My experience with $20 FFCC and setting up a 4 player group

I was at Fry's over the weekend and saw Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles for $20. I had played a friend's copy a bit back when the game was new, and it was pretty fun, so at that price I decided to bite.

What's cool is that I made a couple phone calls while I was waiting in line at checkout, and had a foursome going within a couple hours. We all had GBAs and between the four of us we came up with three link cables, so only one more cable needed to be bought. We ended up playing it till 6 AM.

We continued the game last night, and whenever we finish it I figure it'll be pretty easy to get the same group back together for Four Swords. All in all, I'm pleasantly surprised how easy it was to get a four-player group together.

Anyone else have a similar experience with FFCC or Four Swords?

Yea I had a group of 4 playing the japanese import when it came out. The best part was that 2 of my friends playing with me studdied school in Japan and were back visiting Canada for a few weeks during that summer, so it worked out well.

My friends and I went through the bulk of the game with 3 players and had a blast. It's also far more difficult, from what I understand, since the game throws you the same amount of enemies with 3 players as it does with 4.

We got our asses beat in the last area, unfortunately, and need to buff up before tackling the end.

Four Swords was excellent in multiplayer, save for one gamestopping bug that required me to complete one of the dungeons alone.

FFCC was a weird bird. It was almost more fun by myself, because the mog would carry the damn bucket and make boss fights bearable.

Someone in our group came up with the bright idea of making whoever had the map on their screen carry the bucket. It's worked pretty well. In boss fights, I don't really pay attention to who carries it. I usually do nothing but cast healing spells during boss fights so it's up to the other three guys to move the bucket and apply some violence.
