And no pay 2 win? With Cosmetic only MTX? And there's PVP.

Seems too good to be true honestly but I'm pretty hype for this.

Some people have already been playing for a while on Chinese servers and very good impressions so far.

Apparently there's a ton of depth in the combat as well. Between character skill trees, spell skill trees, weapon skill trees, some sort of constellation system, there are many different systems at work here.

I found a lot of info here from some random vid on my feed but looks like there's lots of impressions out there now:

I'll be shocked if there's nothing predatory in here but signs point to it being cosmetic only. This game deserves a bit more hype imo, seems like a really solid game even if the eastern shit is getting a bit crowded. I still feel like this one stood out. It's out in November.

Thanks for the sales pitch.

I don't know how to describe it. People in the other thread didn't even know it was free to play. Curious but what's the part or parts that turns you off? For me it's probably how long the game is, if it's 100 hours of bullshit padding then I probably won't bother.

Those companies still don't get it do they? Advertising "150+" like it's a selling point.
How about 30 hours of focused content instead of 150+ hours of copy-and-paste filler?

Here's a PROTIP for you.
Nobody is making an expensive AAA title, making it F2P and then keeping MTX as just easily ignored cosmetics. That's not how business works.

For MMO-lite 150h of ongoing content is better than 30h of play-and-forget content
People need enough content to last till next big patch (usually 6-12 weeks)

Counterstrike? LoL/Dota? Various f2p MMO?
There are plenty of games where cosmetics are main source of income. And it's a big thing, very hard to ignore in socially heavy games

Even 1st descendand scrapped p2w and focus mainly on cosmetics sales and occasionally time skips (but those few and far inbetween, there is not much to actually skip)

Because they want the players to buy cosmetics and stuff.

This is a live service game like The First Descendant and Warframe

They expect people to end up playing easily more than 200 hours... So the more content it has, more reasons for people keep playing and buying stuff. Also, the game will definitely have updates adding more and more content.

Last time I played Warframe I had 400 hours in it and I think I spent more than 90 usd during the years I played and, although I stopped playing 2 years ago, I don't regret it.

Same thing on TFD, which I have more than 200 hours so far and I still enjoy it and I plan to keep buying cosmetics on the game long as I am having fun.

I am hyped with this game and if I enjoy it, I will definitely buy stuff if it seems worth for me.

Even with a full priced game, if you tell me the story is 150 hours long I expect a miserable experience of endless grind, repetition and bloat.
Add a F2P component and it gets even worse.

By 150 hours it means that the present story content (main and side quests / events) has that approximate length of content, something very normal for massive games like Genshin, WuWa or Infinity Nikki.

It's not that much for this type of game.

Isn't the "150h" just a bloated version of a solid 10h?
Not comparable
It's like saying that series is a bloated version of film.
Pacing is slower but more details and side storylines.

I thought Sony was publishing it, like they did for Stellar Blade or China Hero projects
It's presented/promoted on Playstation as any other big Chinese live service games, but it's not published by Sony/part of China Hero project.

Why the fuck do people keep watching these youtubers/streamers that talk 80% of the time about how "exciting" this x y z is and shows absolutely nothing exciting lmao. Man, gamers are getting dumber with each generation. "Wow guyZ I aM riDinG a GooSe!!!!!! SO AWESOME".

Warframe. Easily ignore any MTX they release, as you can get it in game by playing the game, or selling items you already farmed for plat and buying what other people have farmed. Spend not a penny.

Hmm… actually watched the video and the game looks interesting. I will check it out unless it comes out that Pay to Win is a factor.

The game seems to have a ton of things to do, has a lot of variety and I am sucker for Wuxia/Xianxia games.

Edit: Even NPC system seems complex. You can actually chat (keyboard type) to talk with them.

Here is another preview. I feel it goes deeper into the game and I am kind of hyped now 😅.

Fucking hell, this looks absolutely wild. The infinite-option game.

The infinite-option game.
That's basically the purpose of live service games.

And with multiple gaas-games in different genres, theoretically speaking you'd always have something to play with a continuous flow of fresh content.

This game would certainly fill a gap in arpg for me, personally (maybe alongside Soulsframe whenever that releases).

Yep, and if the paid items are truly only cosmetics this might be pretty damn good (if complex).

IMO if it's only cosmetics I doubt this is enough to fund a game of this scope. Characters + weapons sell much better than cosmetics. They would need a large female audience, too. I hope to be wrong.

I wasnt paying much attention because I'm not into MMO, but this is a lite-MMO, more like Nikki or even a Souls game, with minor social features. I will give it a try. They also announced dualsense implementation.

It seems you can fully solo the game but call in help if needed similar to say Elden Ring.

And good point on monetization, that's going to be the big question.

They also have mounts in there (again, cosmetics), there will be player housing it seems and more, so depending on how they structure it, things might be profitable.

There are no characters to buy/pull, you play your single MC that you define. There is Stamina but it's like a Souls game / Sekiro vs something that would stop you playing.

Anyways, I am cautiously optimistic, but any F2P game can go down the hill fast.

Yeah they better have some scandalous outfits or somethin, if it's purely cosmetic which supposedly it is. I probably wouldn't spend a dime on anything but if I really like the game I would.

It's just a game of this scale, F2P, how can they turn a profit?

It's NetEase publishing so that's a minus, lol.

Housing and mounts could be popular and high end outfits as well since there are full on MMO and PvP modes.

It will be interesting to see how it's handled. It looks like the game has been out since December in China and reportedly MTX are for cosmetics.
