Meme Reaction GIF by MOODMAN

edit - This post wasn't made to get likes from console warriors, I'm just so bored of this crap, I want something actually exciting to be shown, I don't give a shit how many companies MS or Sony or Nintendo or anyone own, I care about the output, please jesu christi I wish they'd shut up until they have something of worth to show.

Hellblade 2 reveal was amazing, now recently I see it on the UE Metahuman webpage, saying it was involved in making that reveal demo/the final game and I'm like "Oooh maybe it wasn't just offline graphics/a target render, it will really look just like that" and then NOTHING, just nothing else being shown for years. I'm so worn out with hearing about MS's potential.

edit 2 - I realise this gif doesn't fully make sense in this context but I just like the gif okay. See many other posts below mine for better written pieces on the subject of "I've been let down a lot with new IPs from MS and what they've shown is often disappointing or gets cancelled and they are too honest with 'lawl we don't know what the gaem even is yet' because average game-buyers don't understand game development and revealing that it can be a very incremental process with major changes happening all the time puts those people off because they think it means you don't know what you are doing, and as someone more clued in doing that + constantly letting me down will lead to me no longer giving the benefit of the doubt". Recent example is The Medium, I was quite excited for that and its middling.

Obviously your average game-buyer doesn't come here very often but I'm sure they read IGN/Gamespot/etc or at the very least use the google news thingie which will often bring up articles from there when you first start using it I presume because they are the biggest gaming sites. So they see all these article headlines of "Everwild hasn't even gotten its pants on yet" and "Fable is currently a glint in the eyes of the developer" and it must have an effect on hype/loyalty surely, just like it has with me over the last 20 yea
rs.

Lets hope they give all those amazing IPs a quality treatment and respect the craft it requires to bring those games to live and not give them the EA treatment of buying to kill it.

First Person Shooters, Third Person Cover Shooters, High Fantasy RPGs, Sci-Fi RPGs, Track Racing, Open World Racing, Side Scrollers, Flight Simulation, etc.

Microsoft has the most diverse gaming properties under it's wing and it's not even close.

How'd that work out for Rare?

I would say it worked out great for Rare, MS was the one screwed after overpaying imo, but they're still employed and making money/new IPs.

New IP Sea of Thieves has surpassed 15 Million players and they're working on a new IP called Everwild. But based on your condescending tone, I bet you either didn't know or don't care.

I mean its great and all but lets see these games first.

Halo is literally the only thing coming out this year from them and its a last gen game.

These threads look really fucking lame after MS just had their worst gen ever. Let's just wait and see if MS actually manages to put some GOTY caliber games out, let alone win GOTYs.

Avowed, Fable, Perfect Dark and Everwild are all like 2-3 years away. Lets make this thread when these games actually turn out to be GOTY caliber.

good on Microsoft..glad they aren't just sittin back taking L's this gen..hopefully some good solid games come out of this, i don't care what anyone says, their first party b4 these acquisitions was a joke

The potential for true greatness is there. I'm excited to see what they come up with although given COVID, i expect the truly big guns to starting coming out next year or later

Owning them is one thing. Doing something with them is a whole other thing.

Yeah, that's where I'm at.

I still remember Scalebound.

Also Crackdown 3 and "muh cloud!"

And them turning Halo into shit.

They can't even properly navigate their major IPs beyond Forza. Gears 5 righted the course for GoW but I doubt that'll happen again.

How'd that work out for Rare?

I have said it before and will say again: Sea of Thieves grew into a phenomenal experience that is more than just a game that you play for a dozen hours and abandon forever. I've dragged my friends to play it with me and most were sceptical - pretty much everybody adores it now.

Competition is always good, let's hope they actually deliver.
Them aggresively buying (healthy) developers instead of cultivating their own talent(and just getting exclusive games/time) kind of sucks, but yes it was indeed an impressive move, with GamePass i wonder how much Xbox is gonna grow, this could be a return to the PS3/360 generation 😳

You know, if merely buying great studios, makes the owners great, then EA would be the greatest game studio of all time. How is Westwood and Bullfrog doing?

Maybe Bo Hamez can answer that question. But I heard he took a little nap after the Bethesda deal was finalised.

Both sides have a point, imo.

Yes, MS owns considerable talent. They have a great roster on their payroll.

Yes, so far they haven't really produced AAA experiences as often/consistently as many of us would like. Those games exist, don't get me wrong, but it's the frequency that needs improvement.

MS has planted a lot of seeds, those seeds will sprout sooner than later. I look forward to seeing a steady release of great MS games over the next few years, and once they get in a rhythm hopefully the "MS has no games" crap gets put to bed for good. Hopefully.

As an investment this is great for MS. Regardless if they develop a lot of these IPs into new games or not, I am sure they would be able to sell them in the future for a profit.

But speaking as a gamer who just wants to play new games, I have a bad feeling they cannot properly manage all these IPs and some are going to get put on teh back burner.

To be fair you could have done a big long list of IP previously from Rare's catalogue alone. It's what they do with them that matters.

So complainers says MS has no exclusives, they put up lots of games coming up,
Then complained they aren't showing anything, then MS does a bunch of reveals of games coming out in the next 1-2 years and its not enough,
However, if the games are shown, then they are mad it isn't Gameplay even if the games are in early development...
YET ...
People went ape shit over a GoW logo, and a horizon zero dawn cinematic...
Gamers are a bunch of indecisive, double standard having people... Games take times to bake, go do something else while you wait, and let the ones that are excited stay excited.
