Multi-system owners, ya happy?

I love my xbox/moddedxbox/GC combo

If I sold one it would be the xbox to break the horrible horrible halo 2 addiction I currently have. next gen I think I may be a nintendo only gamer, as the drought between releases may be exactly what I need to get on with my life.

Nintendo - for productive gamers :D

That is exactly how i feel.

Xbox and Gamecube, the perfect combo IMO. The graphics, the PC-esque games, and Nintendo. Who could ask for more?

I still mostly play my Gamecube, but it's worth keeping the PS2 for the occasional Ico or Katamari game. Plus the Fighters and RPGs, but the RPGs have been leaner on the PS2. The only time I sort of regretted getting a second console was with the PSOne, but I still got to play GT2 on it. There is normally some benefit to having a second console, but this gen all three consoles have hundreds of games. So if you stick to juse one you have plenty to choose from, but if you have more than one console it's very hard to get to all the games available.

I am happy with my multi console this gen.(I have an PS2, X box, and DC.) I actually plan to buy an Gamecube in 2005 for the cheap Nintendo games.

Not true. I have an Xbox but I hate most shooters and racing games. That pretty much allows me to buy everything I want.

I'm happy with the three consoles but I sincerely don't want to repeat that in the next-gen.

(It cost a lot of money!)

I couldn't be without my PAL xbox/US xbox/PAL PS2/US PS2 combo. I could live without the GC, but every now and then a good game comes out (Tales of Symphonia US was the last) so I'll keep them.

That's like owning a GameCube and saying you hate Nintendo games. What's the point? Granted the Xbox does have a much more diverse library of games then the Cube. Ok this post sounds dumb now ;p

Yes, it's been years now and it rocks.

Playing Now:
PS2- Katamari, Winning Eleven
GC- Pikmin 2
X-Box- Halo 2, NHL2K5 (platform of choice for multi-platform games, except those that just control better on the PS2, e.g. Winning Eleven, SSX, THPS)

I don't have oodles of time, or really more than a couple hours a week to play games but I like variety and I love being able to have all the AAA titles that appeal to me right at my fingertips rather than just being jealous.

I think you're in the minority here; older gamers are more likely to have more than one current gen console. Then again, I did see the need for more than one console as a kid, I just didn't have the money for more than one... And my parents didn't cooperate! :lol

I think that's true.

When I was a kid, I was a one-console chap going from NES to SMS to Genny. I probably spent more time gaming then, but I own all the systems now and plan on it in the future (though I've never been much of an early adopter, usually get the new console I want about 6 months after launch and then pick up the rest within 6 months of their release). I game less sure, but I still really enjoy gaming and find that each console has irresistible titles (SSX drew me to PS2, Halo to X-Box, Monkey Ball to GC), and if the money's there, why not?

This gen I have all like that last gen. I bearly play my PS2, I loved my ps a lot more. My GCN gets a bit more time, but the XBox gets most of my time. I think next gen I'll go with Xenon and thats it... Its hard to build a great library for 3 consoles with limited cash, and they gather dust :(

Ditto. Sold my GC yonks ago and thinking of selling my PS2 as it just gathers dust, all I play these days is Xbox and even then it sees more .avi action than gaming action.

I could even be a PSP-only gamer one day given the right games library.

Between Xbox, PC, Cube, GBA, and DS I am very satisfied. Honestly, a PC and the Nintendo systems would get me by just fine. Really, all I'd need is Counter-strike, pokemon and someone to battle, and a solid racing game and I'd be just fine.

I used to sell my systems, but I learned from that. (Come back SNES, Genesis, DC, and N64 :D ). I'll never get rid of my Xbox or PS2.

At the moment I'm in video game bliss.

I just recently beat Tales of Symphonia (GC) and Halo 2 (XB)
I am currently playing Knights of the Old Republic 2 (XB) and Final Fantasy 1&2 Dawn of Souls (GBA)

And I have these games lined up to play:
Paper Mario 2 (GC)
Chronicles of Riddick (XB)
Silent Hill 2 (XB...I have never played a Silent Hill and it was only $5, I thought I would splurge)

And I also have Zelda Minish Cap (GBA) and Resident Evil 4 (GC) coming in the mail soon.

