"Mulan" - 2020 - Live Action Remake

Disney is basically bending over for China and hoping that the SJW crowd convinces the western audience to still watch this.

No thanks.

She's not black so im not gonna watch it.

wasn't this kinda like a waterdown Aladin for its time anyways. I always thought the selling point was Eddie Murphy as the dragon, kinda a Williams Genie light.

Where was the Eddie Murphy dragon?

Even though its set in ancient China we need more black, hispanic, LGTBQ2SWiiA characters. I think Harvard knows how to deal with too many Asians, they should of been part of the casting process.

They're aiming to rake in the RMB on this one.

Assuming they are presenting to us what they think are some of the films best shots... the production quality and overall execution is bad, like really bad. Like this does not look like a 50million+ production. I'm very confused why Disney would put such a low quality crew on this film.

Looks like Disney is going for realism now. Lion King is basically National Geographic and Mulan looks like a chop socky Asian action movie.

We'll see how they play out.

Looks good, curious as to how the more serious tone will hold up once they introduce the more fantastical elements (talking dragon, the ghosts, etc). I wonder if they took all the combat clips from the end of the film, or if they are going to tweak the timeline so she reveals her gender earlier in the story.
Mushu isn't in it, they gone all serious with this one.

Oh dear, my sister boyfriend is an agent for actors and he said the director is a bit of Feminists.
Be prepared

So you are telling me that instead of "I'll make a man out of you" being cut it will be turned into some sort of "men are pigs" song?

Actually I do feel like out of all the Disney movies this is the one that should be a live action remake. It has the most potential.

But.. I don't know about that trailer. Did I watch it at half speed or was everyone talking in slow motion.

I have a feeling that this website is 90% likely to be trash but I find this too funny to not post in here

That's the unfortunate part of it all. This was like the one Disney film that really needed a remake and it just doesnt look like they really understood what to do with it.

Hey, they got her name right this time and didn't call her Fa Mulan (which is combination of cantonese and mandarin pronunciations) like they did in the animated film.

I think it's good they went with the more serious tone this time, as the original story didn't have Mushu or other fantastical elements, but I fear Disney will bruteforce some sjw agenda because that seems to be the trend right now...

I wonder if it'll be like the 2009 film.

LMAO
This is 100% bait.

Can't go around empowering asian girls, still needs a white male lead imo. We can have the white male lead be a british opium trader and segue into Mulan 2: Opium Wars

Imagine thinking some dumb movie is "empowering".
>OMG I JUST SAW AN ASIAN GIRL KILL THINGS IN ANCIENT CHINA I WANT TO BE THAT WHEN I GROW UP

Sure is great to see all of the personality and life sucked out in exchange for solemn griy. Yaaayyy...

Calling it now: Mulan always wanted to be a warrior now instead of doing it purely out of necessity to save her father.

You don't want kids to grow up as a girl killing mongols? Talk about not preparing your kids for the future. But seriously goddamn did those Mongols get away with all the shit they did in the past.

Nah I expect a serious film
Kinda like the already made Milan 2009 one.

I'm sure 10 or more years ago she would have been played by a white chick.
20 years ago she would have been played by Zhang Ziyi

Funny 20 years ago movies and TV was more diverse and authentic then they are now with all this force diversity.

She really won't need any training but show them men pigs immediatelly how it's done huh?

As someone pointed out earlier. The original tale/story had her already trained. So the original Disney film was not true to the source material.

"The Ballad of Hua Mulan is set in the Northern Wei era (386–536). The poem starts with Mulan sitting worriedly at her loom, as one male from each family is called to serve in the army to defend China from Rouran invaders. Her father is old and weak, and her younger brother is just a child, so she decides to take his place and bids farewell to her parents, who support her. She is already skilled in fighting, having been taught martial arts, sword fighting, and archery by the time she enlists in the army."

The movie mentioned above also has her as a trained fighter at the start of the story.

"The Chinese army conducts a nationwide draft. A retired soldier named Hua Hu insists on enlisting again to serve his country. Hua Mulan (Zhao Wei), his young daughter, is quite intelligent and skilled in various martial arts. But because she is a woman, she cannot enlist. At night, Mulan takes her father's armor and weapon disguises herself as a boy and slips out of the house with the family horse."

Then I'll allow it. xD

Still, because thy are going for a more generic action movie feel, I fear they will lose a lot of the charm the disney classic had.

I actually liked the original Mulan.
Most of the Ninties Disney films I do actually.
I guess that is why it bothers me so much how Disney is messing up the live action versions.
I mean when they accurately replicate the originals it great.
But id's always ruined by some unnecessary pandering and "new content"
I'm interested in who they'll get to do Reflections.

Looks good at least. Seems to be a straight retelling of the Mulan story with less Disney. Just hope they get the names right. Hua Mulan, not Fa. Also learn how to pronounce Zhou. It isn't Zoo.

I almost wanna watch a Chinese movie about Mulan so I can compare this to whatever's out there.
