It's funny because a coworker showed me the picture of Bloodrayne in Playboy and he was shocked. i told him that it was nothing new and was extremely tame compared to some other stuff out there, and he didn't get the concept that someone could find a hand drawn or CG character sexually arousing. We went a little into the "fake" women versus "real" women debate before i lost interest. He's 22, but at the same time very naive when it comes to most things of a sexual nature or anything on the internet other than Hotmail.

It was a matter of time before this was brought to the mainstream. i really don't anticipate the inevitable discussions with others who just don't get it. Hentai doesn't really do it for me anymore (passed that stage in my teens) aside from the hilarity of seeing some characters in doujinshi, like in Azumanga Daioh. But whatever blows your hair back, as long as you can safely keep reality and fantasy separate.

ABC did an expose on raves a few years ago, and the term had been used for at least a decade. The news is always behind underground trends, although i agree this is quite late considering how easy it is to accidentally stumble on animated porn. While looking for real porn, of course, but still.

None of this bothers me... it's fantasy, though some really pretty sick stuff to me. Hand-drawn character depicting things which are largely illegal around the world, but fantasy all the same. What bothers me are the people who don't keep stuff like this a fantasy and turn it into reality. i've encountered a couple of people like this and made sure to forward their information to the authorities.

Not quite. As long as it's just a drawing or some digital creation that doesn't involve the actual use of a person to create the image. There's some more detail involved, but you can look it up, in the form of Ashcroft v. Free Speech Coalition or something like that.

Just to play Devil's Advocate....

What if you were a very talented artist, and drew an almost photorealistic image of a woman being drilled by a horse. Would that still be fine? How would that be different from a real photo? Apart from the participants, the image being presented to viewers is almost identical.