I can relate to getting older and loose interest in consoles.

I only have an Xbox now and its fine for what I need. I decided to sell all my other systems when I found out I had only played on them like 1-2 times last year for a couple of days. No need to fill up my closet with things that dont get any use, its better that someone who uses them have them.

Well Im more or less happy as a multiconsole owner. It started (bought at launch) with a GC wich is in my opinion still my number one purchase.

Last year in the summer I bought a Xbox for Ninja Gaiden, Halo and a few others. I enjoyed the system but after awhile I didnt tough the machine anymore and didnt buy any new games really. My last purchase were Halo2 and Fable and im really dissapointed in those games.

At the launch of GTA: SA I bought the new slim ps2 and man Im totaly in love with that machine. Im trying to get all the top titles for it and im having a blast with it (KH, GT3, MGS:SoL, Contra, Castlevania...ect ect).

For me the GC/PS2 combo is the best one.

I own all three consoles, and I never had any doubt I would. I enjoy having access to all these great games across all platforms, but in all honesty I could probably get along fine with having only one console.
My backlog is never empty, and yet I have a lot of games I'm planning to buy sometime in the future...and there are games I've forced myself NOT to buy even if they're cheap, because I already have enough games to play.

There's this limit I've reached, I don't really need all three consoles to have access to good enough games to keep me busy all the time. Having all three consoles just means I have too many games to play.

But I guess having more choice is a good thing. :P

GC/PS2/GBA SP owner here.

I'm very happy to have the PS2 as my secondary system, it does provide me with all the rpgs.

GC is the main system for my constant flow of Nintendo games and occassional support of 3rd party exculsives.

I have all 4 if DC counts and PS2 is the good child while the xbox waits in its shadow mostly unloved. GC is the good for nothing slacker that I hope moves out soon along with its paternal twin the DC.

GameCube (JAP Modded)
PS2 (PAL)
GBA SP (PAL)
DS (US)

Love all of em, play very often.
Except for last weekend, i only played FF8 (Really want to finish it)

Kinda wondering if 1 system is for the best. Having all of them just keeps resulting in me putting off games and/or putting them aside and never getting back to them. I dont think I could ever get rid of any of the systems though.. maybe it'd just be best to only hook up 1 at a time.

I'm sort of surprised there haven't been more Xbox/PS2 combos. Nintendo is slowly slowly becoming dead to me, just as PC gaming is. I got my GBA last year because I needed a time killer between classes and the like. I've never bought a game for it, just the ones I recieved for it. (Advance Wars 2, Mario 3, the Pokemons and Namco Mueseum).

Xbox and PS2 see pretty much equal play time, just finished Jak3 so now it's time for PoP on Xbox. Selling my Xbox is a no go because then I'd never hear from my friends (who're now out of town since I moved). And damn if my second PS2 (lost the first one due to hot swapping controllers) hasn't given me any trouble at all, I'm knocking on wood now. GC never gave me a killer app, just like the N64.. and I suspect just like it will next gen.

And the PC, is now just a platform for me to check the internet and stuff like that. The cost of upgrading is more than a console and I'm a patient enough man that I can wait a few years between PC gaming stints.

Something reads like..

Had all three plus a GBA. Thought it was all a waste of money. Sold the two I used the least, GBA and GC, happy as hell with the PS2/Xbox console. Xbox is my multiplayer system for myself, roomies, and my neighbors (we live in a house split into two 4 bedroom apartments, we're all between 20-23, so we game a LOT), PS2 is for my single player gaming in my room when I just want to chill out on my own. Works awesome.

I made the transition from having multiple consoles hooked up to owning only one last gen, and I'm very happy with it. I have a very broad taste in games, and so it's simply impossible to play everything I'm interested in, even on the PSX2. I'm also the kind of person who simply can't make something like a "top ten list of favorite games ever", because I'd never be able to truly elevate one of my favorites over the others.

