No consequences? How can you say that? We're in the middle of all of the consequences of his actions up to this point. It's like saying "oh I guess you can just run red lights all day long and nothing will happen" in the middle of the car crash. No one's dead yet and you aren't in jail at this point but shit is happening.

Any document these days exists in multiple places, and requires multiple people to know about it being destroyed, removed, or deleted in order for it to be destroyed, removed, or deleted. Even if they do a 100% perfect job of erasing every trace of a document (which is all but impossible) they need to rely on actual human beings to keep it a secret.

Of course not. If they have enough cause to get a warrant, which they almost certainly will if these people start destroying things, all bets are off.

I think if you're ordered to preserve documents then immediately destroy all the documents it's probably a bad look for you.

Not just a "bad look", but criminal obstruction of justice and destruction of evidence.
