Intel chips for laptops are much better. Tests showed something like 20% over AMD’s latest from what I remember.

Indeed, iirc it was by far the least performing of the handheld pc’s.

Personally my top pick would be the newer ally x, then the SD oled or the 1x ally

Whoever wrote that release probably had a quota for how many times they could use the word "AI".

This is like when every product had 3D in the name for no reason other than to sound like the newest coolest thing on the block.