So for those of you who can't understand why someone would be happy with just one console:

If you

1) understand that you like so many good games that no single one of them is irreplacable

and

2) accept that you just can't possibly play every good game you're interested in

then making the decision to simplify your setup with a single console is easy. And I sure as hell don't miss the cable spaghetti and clutter. ;)

At this time of year, hell yeah I'm happy. You can get all the good games that bombed pre-holiday on the cheap. I do feel guilty though, three consoles is a helluva indulgence when a lot of folk in the world don't get enough food.

I don't really use all three machines enough, consoles can go unused in my household for months. Haven't touched the PS2 since GTA:SA for example and the GC had a barren spell for a long period last year. The Xbox wouldn't be used if it wasn't for XBL and superior multi-platform software. I'd like to get rid of one of 'em, probably PS2 since only Wanda and MGS3 (PAL) are on the horizon for me but I'd likely just pick up a DS at Euro launch if I did eBay it.

all in all I'd say that this generation there's been enough AAA titles to go around ---- no longer is it clear that a certain console is the failure (lookin' at you 3do, cdi, saturn, tg16, etc.)

GBA SP - my fav. Only console that's been able to keep up with me while my life transitions from college to career .... not easy these last years to keep constant gaming when you move every 10 months.

DS - Slowly replacing the GBA... ever so slowly ... but I am, now, a portable gamer.....

Gamecube - Amazing first party offerings .... single player, and experemental games....... I play a lot of games, and most GC titles don't feel so stale.....

PS2 - ...Default...

Xbox - Very testosterone driven... Very 'vanilla-gamer' but with some great titles here and there...

Can't really afford to miss any of 'em ..... hell, I expected everyone here at GAF to have every console when I signed on....

I'm happy with the PS2 and Xbox combo. Xbox for games such as Armed and Dangerous, the PGR series, the early Sega support(the early support, plus OR2 has been great,SpikeOut is coming,Monkey Ball remixed compilation, and god willing...the fact that maybe someday we'll get Virtuas Cop3:b Other 3rd party software as well though, such as Enclave,Buffy,Apex Racing,Indiana Jones, etc. Custom soundtracks,Online play, etc.

PS2 for the tons of games in its library,Maximo,GunGrave,GT3 and 4,Shinobi,Sega Rally 2005,DragonGard,Ratchet and Klank series, just tons and tons of diverse games.

GameCube, its allright. I bought it at launch, enjoed Star Wars Rogue Squadron and Monkey Ball. Outside of Mario and StarFox though I've never been a Nintendo follower. So I don't hold Nintendo to really high expectations or hold a loaded gun to their head like some on this forum do. I enjoyed the N64 for games like the Turok series,AllStar BaseBall,Quake and Doom 64, World Driver,Beetle Adventure Racing, and more than anything-the games from RARE. To me that was Nintendo's greatest offerings for my money. Thats the biggest reason why I bought into the GameCube-RARE.

But umm...uh oh? Heh. Thats not gonna happen anymore I suppose.

Oh well,I pick up a few games for the Cube here and there, its a good backup system that compliments the PS2 and Xbox with its exclusives like Twin Snakes, the new StarFox game and the upcoming Resident Evil 4.

Can't believe I left out the DreamCast. I consider it this gen, even thugh it seems ages ago that it was released. Maybe their games have been ported to other systems but it doesn't take away from the fact that I spent alot of enjoyable hours with the system, both playng and surfing on the machine. Plus I'm into its homebrew and Emu scene so it still gives me good value. Anyways I still boot up and play games like jet set radio,F355,Sonic Adventure,Draconus,Red Dog,ShenMue 1 and 2,VF3TB(my favorite of the series) D2,Ecco,Daytona,Quake3,Half Life,Crazy Taxi, etc.

I think I wasted my money purchasing multiple consoles. The only future console games interesting me are RE4 and the new Zelda(and the new Mario if it releases this gen). The $600+ I spent on other systems and games(that Ive barely played) could have gone towards upgrading my PC(which I play alot). Ive only played 3 console games in the last 6 months(Pikmin 2, Halo 2, and MP2). No point in selling them though, as I can only get store credit and probably wont get much of that either. Might as well keep em just in case a game comes out that I wanna play.
